i say check the belt tension and the state of the belts as well.. but most likely its a razor in the compresor, should not be a tough job though..

going price where.. for me the RL has to be taken from a place in dehiwela... i dont have to go to maligawatta...

i have a cobra detector.,. works quite well... only thing is its a 9 band.. so it picks up GSM towers as well.. quite annoying sometimes.. but there is a city mode which reduces the detection quite a bit.. it has helped me in baseline several times..

oh yes.. the engineering miracle of hard suspension.... thats what we all need sometimes even with good ground clearance.. as mazda speed pointed out.. the pot holes are large enough for elephants to bath..

i put the repair kit for my sterring rack sometime back.. again as ripper said u never know the condition of th rack. so better to go for the repait kit IMO, and mine is also a 1990 car.

go with the friend story.. it always works.. there are a couple of guys at the front who checks ur document. in this case the letter that came to ur place.. put a chat to them.. its all about PR.. i bought down a lap top battery from EBAY worth around US50 and only paid 150Rs as hanlding.. talk the the front guys and they will inform a guy inside, they assign a number i think... not to worry.. but the attire is important too.. dont go looking expensive.. bata slippers shorts and a old T shirt does the trick...

i have a pump broght directly from china.. its still working.. and has those emergency lights as well.. havent used the sealants yet.... the pump works.. and 15 mins is a good time.. even mine takes around that time..

oh no.. i have been compramised... .. but i spoke the truth u know.. u want rain fade to go away.. u need to buy a bigger dish.. or DTV has to change the technology... the later is expensive.. so RAIN FADE it is...

well that might be true as the DTV is only now getting the full staff intergration from dialog... however the rain fade issue is a common phoenomna for DTH (Direct to home) technology.. if u want to avoid it or atleast minimize it u need to obtain a bigger dish.. which u cal alwyas do at a price from DTV... to eliminate it completely one has to go for a VSAT frequecny change.. if that were to happen DTV cannont be sold at the currnet prices.. so its a cost issue...

i suggest dont go for PEOTV yet, as they have some bandwitdth issues to deal with. which they are sorting out now.,. in the meantime DTV is also doing and upgrade.. so be calm..

well of course i agree with prad.. if u can find a decent astina.. the problem is most are very hacked and needs work... and owning one my slef i can say that there are things to look for.. but its a sweet ride coupled with some wide tires.. better at corners IMO.

well it should be quite possible.. although not as straight forward since ur car is carb and the interplay will surely have to be EFI.. i have an astina 1500 DOHC EFI.. having it for six years now.. not bad for a 19 year old car... try to down play it a little more coz i am sure u will find ur self with some work to do once u drive it around a bit.. especially on the suspension, clutch area.. check for cooling problems both radiatoer and AC, those are the first to go.. then go for the locking system, and then check for the lighting, wipers, i am sure u can find somethign faluty which u can bargain and get it for even cheaper...

just read this thread fully.. and man what a ride... started from a simple query, went on to some explict detatils.. then back to the point.. good shit... kinda agree with andrew here.. spot on on the moral.. i am personlly experinceing it now...
