  1. There are no English language manuals for cars made for the domestic Japanese market. The best you can do is find a manual of the equivalent car in other markets.
  2. Never turn your engine off, and at night, nor your lights. In fact, if possible, simply keep moving. An elephant will not charge unless it feels threatened, and the best way to avoid such a situation is to not stop. Avoid the horn, the noise really agitates elephants.
  3. Dog got in the way, muzzle first, because she likes to drink water from the hose when we water the plants (did not occur to me at the time I was using the washer). I was afraid she might get water forced inside her ears, and possible injure her eyes. I mean the product details state the output pressure at 120bar, and things propelled by that much pressure can hurt.
  4. Google for the Scion xA user manual. It's the North American version of the IST, and the manual will be in English.
  5. I borrowed a Bosch from a neighbour and nearly hurt one of my pets when she ran into the path of spray. I think I'm going to support local small businesses and get my car washed and waxed from the place down the road instead.
  6. Okay so the Axio Hybrids have H11 and HB4 bulbs... wtf

LED version was sold out. Didn't even bother with the fogs yet, still kicking myself for presuming this car was normal and used HB3/HB4 setups like other cars.

wats wrong with H11 and HB4?

I had no idea H11s were used as low beams as well.

  7. My Vios had scuff plates. There was a 1mm or so gap between them and the sill, so doubt it. In any case, a scuff plate isn't pliable like a sticker, so moot point.
  8. Tips won't do any harm, by that time the exhaust gasses have already passed through the most restrictive elements of the exhaust system. So unless you stick a carrot in the pipe, not much will happen.
  9. I actually went to look at a Tercel wagon two weeks ago. But that was before the mandate was changed to buy a car that would be easy to live with (as if the hybrid corolla wasn't enough).
  10. Not only do the stickers peel, when the edges first start lifting, sand gets trapped underneath and cause even more damage to the sill. I haven't bothered with any covering on my car, because one has to draw the line somewhere, lest people begin shrink wrapping the entire car.
  11. So it's very likely the second car is going to be an Alto LXi. Any warnings, apart from don't buy one :P ?

Yeah men. Plan was to have funding completed by April, but yahapalanaya put end to that, so using what I already have in hand.

TBT, We have used Mariti Alto, Zen(Diesel) and Wagon R and all three were bought in brand new. All 3 were well maintained and no issues except rust appearing after years (some places of the body). It is for your second vehicle and buy brandnew or properly maintained one. I too agree with you going for some newer vehicle.

Sampath, I was thinking of the Wangon R too, because of the high seating position. Where does rust appear on this car?

  12. Pet#o does it. Got my spare key done that way a few days ago because dealer had misplaced it (got it done on his dime). They even cut blade key. It cost 8000 odd.
  13. Yes, I'm referring to ATF temperature. I forgot to ask this before; when the car is hesitant to shift, do you get a burning smell, very much like a burnt clutch smell you get from heavy vehicles now and then? That smell alone is a surefire sign of an overheating transmission.
  14. Very non-car related, but does anyone know where I can get a picture framed within a day? Apart from Kent I mean.

  15. I think I'll settle on a Karcher because it has more attachments.
  16. Okay so I'm really a n0b when it comes to these things. People say they pressure damages parts. Is the pressure not adjustable? I downloaded the brochure for the Bosch units, and an illustration depicts a guy holding the nozzle like a foot away from the car. Do they all come with built in detergent mixer?
  17. Saw a Honda S660 in Kirulapone. Very zippy little car, driven by a chick no less. Traffic laws be damned.

Doubt it. It costs as much as regular Axio, so taking into consideration the lower engine capacity, I would guestimate around 4 millionish.

yeah I just saw a link posted in that article pointing to the H*tad site, which says the cost is 3.3m. And that article says only 660 has been produced, so miss-leading.

Only the Concept Edition is limited.

  18. I suspect an overheating issue as well, which is why i suggested you shift to neutral when possible to see if there is a difference.
  19. What did you mess up? I'm considering getting one as well.
  20. Try this for the next few days and see if there is a difference; when stopped at a red light or non-moving traffic, shift into neutral when possible.
  21. Why is it that no one ever talks about the seats and driving positing. Some cars have fln ATROCIOUS seats which can never be adjusted the way one wants, because once you adjust it so that you can reach the pedals easily, you have to reach for the steering, especially if the car does not have a telescopic steering wheel.

    H4 Hid Or Led

A friend of mine bought a set of Nightbreakers having seen my posts about them here, and was concerned with the colour of the light because it wasn't white like HID or LED. So I'll clear up any doubts about Osrams or Phillips, or any other high end halogen bulbs; they will never provide the colour of HID or LED bulbs. They are simply brighter, have more consistent light spread and will generally maintain at least 80% of their brightness during their life time. The Osram Nightbreakers have an "unofficial" colour temperature of 3900K, which is the closest to white they can do.
  23. Nice buy! I wish you many many kilometres of happy motoring!
  24. The Prius 3rd gen is now long in the tooth, next year will see the release of the 4th gen. You could look at an Axio Hybrid, of 2013 vintage.
  25. Double post, because office internet is so fkn fast.
