  1. Decided to get my Hustlers first service done at A*W Kandy even though the car sale nominated Kun***sale Auto Se***ce To hell with the warranty I guess Switched to Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 fully synthetic The car was on 0w-20 I kinda Feel the car is smoother and faster to rev up Not sure what will happen to the fuel figures though which are likely to drop
  2. Yes, let alone being an agent and comparison with other make agents. Certain shanty makeshift joints charge similar or more with no specialist tools and a bunch of "mechanic bass" and some fancy badges with dealer status in the middle of some coconut land
  3. I must say, even though there is nothing interesting currently imported by Uni*** M****s, they do a reasonable amount of a role to keep Mitsubishis in the country on the road. Hefty sum it maybe.
  4. I am talking of an isolated circuit with a breaker unit, also these electronic units, so called the inverter has the capability to handle a current of 20A AC, and upto 40A DC, with standalone cooling system and cut-offs, also as I said the EVSE also has multiple shutoff mechanisms. So I believe a jolt or this or that in electricity, has nothing to do with frying a car. But of course given a scenario where lightning does touch a house, provided the car was plugged in , the weakest link would be the breaker, then the fuse inside the EVSE, if you say millisecond delays can fry a car, I believe these cars designed to live with high voltage and currents would be poorly designed. So what you are trying to say is manufacturers overlooked the fact that small variations in current will harm their cars?? So have you heard of any lightning related issues in the leaf locally ? which is the commonest car here? and have you owned / used and EV for a period of time, since you liberally comment on the subject?
  5. I beleive this is the Japanese alto mate currently trending
  6. There is a noticeable power difference, and with 4M41 which I notice almost daily
  7. The car has nothing to do with lightning if your house is wired up well, it doesn't increase or decrease any tendency for the house to be struck by a bolt. Also I doubt the average Sri Lankan is stupid enough to plug something that draws 20A from the grid during a thunderstorm. The car doesn't start charging if the ground circuit is poor or not upto the mark. The EVSE is the weak link in the chain, any monkey business with the current mainly fries this, replacements are of hefty prices and rare. These things are crap these car salesman and people who skim on the subject makeup, Next story is you can't charge in the rain, which you can, all connectors are waterproof. Range Anxiety is the biggest downfall in almost all EVs, atleast till / if you can afford a Tesla,
  8. The electric car market is also kind of getting diverse, thus you must specify which electric vehicle you are interested in. You see Teslas go from 10mil to 20mil, pure rocketships, does near 400km or more per charge, but zero dealer support, something goes wrong, good luck with Musk The common Leaf has its ups and downs, again poor dealer support, but you can pull sth off, losing value, so on on the shallow end there are cars called Shifeng, imported in few dozens running on lead acid and recycled leaf parts made locally doing like 60km per charge, i-Mievs doing like 80km per charge, electric scooters, so on. so Be SPECIFIC pls Regarding the AC issue, it is true that the AC has a direct impact on the range, but not by 100s, roughly 15-30km of range maybe impaired, with many variables to specify that is. The deal with our local nut jobs is, they have a habit of setting the climate control to 18c and scooting about, this drains extra leading to major range loss.
  9. So a chap spends like 7mil on a car, with 1litre engine capacity + turbo, still confused about gas mileage and in the end complain!

I mean what are you trying to achieve here?

    Impress the neighbor? Feel big?

Why not use half of that on a thirsty SUV, or a tad bit older premium car, and spend a bit more on fuel! and peace of mind

Like Crosswinds says finding a good mechanic/workshop being difficult is not entirely accurate. The issue is finding a cheap "baas" who will do a sticking plaster job to get the car on the road till the day you sell it to some poor sob is difficult. Even these buggers charge an arm and a leg now :D

Hmmm.....2.4L RAV4 10 years old....2.5L Mark X 11 years old....1.6L Corolla Wagon 19 years old...2.7L Fortuner 5 years old. None of these cars have been stuck in garages for ages apart from the regular service and scheduled maintenance work...so...every 5K-7.5K....and every other 10K kms or so...as for wear of suspension items...again....if you use proper parts...they will last as much as the components of a brand new car. Wear and tear on things like shock absorbers are more dependant on the road conditions and the mileage you put on them rather than the age of the car. Again...in SL these repairs don't last because we use sub standard parts or instead of doing repairs based on manufacture recommendations we use alternative methods (e.g. according to the manufacturer bushes of a lower control arm should not be replaced..the entire arm should be and that lasts for 10 years or even more....in SL we pack in the bushings which after a few years may start to give issues..)

Basically what tic is saying is...why do Sri Lankans want to live way beyond their means ? and then complain about not having money for fuel and repairs and food and how sucky the economy is :D

Exactly! finding a proper maintained second hand car where only new/original parts have been used is very difficult, you don't normally know what you are getting into. Also people don't have extra time to spend in garages for mechanical updates. The alternative is to sell an arm and leg and get a brand new , and expect some peace of mind. Because of the tax update,1 L new models have come to similar range like 2nd hand regular models. A 5 year old Prius will be 8 years old when the Lease is over, and more difficult to sell than a 3 year old Civic 1L turbo. I personally prefer a non hybrid with a proper engine than the new 1L,but not everyone has time and motivation to spend on a car after buying (even for gas!?)

    4. iRage

      iRage

Well that is the Sri Lankan cycle isn't it ? We complaint about not having money to maintain a car properly or spend on fuel because we have to buy new cars by selling an arm and a leg and putting your first born as collateral....

then go on to maintaining the brand new shiny car with shitty parts  whilst complaining about genuine parts being expensive (mainly because the genuine parts don't get sold because they get outsold by the cheap parts..which we buy because we don't have money as we spent it all on buying that shiny new car because it was the thing easy thing to do whilst impressing the neighbors).

so the brand new car becomes a crappy used car...

and then we complain about having to buy a brand new car because the used cars are crappy.

