  1. jokes!
  2. or was it a blue vitz RS? its the only other RS running on the kandy road and it happens to have a parcel shelf full of soft toys. just when i was trying to prove the RS is not a girly car this comes along. sob!
  3. thanks for the info. i was actually waiting for someone to clarify this. however i'd like to point out that brits are lazy race and they can never achieve the tediousness you may find on a jap built car. even if its not built to last so long i meant the american cars arent built to last as long as their european counterparts yep. thats exactly what i was talking about. luckily people here are trying solve the problem by fitting basic aftermarket items and piggybacking the control system with various degrees of success. not something i'd wanna do though
  4. did u buy any chance come to king of the streets II on 4th/5th of oct? cos i distinctly remember some bloke parked right next to me as i was waiting outside pila in a black vzr and even that had dials on the a pillar.
  5. what the f*ck is the indian air force doing if its letting planes take off from their country unauthorised provided this is true? so much for having the worlds 4th biggest millitary. sorry i'm not very fond of the indian government, especially since they didnt let us buy a 3d radar system however the word here is this carried out by the "small time" ltte cardres in the south. its not that hard to carry the wings and the fuselage on a lorry assemble them and send them off a big open area a few hundred yards long. i'm starting to suspect this was a probably a suicide/no return mission. the carrier theory sounds too scary to be true the problem is we'll never really get to the know the full story behind this, as the military will keep us in the dark. i dont blame them though.
  6. what do u drive mate? in my case one could say its a girly car. but what annoys me is they'll have to miss the spoilers the wire mesh grills and the bigger wheels to see it through. or maybe i'm just being pedantic
  7. definitely uk spec cars are somewhat very different to jap spec. and the accord is made in swindon. so its way better built than say a honda built in suzuka. in case you guys havent noticed japanese cars are sort of built to be recycled in a few years whereas european spec cars are built to be used a lot longer. same goes for american cars i think. i havent got any actual proof but i always feel this way when i get into the same car made in japan or the uk. and a lot of sri lankan expats agree on that i see where you are coming from. but i'm just a big fan of the rover v8. the special eds were way better than u got in the L322 too and dont even get me started on the overfinch p38s
  8. i've had my RS for nearly 5 years and thats my only "long distance relationship" that ever worked. at least it doesnt stop me from driving or riding in other car if u catch my drift
  9. hey dont say that! this is only my 3rd topic here
  10. lol back seat! lets not even go there lol i thought i was the only one! please tell me it was ur best valentines day ever
  11. i think 3 or 6 rupees a day is really good value for money on daily basis if u can get where u r going faster. plus think of all the fuel savings. considering a litre of fuel is around 100 rupees i'm sure the savings will be awesome. if people don't use it because of that tiny price they are just plain stupid
  12. i wouldnt want to take chances though! did you guys hear that checkpoints nowadays are equipped with rpgs?
  13. i was thinking more in terms of a p38. the holland and holland edition is a very nice car. even the bmw rrs are going well below £10000 nowadays. the idea was to buy one thats 7 years old use it for 3 and ship it to sl when its 10 years old. but with the recession is getting so bad i might leave as early as next year. so i'll have to ship a car like a normal dealer would. which would make buying a rr rather pointless. not that you've mentioned the accord a type s would be a really nice car to be shipped to sl. plus they are better built than the jap version. i was considering the rx8 as well. it has less power the jap spec models but i'm guessing they are more solidly built. can someone please explain the percentage of taxes (roughly) charged on an imported car? i got some idea on what a used car would cost calculated against its brand new version available in sri lanka with the depreciation subtracted. how is it calculated for a car thats not available brand new in sri lanka? i've heard the basic tax is 300% of the value of the car. how rite is this?
