    Express-Way Updates

Off the Nation online edition - Southern Expressway authorities have directed that the Vehicle Fitness Certificate is mandatory for all vehicles using the Expressway, official sources said. They said the certificate was made mandatory to prevent accidents on the expressway where vehicles operated at high speed. They had detected several vehicles not roadworthy as they had black smoke emanating, less brakes and other defects.

Agreed, but the lanes are not wide enough. They should have had 3 lanes to allow heavy vehicles to run on, people find it hard to overtake them on the Colombo-Negombo road as it is. Moreover these vehicles should not be traveling at 100kmph+, & some of them are in pretty bad state & don;t even have working indicators or brake lights so they should be checking their road worthiness prior before being allowed on, which is highly unlikely. The idea of a 40ft container fishtailing at high speed or not being able to slow down in a hurry doesn't sound too appealing. They should be allowed on, but to run at slower speeds. This would still make the journey faster than the normal routes as the speed would be constant.
  11. Ok, that's not exactly 'slow' for most vehicles to be put into first. So as Peri mentioned, its built that way. Get your car tuned first & have a mechanic check the clutch as well. Your probably burning more fuel driving the way it is.

Ya thats like asking for trouble, you never know who your going to be dealing with. Let the cops (if they want) to handle it. Setting a good example isn't always the way to go. You been missing the news? http://www.dailymirror.lk/news/15971-attempted-robbery-on-highway-exit.html

i'm stuck at 512kbps or 50-55KB/s. More than enough really, since I have Atom based downloading machine that consumes less power than a ceiling fan.

They must be doing the bandwidth upgrades by area. I had the 512/kbps till mid last week when it shot up.
