  1. 1. $20,000 = 2.6 Million not 2.2 MIllion 2. Are chinese or Malaysian Products ok? Kelisa, Viva, Panda, MX7, Savvy (not sure about this one), Ford Figo (assembled in India) 3. Not sure about Chinese vehicles but generally this is achievable 4. Panda has all these features
  2. It may be an issue with the camber but if the wheel alignment people reassured you, then I would trust them more than your mechanic. Did you go to a computerized wheel alignment place? Their system would detect it easily. On the other hand, your mechanic can only 'suspect' it. I can recommend the two joints in Malay Street or the one in Hyde Park Corner if you really want to check if the camber is out. I could think of worn out shocks also as a reason but then I suspect your mechanic would have looked at it already and even if he didn't, the wheel alignment guys might also alert u if so. Was the car involved in any serious frontal accident? That may also have an effect on this problem.
  3. This topic has been discussed quite a few times in the forum. DO a search if u want to see all options and their pros and cons. To cut a long story short, let's just say that the best options u got are Corolla DX Wagon and VW Beetle.
  4. @fatjoe- r u sure it wasnt a 600 with an added zero to the badge?
  5. Is that a car with climate control (touch ac)? If it is a 4wd version without climate control, i would pay around 18 or less. There is a perception that 4wd cars have a low market value. The reasons could the lower fuel economy owing to tbe weight of the car even if 4wd is switched off. Also eif something goes wrong with the 4wd mechanism, repairing could be a nightmare. A black cruze with matching red and black seats with all options including climate controller and no 4wd should go for over 19 these days. PM me if u need any more help
  6. Starlets are pretty robust vehicles irrespective of whether auto or manual. There are no major known issues with auto boxes but u need to find a one which is working properly, considering the age. When you say Starlet, I presume you are talking about EP91s. Only trouble I see is they go for around 1.5million these days, which is rather expensive for cars of that type and age.
  7. Your question is fair enough. I don't know if any forum members own an F10 528. You can ring the local BM agent and see if u can get an authoritative response. For best results, pretend to be a potential customer. +94 - 11 - 2 875 666
  8. Friendly advice to you, before you are taken to the cleaners, May I suggest thinking twice before you post something in Autolanka forums. Neither of these vehicles are available in Diesel and within OP's budget here in Sri Lanka.
  9. Three cheers to the forum admin/moderator for keeping Autolanka clean...

  11. I had the same problem in the Punto which I owned for a while. Ironically the problem popping up whenever the car was taken to Wheels Lanka for service and became alright on the next day or so. I assumed that Wheels Lanka guys are probably spraying water or kerosene on a sensor which makes it act weird. Does this problem happen when it rains? If so, its a good indication of a sensor being over exposed to water. In any case, like VVTi said, it needs professional attention and I would trust Indika far more than Wheels Lanka to diagnose and fix this fault.
  12. Now what was that old adage about wrestling with pigs? May I suggest:

  14. If thats the case, did you clean the IACV during your tune up?
  15. I was with MBSL earlier. Yes they are cheap. They will undercut competitors but there are two problems 1. Getting claims from them isn't really easy, unless u know someone inside. If you like, I can introduce you to the agent who handled my vehicle (PM me if you like). Agent had to intervene to get my claim sorted out. 2. The parent company (MBSL) is trying to offload MBSL insurance to some other company. It could go either way - could get in to better hands or bad hands so I don't know how it would affect you as a customer. However,If I were you, I would keep that also in mind when trying to give them business. ~55000 Premium for 3 MIllion is still high. If you negotiate hard or have some contact inside, you should be able to get it done for 50 or below.
  16. For me it looks like there's a problem with the cooling system of the engine. The cause may be a faulty thermostat valve or a radiator fan. That's why it becomes ok when the AC is on. Keep an eye on the engine temperature indicator when the car stalls. If the indicator is not working, you may need to get that sorted out first. Check if the fan speed is ok when the AC is off.
  17. You can buy those from Darley Road. Should cost about 1200 per pair. It's a simple DIY job. All u need is a spanner or a screwdriver.
  18. It's a manual car. CVT box issue is not applicable. If the registration book has 1798CC or 1799CC, then there is no luxury tax for this car. However, if the registration book also indicates 1830CC, then you need to ask the luxury tax reciepts from the seller. Pls note that there's a penalty for late payments of luxury tax. All the best.
  19. Yes they are good. please go there and get your work done. (I really doubt that a person who can't do a DIY search can do a DIY headlight cleaning)
  20. FYI the initial tsunami waves have hit Indonesia and they are very minor. 21. PTWC Bulletin: http://ptwc.weather.gov/ptwc/text.php?id=indian.TSUIOX.2012.04.11.0845 Pls note that what PTWC says is there's no evidence of a tsunami being generated. However, if there was one, the ETAs would be 1610hrs in Trincomalee 1650hrs in Colombo and 1800hrs in Jaffna.
  22. how do u actually know the engine temperature is high? based on what u feel?

  24. Oh come on machan please take his advice for your own good. he's asking you to shed the amudey that u wear every day in this poor third world country and wear a shirt and a trouser. Are u sure u know how to wear shirts and trousers, let alone how to drive a car? On a serious note, if you are traveling somewhere close to where this moron is living, will u do me a favour and slap him? I'll even contribute to your travel costs if u would do that for me...
  25. Yes. Any engine that has clocked 150,000 must be replaced asap. Try to do it at 149,999 or else your car may stall on the middle of the road with broken T-belts and whatnot. You can easily find a similar engine with 15-20k on the clock. The mileage will be written in big letters on the engine block and it's definitely genuine. Furthermore, you don't need to do silly things like check for sludge in an engine which has done only 15-20k. All the best with your car!
