  5. Nice series of shots from past weekend. Everyone involved is okay. http://caliphotography.exposuremanager.com/g/4982
  6. Happy belated B-Day and many happy return of the day Ravi.
  7. My guess is the guy is trying to take you for few bucks. If your car is running fine and this test indicates that it is otherwise healthy, you don't really need to do an 'EFI tune-up" IMO.
  8. The guy making the allegation is not a straight shooter. http://green.autoblog.com/2010/03/12/unint...involving-debt/ Both the second gen and third gen Prius can be put in neutral at any time and any speed.

  10. Not your timing belt. Most likely it's your fan belt. Make sure that it's not worn and/or loose.

  13. Happy belated Birthday bro. Hope you had fun and can't remember a thing.
  14. Toyota Chaser??
  15. It means installing a Vtec engine in a car that didn't come with a Vtec engine. Yes, Vtec engines generally have a little more power but the main benefit is having power both in the bottom and top end by way of running different cam profiles based on engine RPM.
  16. Happy B day man.
  17. Happy belated B day and a happy New Year!
  18. Thank you all. Had a great time hanging out with some friends and family. I just realized that I didn't touch a drop of alcohol. Definitely a sign of old age.

    Turbo Engines

The reason behind idling a turbo engine for few minutes before shutting off the engine is to cool the turbo shaft and extend the bearing life. Only necessary to do if you drive the car really hard where the turbo shaft gets very hot. By idling the engine for few minutes, you circulate oil through the shaft bringing its temperature down so as to not to burn the oil in the shaft area due to high temperature. Turbo shafts can get to nearly 1000 dig F. on extremely hard use and oil can't withstand that kind of temperatures without turning into gunk. By idling the car and letting the shaft cool allows the temperature of this area to drop to more manageable level to keep the oil from gunking.

    Idle Or Not?

You want to warm up the entire drivetrain. You should drive off but keeping the engine load low and RPM below 2-3k for about 5-10 mins to bring not only your engine temps up but also other lubricated parts like transmission, differential etc up to temp. By driving off right after you start the car, you warm up the whole car more evenly and faster but may even remedy carbon build-up since your car goes into close loop off idle [efi cars].
  21. Thank you all... Year older and few more gray hairs
  22. Thanks guys.
  23. Can't answer you on the first two questions. They are absolutely worth it if the rest of your braking system is in good condition. The advantage is that they don't 'balloon' under hard use and give you good feedback and makes it easier to modulate and much more precise in control.
