  1. You're welcome! Well the interior isn't very fancy yes, but that doesn't depend on the transmission and it's obviously better than an Alto of the same era. Most cars don't have the stock seats as I found out when looking at them, but owners don't know that normally, nor care about it. And the manual is lighter and wastes less power than the auto, so acceleration is better and so is F/C
  2. They aren't rare as you think they are http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=43743 http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=43661 http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=43682
  3. Yes you should 8th item in the 1st post As almost everyone seems concerned with fuel economy these days instead of power, turbocharging a NA car would be out I guess except for a small project we're working on, so maybe this could also be extended as a turbo maintenance guide for diesels and petrols equipped with factory turbo's?
  4. I also thought it was already in effect, but nevertheless good news to be confirmed for the enthusiasts. Speaking of classic cars, is it actually allowed to bring down one still? Because the statement j) To assist enthusiasts to import Classic Vehicles here made me wonder, but the only discussion on the forum says it wasn't possible. So any idea about this now, now that classic cars are pre-1975 cars?
  5. You're welcome Archon! Somewhat high, yes. That's more than 1atm so twice the designed pressure, but it depends on the manufacturer, model of the engine and how good condition the pistons are, age etc. Can but not always, example your engine will hold up even more but an Accent will probably blow up
  6. Well I'm using the conn at home, so yes I do get an average of atleast 100KB/s (that's around 800Kb/s) before 6pm. Have used in Kandy also in the phone, but no big issues, pretty fast. But it all depends on the congestion of the tower you're connected to, if for example lots of people around YMCA are using Airtel while the Mobitel 3G tower is comparatively free, then Airtel would be slower. 3G towers have very limited range compared to 2G so another part of Kandy may give very fast speeds. Best way to figure out what to use is take a HSPA phone, put the 3 sims and see what's fastest for your location at the time you need to use it. As for dropping the line, my comp is always connected to the net when on and very rarely have I seen the line been dropped when I return.
  7. Wish you a very happy birthday DD!!
  8. Then how come I keep constantly getting speeds of around 150KB/s average in non peak hours and around 50KB/s (which does feel slow after being used to 3 or 4 times faster) during 6pm - 12am hours in Airtel? I'm not using any special package, just the Impatience which came sometime back. Unless passing FUP limit, it's quite acceptable, but I do live within city limits and got good signals and network set to UMTS only. If you don't set it to that, it'd keep on switching between 2G and 3G and dropping the line, running on EDGE most of the time.. Same with every network here.
  9. Best coverage in Kandy is Mobitel while speeds are very respectable, Dialog is way too slow everywhere anytime from experience, Airtel works well only in city limits but slows down way too much now between 6pm - 12am.
  10. I don't get how the wife and kids change preference of an E39 to an Allion BMWs are very reliable when they're taken good care of after all, even older ones. And even a Toyota would give trouble if neglected due to lack of time cuz of the family... As for the 'winker mirrors', it's obviously not used as a main marketing point for a Euro car, because there are many more important things to say about those cars
  11. Yea much higher than the cheapest stuff out there done or Maruti's but there are some which seem to strike a balance in the middle of price vs. quality, so a bit higher than that
  12. Looks can be deceiving
  13. It may prevent heating to some extent but trapping air inside is upto the design of the car and how airtight it is by that time
  14. Yea even though the car is slightly older, that's the nature in SL, more upmarket cars going for lesser prices than the lower segment cars. Even the older version is better than the newer lower market vehicle of the same manufacturer. Can see clearly with the Nissan Cefiro A32 giving itself to FB15 while the A33 gave it to FN16, though the Cefiro was one gen early each time. I think you meant 5.7M is a good price for an unreg Mark X?
  15. You're welcome! Do a search, check AL classifieds and the weekend papers, can see quite a number of Euro cars going at bargain prices

    Corolla Axio

Well then, hopefully you'd have another Euro car to drive and see more of the difference then. And good to see even a new owner accept the car to be boring, and yes it will be a fail if all Corolla fans feel that As for being comfortable, yes it's cuz JDM vehicles have softer suspension but that was designed for smooth paved roads of Japan, so better watch out if using the car on rough roads here.
  17. So basically they want you to throw the car away, crush it and get a new once the tranny goes bust? Don't think that's gonna work here, when do our people throw anything away.. Will atleast rip out the neighbours tranny and fix it to his own
  18. Unreg, both go around 6M mark. Anyway - Camry http://www.autolanka...d=&search=Camry Mark X - There are two unreg http://www.autolanka...=22&search=Mark There were two reg ones for sale and was around 4M or so IIRC
  19. 3M tint means better quality at a slightly higher price than when done by some random place with low quality film, and more resistant to discolouring
  20. I know this is too expensive but it's a late 2nd gen http://www.autolanka...ad.asp?ID=41238 and it looks like a good example of an Audi So yes, think your bro could go for a late 90s 1st gen facelift for that price or an early 2nd gen
  21. Similarly priced, but the very basic Camry seems to come with more options than the most basic Mark X, but the latter surpasses in higher trims in both features and price. The Mark X is RWD so should be more fun to drive while the Camry is a FWD, plus though Mark X is slightly heavier, and got a bigger 6 cylinder engine, the factory claimed F/C is less than the Camry. Have a look at JDM specs

    Toyota Vitz

No man, I meant your car does have a CVT gearbox, no doubt about that. But the export model, called the Yaris hatchback in SL has A/T, same case in many other countries. So best is to ask a person to translate the owners manual as I've said before too, or ask the agents, though I'm not sure how helpful they'd be as you've not bought the model they import.

    Toyota Vitz

Well then do ask a person who knows Japanese to translate it for you No English manuals for most JDM cars afaik, and the export version of the Vitz came with A/T, not CVT if I'm not mistaken

    Toyota Vitz

    Check your owners manual
  25. Well an E36 goes around half the price you mentioned Stiggy, the 325i/323i would be slightly higher. Maybe your bro could go for an A4? Even S40 isn't bad, but for a lower price. Or a S70/60 or 80 even? Or a VW, lots of choices in the Euro car segment even at that price Actually when I was looking at some cars, there was a black manual 2000ish S40 2.0T/1.9T4 (the owner only told it's a turbo, didn't know the capacity) for 1.2M a few months back