  14. see this is whats wrong with having sex when you are so young. you are not aware of the word contraception
  15. mate u r safe! you guys should try owning a hatchback. i'm fed up with hearing people say i drive a girlie car. see this is the problem with sl. people havent quite realised the true value of hatchbacks. or hot hatches for that matter. when i come to power that will change anyways i'm preprogrammed to be turned off the moment a girl disses my car. just as well she doesnt do it in bed i remember when i was in school i was such a car buff i was almost a complete outcast. actually girls were fine with me, well right until the moment i start talking about cars that is. annoyingly it took me quite a while to realise this. and now i'm so devoid of the subject of cars autolanka is my only place of sanity. but every now and then i get that sudden rush when i realise that some fit girl is really into cars. but even then i tend to overdo it sometimes lucky for us there are other elements in the car world that command us some much needed attention. i mean how does ur girl friends find it when u r constanly oogling pics and vids of vicky butler henderson? or sabine schmitz for that matter? its also very entertaining to watch them outdo themselves watching top gear or fifth gear just to impress us
  16. ask you friend if he's stumbled upon those gear shift girls? i got a feeling he'll worship them
  17. i think its like the petrolheads dress of choice. i'm sure we all enjoy the degree of "freedom" offered by the boxers however u do have a point there machan. finding a good p1800 is just as exciting as finding good porn
  18. hey! don't say that! i'm mechanical engineering student anyways you do have a point there. we were studying with students from other engineering courses on our 1st year but then when were "isolated" i realised there was only one girl in our course anyways i had the edge on her and she was quite fit too. and last year she was my valentine. but that went so wrong this years valentine was a big improvement. ok i may have said too much. but just pointing out even our own kind is not the best when it comes to this love business
  19. he should have used a v8 twin tail pipes! he can bring along a mate as well
  20. thanks mate! but i'm still not aware of the sort of taxes charged on imported cars
  21. hello lads! it was valentines day last saturday in case my fellow petrolheads didnt notice and i myself had the best valentines day in years cos i spent it all by myself, in my boxer shorts, going through the internet trying to find a decent volvo p1800 while sipping on an extra cold pint of guinness. anyways, i'm sure we are all aware of the fact that being a hardcore petrolhead is not very cool. people dont want to talk to us at parties when they realise we are car buffs. girls won't give you a second look when you got your head stuck underneath a bonnet with your bum crack sticking out of your trousers. policemen dont like us cos they are expecting us to break the law at any second, used car salesmen dont like us cos they cant flog us with any old sh*t. worst of all when you are at a car show you find the brand representatives are useless cos you always know a whole lot more about their new up and coming model than they do. basically a petrolheads life is a very hard one. we need to pursue our interest in motoring and at the same time not look ...ermm "anti social" to put it simply, still be able to pull girls i believe being a petrolhead there are ups and downs when it comes to pulling. so i'm hoping this thread will allow us to express our thoughts and experiences on the delicate matter of how our intense affection of cars affects our encounters with the fairer sex.
  22. oh! how i wish they get run over by an out of control lorry while standing on the hard shoulder
  23. hey guys! dont forget me! i wont be back till june/july. unless u wanna do it again but sweeping the country for good roads is just as fun as finding a good one
  24. hmm i wonder how they'll catch us on the motorways. its not like they can sit on the hard shoulder and stop us like they may on a normal road. and i doubt they'll give a chase. though trying to outrun them on such good roads would be quite a thrilling prospect another thing. we gonna have a whole new breed of tuners trying to max out their cars on the straighter sections. we are no short of 250km/h+ stock and modded cars in sl anyways bel way is a restaurant right next to the kelaniya railway crossing. and they serve great food. this is in no way an advertisment. but i'm sure they could use some now that its hidden underneath that flyover
  25. ok not quite 2nd gear then. this thread gave me a great idea though. why dont we do an official auto lanka motoring holiday in summer to find the greatest (driving and scenic) roads in sri lanka? like top gear did. could do it over a weekend i suppose. and please please wait till im back in the country. i've been waiting to open the taps on my RS for ages so who's up for it?
