    Engine Rpm

Don`t know what your car is, but mine hits the rev limiter at around 4000 rpm when the car is in neutral. When in gear it hits the limiter at around 6800 rpm. So if you wan`t, try put it in gear position 1 or 2 and rev the nuts out of it (while moving forward of course).!!

    Grease Gun

Means "jdnet" has answered your question buddy.
  4. It`s only illegal if you knowingly disclose the fact (e.g. in selling). Not illegal to do adjustments due to replaced meter cluster etc.. Illegal or not, it`s not a problem over here. Nobody gives a damn about the number of Km`s on the clock anyway (at least wont pay a premium for a car that shows it`s age with 'Low' milage). As long as there`s people falling for this, it`ll happen I guess
  5. No worries mate, well it`s not an Axio so the second hand market is obviously different in SL. You could say ‘not market’, comparatively. It`s the same story with the Mazda Axela. I would stay away from the FD3 personally. The FD1 is not a super complex car to maintain and don’t think the Japanese version had any know factory defects/issues. I would look for one that`s already registered and depreciated a little bit. You don’t have to run to the agents for every issue, but you`ll have to do research and figure out the type of issues that could be fixed with less expertise. It all depends on the issue so better worry about is when it does happen. For example, things like engine diagnostics or troubleshooting electronics are better done at the agents, whereas any third party mechanic could change shock-absorbers. But, as with any modern car, most components must be ‘replaced’ when gone bust and difficult to repair/mend and use as with older cars. Certain things are expensive in new cars to replace anyway, for example my key would cost me $400+ to replace at the agents (still running with one key, need to research on whether i could buy a generic key off the net and get it re-programmed ).
  6. You really are obsessed with the FD`s aren't you? Opening up therads on em once in a while.. I`ve got one (FD2), and it`s been bearing daily abuse quite well and done 20k km`s during the 9+ months i`ve owned it. We get the Taiwan build over here, so not too happy about some finer details on body work, paint and interior trim. I don't know much about the "Sri Lankan" context, but have driven the lot in the same class (Corolla - 1.8 ltr | Mazda 3, Lancer - 2.0 ltr) and the Civic is the best drive and the most powerful I found.
  7. Happy B`day you two.. Have a good one guys..
  8. Oh cool, That explains it then..
  9. That was back in 2006 dude, the days of riced up EG8`s and CK2`s are over.. Done and dusted..
  10. I would vote this one for best entertaining thread after the "Drags" prank.! Cheers ravindu996 buddy..
  11. But there will be an Overseas transaction fee involved. About 50 cents for 17 dollars (that`s how much i pay when i fill up my Skype credit). Have to pay this fee for most ebay payments as well.
  12. Toyota Cynos.! Basically a Starlet with a different body, but hey, most people tend to think of it as a "sports" car. With the size of the thing and weight, you`ll always feel like you`re moving fast.!!
  13. is this a qestion? I'm pretty sure I provided the above list in another thread ages ago..
  14. Happy B`day man.!! have a safe one..
  15. Err.. You should not start a business which requires a significant capital investment with advice just from random people in an online forum. You would need to do heaps more research. I would say start by searching this forum, there`s plenty of info on importing cars. I believe Import and Export control department has got some info as well: http://www.imexport.gov.lk/services.htm
  16. If that was so easy everyone will be doing it mate. I would forget the idea and start searching locally.
  17. Just wondering whether it is possible to get a HC bike released out of Customs legally? Could one actually declare as for racing/track purposes and get a bike released?
  18. Ahaa, should be a walk in the park for you with these figures. God knows how many horses have escaped from that Alfa motor over the years eh VVTi ?? Damn, wish i was there to hang around for the event..!
  19. WoA..!! Finally one interesting thread. Jdnet, what`s the spec of this EK3 of yours? is that running a Turboed d15z motor? Alfa 3.0 Vs Passat 1.8T... Ummm, interesting.. Have you guys ever run each other before? Honestly can`t imagine who to put my money on, haven't done any power to ratio calculations though.

    Where`s the rev counter??
  21. I vote for the FT-86 concept.. http://www.therichest.org/cars/subaru/toyota-ft-86-concept/
  22. It`s 4 years old actually. Agree on the fact that the average lifetime of a car is much less over here. A car made in 1995 that got to spend its entire life parked under a roof at night can be considered a bloody lucky one. From what I have observed though, plastics, glass and rubber withstand the heat pretty well in cars here (temperature and UV ratings are much higher compared to SL in summer). Rarely seen a Japanese car with a cracked dash (say a couple of decades old). Maybe the materials are properly selected to suit the conditions and to meet standards. It`s the paint that starts to wear off soon, for example my Jimny`s red paint had started to fade (roof and hood) after about 12 years and the Charade I had looked like it`s developed a bad skin condition after spending about 17 years under the sun . Both cars had no issues with plastics and rubber materials. So I always thought that humidity and moisture is the car killer in SL, not really the sun.
  23. We get 40+ degrees celsius hot summer days over here and my car is out under the elements 24x7. Just use a sun shade on the front windscreen and try to wax it once a month or so that's all. Hate the burning like smell of plastics and leather once I get inside after work. But there are no visible damage external or internal though. Most common sun damage over here is the paint clear coat peeling off, but i`ve seen that only on 12+ or so year old cars.
  24. Told the missus to point at the tacho and speedo, this is what she managed.
  25. Ok Guys, I know it`s not proper driving, thought i`ll post anyway.
