Second market value for Toyota cars made in Thailand
tilvin replied to Liberty's topic in General Automotive
Guys.....?. Everybody has right to express their ideas in this democratic country.....? (At least some politicians may believe this statement.....). Anyway, I am going to tell my viewpoint even if you don't like....?. FB14 actually came with GA15DE engine and rarely GA16DE engine to Lanka. This was shared among Nissan Wingroad and other few vehicles of that period. GA15DE is a solid and smooth engine - far better than some Toyota engines of that period. Anyway Nissans cars maintenance process is very different from Toyotas. The Nissan car enthusiasts only know how to manage a Nissan....?. -

PETROL TO DIESEL AND BACK TO PETROL CONVERSION
tilvin replied to troyboy's topic in General Automotive
May I know what's the engine is? -
I want to tell you guys an important story, but a sad one. There was a good old gentleman in our neighborhood known by the name Uncle Chesley De Silva. He is fairly a nice person except he is abnormally stingy and thinks he can save money by different ways. He had a nice petrol car and he used to drive few miles everyday for his day to day tasks. When his retirement period came, he got some money as his employment benefit. He sold his car and also applied for a small loan and bought a GP1 from a car sales. Probably as unregistered. Uncle Chesley was so concerned in battery and asked the sales guy to give him an inspection report on battery. After the report the inspector's comment was "battery is so good.....:). You can use for 2 years atleast". Uncle Chesley thought he can save a lot of money from this new car and he finally bought the car. While he was driving the car for the first time, he told me "Putha, I bought a "high breed" car and the people are telling that it can save a lot of money. If you run the car too slowly and cause lot of inconveniences to the people behind it can produce money also....?". Then after running for a couple of weeks, I met uncle Chesley again. He was not happy at all. Highly worried. He told there is no money saving as he thought. Also he is getting an "error signal" in the dashboard flashing. Then one day he brought the car to an inspector and the inspector did a battery scan and told Uncle Chesley, you need to put a battery for this and that costs this much. Those days battery price was so high. Since Uncle Chesley was too much stingy and not mentally matured, he was very sad and his pressure went so high.....He immediately got a cardiac arrest and died.....So the moral of the story - Never be too much stingy and never think how much you can save by running a hybrid....?

PETROL TO DIESEL AND BACK TO PETROL CONVERSION

How you are sure the ODO meter is not reversed. There is a notorious meter board technician near Soma Devi Place, Narehenpita. May be the guys sold the car from Japan might contacted him and reversed the meter by giving few bucks....:). I know there was a Fiat Punto car which was advertised with 229K kilometers few months back. After 2 weeks the same car was advertised with 106K. Then after a week the ODO meter value for this car came to 23K and the ad specifically mentioned as a low mileage car. So who can be sure about the mileage?

Think about Peugeot 407 SW and Nissan Wingroad Y12.....? -
My advice, Don't worry too much about fuel economy, resale value, 92 vs 95 arguments, Engine oil 30 vs 40 vs 50 arguments, DVD player arguments, reverse cam arguments, effects on car price if tax policy changed arguments, etc ----- > And USE and ENJOY your car.....

Vehicle manufacture year mentioned in the seat belt
tilvin replied to ThushanthaSrimal's question in General
There may be so many places to check the MF year in a vehicle. Why you are so interested in checking from seat belts.....? -
Are you referring to the petrol selling in Sri Lanka? Unless you do not pump diesel to those, either 92 or 95 petrol would be ok....? But I prefer always pump 95 petrol to my EUROs. That would be better I think in terms of quality.
