Hope my answer above adresses your question.

    Beautiful Machine

My opinion is it depends on how much one wants the car. It's extremely hard to put a price on a claasic in Sri Lanka. Dev would not touch a KarmG and nor would I. But there'd be many who find a Beetle sexy and that would make a Karmann outrageously X rated. Hypothetically if I was one of them then I'd be tempted to offer something close to 2m for a "perfect" car that has some extras as well. There are so many people who would pay ridiculous money for anything with an MG badge. For me an MG B is a dressed up Austin Camebridge (which itself was quite a crap car in its day) and I'll never ever pay 3-4m that most Sri Lankan would line up to do even if I could afford one. But the thing is many people in SL have serious nostalgia with such cars. They recall how so and so who was a smart looking wealthy man drove his MG at a pace that left them going backwards in their Triumph Heralds and Morris Minors. So it means a lot to them. The car they dreamt about when they were young etc etc.

OUCH !! I see a swam of flesh eating Beetles crawling up your trousers !!!
  4. A Rock n Roller with taste! Look at how many Italian stallions in there! That Frua Maser A6 looks delicious. Padon si vous plait mon Francaise but here's a glimps of Nick Mason's (Pink Floyd) little car park. He's got a Maser 250F and a Birdcage Arguably two of the world's greatest race cars! Errmmmm sory make that 3 he's got a 250GTO as well.
  5. The Atlantique is considered one of the most beautiful cars in the world by many designers! This one needs a good dusting though!
  6. It will be great if they met at the Nurburgring
  7. They are all 8Cs Zonda!! Btw we Alfisti believe that God's wheels are pearl white Lungo !!!
  8. Yes. GTA 's said to be a run of 100 nos. All this before the financial meltdown. If much of the development is already done then it should be produced.
  9. I won't be surprised to see a few other manufacturers take a break as well. Renault's hit pretty bad with the laguna flopping and Nissan sales nose-diving. BMW has said that this is the "worst crisis it's ever faced". Could we see a thin grid in 09?? I hope not...
  10. If you are interested in collecting avoid Maisto and Mattel/Hot wheels that are available at the Hallmark shops. The detailing is pretty ordinary and they are the least collectible brands. Brands like CMC and BBR are the best but are very pricey. Autoart is a great value for money brand that has very good detailing as well. Norev is a cheaper brand where some cars are great but some ar crap. In the 1:43 scale you have a much wider choice. It's best to surf the net and ask a friend or relative to bring it from overseas when they next arrive. Remember detailing and the right proportioning is what's most important. Ebay might be the cheapest sources.
  11. Bit OTT for my liking but the GTA is out next year and should look something inbetween the standard car and this. Spec is said to be 500bhp and 100kg less that the standard.

    Is This Tyre Good?

I had Potenzas on my 500SEC (can't recall what came off the car). And that had huge grip although it could be the nature of the chassis. Lots of people rave about Potenzas to me. I guess the best way to decide whats the tyre with best grip is to drive the same cars with different tyres at a time. I've heard that Toyos are very good. But never have experienced them......

    Is This Tyre Good?

Hmmm I had two sets on my (then) Mazda Familia Hatch and on my Alfa Giulia. They both vaporized faster than any other tyre I have used! But both set were 14" s on my car. 30k is great!

    Lotus -

It seems like an expanded Elise and the end result is quite boring. They should have invested on a proper Italian suit!

Well the engine went bust due to lack of use and was rebuilt recently. Might as well burn a bit of fuel than re-build the engine on a regular basis

Good one Miniace ! But just imagine how many parts dealers or wreckers you'd have to visit!!! The Early tail lamps were from the Rover SD1.

    Is This Tyre Good?

Hi Teejay In my experience the LM series aren't that great. I had them on a Mazda and there was not much grip. The old Dunlop SPs were great. But I have no idea what the equalent code for those are these days. 10,500 is quite a good budget for a 15" tyre. As Don says the Kumho Ecstas are very good. Check for Thai made Michelins as well they are very good. Not sure how expensive Yokos are but they are great too. Check also for Hungarian made Pirellis at Amila. They seem good too and I've heard good reports from a friend. But I've yet to drive them..... Avoid Bridgestone Turanzas. They have very little tread life. Potenzas are are very good.
  18. Talking of the great man.....this is a video I really love. Couldn't help not sharing. In a Maser if I'm not mistaken.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ombc1EGpfpA&NR=1
  19. On the contrary we need to shout about it as much as we can. This is the problem with all of us - me included of course. We are so un-involved as a public! Of course there's a risk....but you know the saying no risk, no return! Next year is going to be real doom and gloom with commodity prices crashing, GSP+ loss and the US recession. My head spins when I think of it. (Btw interesting stat prior to GSP+ our garment exports to the EU was $1.3bn and after it grew to 2.8bn) And if I'm to believe some of the pals I've met from the military....... there is a long long way to go! And many suspect that we will not be able to finance it much longer.
  20. Btw heard that Wh eels Lnaka is starting an aasembly plant for Chinese trucks.
  21. Yeah I feel it must be some over ambitious design student's creation... Too featureless remind me of a fruit!
  22. Anyone seen Kimi Raikonen's bike?
  23. Yes it looks so low tech doesn't it? Those straw bales look so strange on a race track. I could picture a horse drawn car race Yes Alfa won the first two chanpionships (50 and 51) and then withdrew. The Alfetta was a pre war race car(t) mind you. It was Gusieppe "Nino" Farina not the designer. In 51 it was J M Fangio who took the title in the Alfetta.
  24. Interesting video I came across, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOm2U6zjQGQ
