Machan, I am not sure about the engine codes, both were 300- numbers, auto, daily runners. And both were their first cars, so may be their driving style, tech know how may affected the fuel economy. But I used to travel with them often at office. Noticed they were bit under powered when try to climb hills with 2 passengers. But enough room and comfort.

Yes there are 2 listed in A/L, and the 1997 one looks in good shape. Not sure about FN15, but my fried got a FB-14, manual transmission. It does around 10/11 Kmpl on city drive. Maintanance was not really difficuit. And I saw some where you quoted 13/14 Kmpl in city drive. I doubt those figures are correct. But in average you will get 10/11 in most of the cars that discussed here, except for Presea. I knew two cars, both with auto transmission, which did only around 8Kmpl in city drive. And I must say presea was more comfortable compare to Pulsar and FB-14

Why don't you look for Nissan Pulsar. There is nice 1997 with G - plates in A/L. Around your budget. It is better looking car than AE100 to me.

60/55W emits lower heat compare to 100/90W, isn't it? So if you replaced your 100/90W with 60/55W you are getting lower heat compare to the original lights you had.

Similar thing happened in one of the Charley Chaplins movie. That his son or some kid damadge the all windows in the street and Chaplins goes reparing windows after 10 minutes.

When was the last tune up done? What is the idle RPM?

So it was non vtec originally. Do don't have ECONO light also in dash board pannel, do you? Its better look for that as well. Because the indicator is very helpful to maintain econo mode. Specially in long trips. slight movement of throttle can toggle between two modes.

Dont use water use good radiator coolent. Edit: this is not the reason for water level change . But water is not good in long run.

EK3 came with EFI only. If you are referring to EG8 then, there are carb and EFI models.

No similar exp but what is the wrong ATF used? And is it changed now or you still running with it?

I've got ADSL 512kbps connection at home and using Airtel prepaid once in a while. So far no major issues with the ADSL with normal internet browing. But P2P download gives only around 38 - 48 kbps in average. Airtel did not had any coverage in the area that I live in initially (less than 8Km from Kandy City). However in middle of the city with full signal I tried the connection few days. But faced several issues in browsing, If there are Java scripts running in webpage, those pages does not getting loaded at all. And some days connection drops in every 2,3 minutes for both normal browsing and with P2P, youtube, etc. And this did not happened due to signal drop. One of the engineer tested my connection while on phone with me. He confirmed that my connection is active all the time, but data trasnferate dropped to 0 which he couldn't explain why. But later I got to know that they monitor areas seperately and control the bandwidth. Not sure to what extend its true. So I now stay away from using it as no point of reloading money without using it with in the given period.

Machan parts and maintainence has discussed so many times here, if you go for genuine parts there is no much difference. But used and other 3rd party products are not commenly available as some of the Toyota and Nissan brands, mainly corolla and sunny, and few common models. 1.5M is the budget for EK3 which warrying from 1.3M - 2.1M For this budget you will be able to find good 98/99 year Exi model with 300/301/302 reg numbers. If not some good condtion 96/97 Vi model again 300/301 numbers. There are EK3s for below your budget, but always better to pay little premium on well maintained one. how ever 1.45M - 1.5M you will be able to find good one.

For some reason I think eyelids are not enhancing the look of the car. Why don't you go for Lip kit instead.

Since I don't have other option I take my car to M.City in Kandy. But I ensure they do only the cleaning and oil change. I don't let them to touch the engine Not even the interior clean. Because the cloth that they used to clean is so dirty.

Hi all, Yesterday night I was stopped by cops and asked to switch high-low beems several times and said intensity is too much and I have to change them. They said new rule passeyed two days back and published via media/and informed them on intensitiy of new lights. What I noticed from them is that people who has installed Xenon kits or factory default Xenon lights are facing this another pathetic traffic law in Sri Lanka (like tinted glass). Or may be they gonna check chinese made blue coloured halegon lights with high wottage which I had in my car and I was thinking of changing them any way due to bad quality of it. Any update on this?

Yes little expensive when it comes to parts. Do not know about the labour cost in comparison. But I think labour cost is fairly ok. He has genuine parts through Agents so charge for the parts as same as the agents if I am not mistaken. However you can buy stuff from out side and get the repair done. For example the genuine air filter was aroun 4K during my last tuneup. Same filters is available around 2K in out side.

Only known place for Honda specific repairs in Kandy is Willies who is the authorized guy for stafford. I take my EK3 to Mag city only for service/wash. Other requirements I visit to willies.

Hi Peri, well I don't it's necessary for me to get in to fan boy thing again as I am not trying to prove any comments or disagree with others. Just shared my opinion and I know some will agree and some don't. For me topic is already concluded in 1st page or 2nd and rest is just the entertainment. So I read when I have some spare time. Edit: Just saw S_N's reply. This is what I mentioned in my post. Your reply of cause valid, comprehensive and informative. But isn't it too late, at least for the topic starter? (provided he made up his mind already) No body bothered to justify some valid reasons why someone go for 110 or fb15. Your post has done the justification to 110 which others failed to do.

Another classic A/L Honda thread. Those who likes EK3 commented to for EK3, and others just called them fan boys and never bothered give valid reasons why someone should go for 110 or FB15 over EK3. Best part is, they do all the assumptions on behalf of these fanboys (so called by others), what is on their mind and keep on commenting their own imagination. P:S worst came out when the starter said he will opt for EK3.

But even in this thread I didn't see any Honda fan boys are coming up says that Honda is the best and all the others are crap. The thread opener asked a comparison of 110, fb15 and ek3. There were not many replies or recommendations came up for 110 and fb15. Most favorable option was ek3 among the replies. Few more guys claimed that Ek3 has some sporty orientation based on their own personal opinions and in relations with 3 cars in comparison.But no body said that EK3 is a super car or beats Ferrari. What I see is some people assume that Honda owners who comment here just fan boys so that any thing coming out from their mouth is just crap. They failed to justify their opinion why someone should go for fb15 or 110 over ek3. What ever the sporty look, more handling focused suspension over comfort, fuel economy comments done for EK3 done with in the context of the 3 cars in Subject. But other who were unable to recommend fb15 or 110 just get those few words out of the context and start bashing the Brand and the guys who comment on Honda. If you went through the first 2 pages carefully till the starter says he decided on EK3 none of those who have opened their mouth now, have put some effort to explain or comment on other two cars.

I think the PROBLEM with Honda mainly the CRX/Civic/Integra/Accord is that most of the engines are interchangeable 1500CC to 2200CC with relative ease compare to Toyota and Nissan. To Sri lankan average guy as always things should come here either with movie like F&F or after years the things really happened. But that is before these ADSL and HSDPA .. things have now really changed the wiki and uTube hit our homes.
