  1. Believe me, I would choose a beetle over a starlet or a corolla any day of the week. Why? Beetles have a certain personality which most of the cars lack. If its a well maintained one, it would be a troubl-free daily runner. Looks like it's unmolested and that's a good sign.no fancy alloys or bits and pieces hanging out from random places. I don't really agree with that paint job but that's each individual's taste I guess. So congrats on your purchase. BTW, Supra_Natural has some in-depth knowledge of Beetles. Do check out his thread about Beetles in the forum.
  2. Finally something good to read on a monday morning! When I saw the first pic, I thought you are going to plug in a 4 cylinder engine to it! Keep us updated dude
  3. VXi is an Indian Swift. It's got a Maruti-made engine (K12), which is is different from what you find in Japanese Swifts. You need to refer to the user manual to find out whether it's got a timing belt or chain. Read the whole manual, not just the service information. If its got a timing belt, no harm in changing it at 80000.
  4. For a 1998 van, the conversion fee would be 35000
  5. I can only assume this guy is joking!

What NZer is saying is true. No objection letter (countersigned by a JP in the seller's area) and seller's NIC copy is necessary only if you are doing a one-day transfer. If the buyer goes through a finance company, it's not required even for a one-day transfer. Furthermore, if RMV has no record of the documents sent by the previous owner, then you need not worry about a fine or double transfer. Just ask the new owner to do a normal transfer. That's the easiest way out. Please note that this is not an endorsement of open paper transactions.
  7. A B310 coupe is too precious to be molested like this.
  8. Front fender of Celeste is curvier than this one. It looks more like a B310 coupe. Of course, this is under the assumption that the fenders are not messed with.
  9. Doesn't that run the risk of pieces flying off when the car travels at high speeds?
  10. if that is the car, the guy who did this needs to be hanged. B310 hatches a quite rare in Sri lanka and they are sought after by enthusiasts.
  11. Not really. Tercel, Corsa and Corolla II were the same car with different badges in Japan. Tercel and Corsa were available as hatches as well as sedans. Only the hatch was badged as Corolla II. http://www.toyota-global.com/company/history_of_toyota/75years/vehicle_lineage/car/id60010827/index.html
  12. Corolla II is rebadged Tercel. You may have some difficulty in finding body parts (not because its Tercel, but simply because its a 2-door car). I've spotted some body panels in Delkanda so I don't expect that to be a problem. Tercels are renowned workhoses, so don't worry much about it.

  14. Have to agree 100% with komi. which one do u value more? your life or your bragging rights of doing 150km/h like those idiots in their allions? stick to a reasonable speed, especially if u drive a poorly maintained car.
  15. You need to ask that question from a soothsayer. What is your need? buying a car to use or buying a car to make a buck? If it's the latter, then don't go for it. If I am looking for a car to use for a few years, I don't mind having a duplicate book.
  16. Yes. All three were auto 1.3 litre cars. Loved the ride. Only trouble was it did like 7-8km to the litre. Do remember that u will have to spend a considerable time to sell it off, due to the market perception in this country. Try to get one close to 2 mill (facelift) or close to 1.7mill (pre-facelift) if you can.
  17. Not at all. I've driven a CS1 (YoM 2003) with 5 passengers. Compared to a Mazda 323 and a B15, it was far better in terms of pickup. Don't have any experience with any other 1.3 ltr Jap sedans.

Dingy/Charith already posted his number (0772308757) along with his NIC number in an earlier post. So it's verified. Talk about putting the foot in one's mouth!

What MD posted earlier was the cached version of the mobile site. Here's the cached version of the ad from the main site, with Charith's phone number http://#######/lb2uxxx Charith, there's no denying of facts now. The best you can do is just STFU.
  23. These two threads should answer your queries http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/8978-corolla-110-and-111-what-is-the-best/?hl=%2Bae110+%2Bmodels#entry141484 http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/13992-toyota-corolla-110details/?hl=%2Bae110+%2Bmodels#entry214408 It is you who needs to decide, based on your preference, whether you should go for a manual or an auto car. Manual ones are a little cheaper than autos due to low demand.
  24. Cali tries to tell us that hybrids and electric cars are god's gift to mankind and everyone ought to drive those. He keeps pounding that to our heads, while not knowing the difference between hubcaps and alloys. So far, Magnum hasn't told us that Suzukis or Japanese cars are the best and everything else is crap... so Im pretty sure magnum won't end up being a cali
