toyota prado 150 tire pressure for srilankan road conditions?
kmeeg replied to dtrum's topic in General Automotive
Machan, I don’t know if different countries get different ply ratings. I see the much heavier Land cruiser 200 comes with 4ply rated P285 60 R17. I see 4ply rated 265/65/r17 with load index ranging 110-112 on the Prado. Not sure what exact load index dtrum has in his Prado. However mine came with 4ply rated tire P265/70/r17 and recommended 32psi. But when I change it to 10 ply rated (load E) a/t tires LT275/70/r17 the tire shop recommended to run at 38psi on highway. They said though you can drive really low psi in off-road never to run at less psi at highway speeds as the rubber inside the tire might get damaged and you never know until it gave up at high speeds. So even though now I feel every bump on the road I still run at 38psi on regular roads. In short I would say it would be better to run at 32psi if he has regular tires. Not an expert on this but sharing what the tire shop told me. -
Wonder what number this will give for 'my gas'..?

This Limited trim if the 4runner is more on-road focused imo though it has 4low range and a-trac system, etc. The TRD trims of the 4runner is off-road focused which comes with same 4low range, a-trac and in addition it has terrain mgt, crawl control, locking diffs. But I wish we have LC70 series here for myself. Not a fan that 4Runners been IFS, I’m but scared that I might break something.. Wish they had solid axles like the 70..? This is a pic of the 4runner TRD off-road from last weekend.

Did a little photoshoot today.. Toyota 4Runner.

I think @ajm is comparing defender to the LC200 (Parliament fools version), he might have not known about the LC70 series (old to current).
-
What ever discussion there is I'm still waiting to see its off-roadability and see if it better than the legendary Defender.. Or NOT.. Something like..

Dang....!!! I have to share this on my FB..

Here are my experience when I had the Viva Elite 5spd manual; 1. Fuel consumption, - I got 14kmpl on my daily commute from Kelaniya - Dematagoda 2. repair cost & parts availability, - I had to replace the windshield due to a rock hitting and the parts were available right away at Unimo Orugodawatta. Insurance claim was really easy, Unimo did all the coordination with SL I******* (estimate, payment). All I had to do was give the car around noon day 1 and collected the car next day morning. 3.general issues, - 1. The only concern I had was ground clearance of the front bumper. You need to be extra careful. 4. Present market value. 6. Reselling ability - When I sold it I sold it 1.5 lakh over brandnew price and it was really quick. 7. Is low milage (less than 20,000km) elite good than high milage japan car for same budget?? - Atleast for engine components it has Daihatsu_EJ-VE engine so I would guess I would be reliable as any other Jap in general.

Did a little thing y'day-

Ahhh.. Got you... ChrisFix has by far useful videos vs as per Scotty you should only buy used Toyota (not even new Toyota). I guess 99% of Scotty's video he talks about his Celica, his wife's Lexus, his son's Tacoma..??

In my opinion in US market Hummers are kind of junk. But definitely a good one to have as a 'show vehicle'. Scotty is correct about reliability, they are not as reliable. As for offroad Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has far better capability than Hummer. As for Chrisfix Hummer, thats an amazing find. The stock powertrain on the Hummer sucks and the Duramax engine swap is an amazing setup. Portal axle upgrade over stock makes it even better. Atleast the GMC Sierra with Duramax is amazing.

Just be cautious when you give your vehicle to rent -

Anyone know of any head gasket problem with Prius? Long story short, over the weekend while our friends having car talks one claimed that his friends cousin works at Toyota Lanka tells that Prius have a common issue with head gasket. Did some search and couldn't find that as a common issue / as a fault in Prius. Appreciate if anyone has any info on this. I see many topics about Prius battery but not on this issue.

Peri, As for you pic sorry I have no clue what to tell about your pic since I see nothing than perfect as I'm no where close to your skills. Is it possible to do the photoshoot with your Isuzu and share the settings for use? I mean trying to understand how to photoshoot vehicles. Like what focal length and what aperture to use? Not sure is it good to use wide angle or long focal lengths?

I just started following "Car Wizard". Seems like a good channel.
-
Exactly what i was thinking. This conversion is like from capable off-road to pavement princes?
-
Who knows who he really is machan.. At least as per the FB vehicle groups I’m in I cannot say Scotty is wrong. It’s surprising to hear about some brands we think reliable has so many problems where owner complain. But even been a Toyota owner its bit hard to listen to his talks. Anyways it’s not always reliability that matters.
-
Totally..!! I’m one of them..? Sambola + bread or sambola + white rice ?
-
Ha ha.. I have them at home..I get maldive fish & spices every 2 months. I'll die if I don't have them.. ? Harishchandra noodles to be exact.. ?

I've heard some bad things about the Civic & CR-V 1.5T engine. https://www.torquenews.com/1084/honda-civic-cr-v-oil-dilution-problem-what-you-should-do-now

I’ve been following couple of YouTubers and they are using LC70 (not the LC200). Though I’ve never owned or driven one had fallen in love with the LC70s. I also follow one insane group that uses old LC80s and a Isuzu D max ute, their videos are insane. (The channel is 4wd action)
-
Is this still valid for new Hyundai and Kia? I see them coming strong in reliability department vs CR-V 1.5T having some reliability issues.
-
Not very often you see Land cruiser 200 do off-road. In this case modified LC200.