Then we complain about the government screwing up so badly because the currency keeps devaluing and losing our fx reserves...but ignore the fact that our brand new cars are a huge contributor towards our money draining out. If the government tries to restrict car imports people yell saying it is a violation of their human rights....but then the government doesn't want to restrict car imports either because it is one of the biggest ways to fatten their wallets.

      So what gives ?

  10. its like early 2000s Civic Mania again with the new RX8 influx! Hooligans all over, beware!

  11. Seriously mate? recall Sri lanka? Expensive tyres? Bad roads? What do you drive??
  12. Yes but that mode is exclusive only to the stingray My new hustler has s ene charge but it doesn't have this ev creep function Anyway just to flush my system had a blast to nuwara eliya in my old smoking 4 pot turbo diesel. Had a blast.
  13. The 2017 or 18 Wagon R has some small EV mode, the motor / alternator (ISG) manages to propel it for a certain time. I've seen it on the new stingray ver in my workplace
  14. I spoke to this gentleman on the phone a few months back Was a helpful and genuine person Took almost 30min of his time to explain how the system works and what to look for and what to stay away from. Told me Not to even bring the vehicle to him. Not the typical money oriented people you see in the trade nowadays. Highly recommended!
  15. AS for Uber context the Wagon R had attained a certain appeal mate And in comparison it is the overall better vehicle out of the 3 for your intended purpose More details about each are and also comparisons have been discussed in further threads. Take a look
  16. Yea these ELM327 ones don't run with some UK variants, It worked with my UK Hilux, and the local market mitsubishi suvs, and even the kei cars, and my Jdm leaf, jdm X-trail the very same unit failed with UK market L200 and a Trojan of my cousins, and a BMW 320d UK import.
  17. 'Worth the money' is the typical school of thought in our country, U see a car or a Van coming with 4wd / Awd is heavy and high on fuel consumption and 'no market' Whereas a Pickup truck or Suv with 4wd has a higher demand rather than 2wd, only exception i've seen are Vezels and a few kias IN my opinion having on-demand or automatic drive to the 4 wheels is really handy starting from a rainy day to a point you get stuck reversing on a hilly route to give way for another car, Its a luxury you would wish you had when you do get stuck. Of course there is a bit of added maintenance but nothing out of the ordinary in comparison to a 2wd car, unless you are trying to save even 0.5kmpl on the long run. The opinion is subjective but the utility must be entirely decided on the vehicle and how you plan to use it. As for me, whatever it may be, I'd prefer it be AWD or to fancy a 4wd drivetrain.

    Mitsubishi Ek Wagon

The tuned altos were out of my budget for now, the standard trims were not worth it, and the clang hated the Ek Wagon, gave out one last cry for a Jimny which I hated to eat my words after seeing the interior and rear space so ended up with the Hustler, mind you the car does grow on you with time,
  19. Are Armour-all quick waxes any good? IN relation to soft99 (blue can- cant recall the name) conventional wax and 3m quick wax (which didn't impress me much in terms of shine, but beaded off well)

  20. Small thought- Just because its expensive doesn't mean its really good, or "high end" audio quality even on a factory fitted B&o or Burmester has a long way to go to compare with what the aftermarket kits have to offer in terms of quality and to be "high end",Sadly you did not mention what speakers you have for your 'high end' unit, and how many of them. Even if you drive from an Alpine to a Nakamichi, on those standard paper cone speakers that come with Japanese cars, they would be light years behind your home stereo. Secondly, say whatever gold it is, what good is it if one cannot use it to fulfill its purpose? Lastly, If you opt a retailer to take your unit, expect your returns to be less than a Generic Chinese DVD player If your are cost effectively or cheaply trying to upgrade your audio kit (meaning less than 30000LKR) do not expect anything of quality, but if you want to look at just the tip of what 'high end' is, expect to go near 100,000LKR. Most of the popular manufacturers have your din size in their costlier models, Local stores are possessed by Kenwood and try to shove on into your car as well, don't be mended by them for pdf translation - https://www.onlinedoctranslator.com/ Cheers
  21. I guess we are being trolled
  22. I am having a ball in the Mira Es In fact when my wife wanted to sell it I kept it and bought her a hustler The Mira is ahead of the alto EXCEPT FOR THE RS TURBO AND WORKS which I daily covet Mira pulls better Has more rear leg room Has more luggage room Both have boring dashboards but the Mira has a bit less boring gauge cluster. Led digital and all As for looks The alto has this angry puppy face but a van like butt Whereas the Mira has a boring front end but the rear is kinda ok. Upto u,
  23. Can you please elaborate what the A sign indicator flashing means?
  24. Just checked out a Suzuki Jimny

rear is just tiny! might as well just tear out those seats and use it for luggage.

its like an alto in terms of quality inside

major dissappointment even if one can get around it being 2 door.

yes better consider as a 2-seater. The bigger wheels and Turbo, distinguish it from the Maruti in terms of pulling-power and Ride-quality though..

The interior is eat behind in comparison to the competition and even the kei segment. Sad for such a cute and capable vehicle

I ended up buying a hustler. Though it looks funny outside

I feel no difference in the interior quality in comparison to the full size suv I have and the leaf I sold

I think the sitting position of the driver between the two axles contributes to better comfort in the Jimny,Pajero-mini etc. Whereas the Kei segment tries to maximize the cabin space and then passengers have to sit closer to the wheels.
