  1. Anybody had funtime when your smart key battery died? I know its total ignorance of the warning light saying that the battery is low. That is the time you will hate smart keys right?
  2. That's really nice to see the option of 4WD. But help me understand, is 4WD means its full time mechanically all 4 wheels have power and AWD is power is at 2 wheels normally and other 2 wheels get power electronically on demand like in a slipping condition or by manually enabling central diff lock? But in symmetrical AWD system all 4 tires have power at all times right? Sorry if i have gone off the topic but trying to understand this topic for some time.. Tried different animation videos on Youtube but haven't got a clear understanding between these 2.
  3. 1. Did you check with Petc@ or Adv@nce C@r Audi@ to see if they have the dashboard cover for 2004 Passo. 2. Did you check whether you need a by-pass unit for that car stereo to watch DVD or any video? As per my experience (With a different Pioneer NEX model) i have to put the car in Park position and apply parking brakes (Hand brake) to watch any video..

    Nissan Presea

Is it too loose to use sealing tape that we normally used for plumbing work? The thin white color tape..

    Nissan Presea

    1. Changing the headunit might not harm the look of you car i guess. It might give a better look. Also a good set of speakers which fits to original housing for speakers might be a good option too. Of cause it is important to go to a reputed place to get the job right and neat. 2. Adding new silencer cover might be a good option too. Please note i'm not talking about beat barrel.

    Nissan Presea

Woowww..!! Congrats..That is a beauty my friend.. As others said hope you will do a polish work and most of all keep that original look with out doing any mods. I guess others might be tempted to buy Presea after seen this.. It might be not nice to say this, I don't know why the hell previous owner sell this. The car looks really good.. Anyways wish you all the very best with this car mate..
  7. Anyone feel Forza is easy to play than NFS if you don't have a steering wheel or full racing controller kit?
  8. Talking about shock sensor, one more experience I have is how you set the sensitivity of the shock sensor. When you set the sensitivity to go off the alarm on a kick to the tire (probably the back tire which is most away from the sensor) you can't park along the road because every time a vehicle goes by the alarm goes. Also when there is lightning and thunder the alarm goes to. You would need to adjust the sensitivity to your preference. Or else in those conditions would have to lock the car in silent mode and only lights will be activated.
  9. Mokak..12lacks..??? I think it would cost almost same for Unimo to get a new car.. Anyways as Crosswind said car should be written-off. If its really that much of a damage i think it will be nearly impossible to make it roadworthy again. Hope you will get a favorable solution from insurance.
  10. A video about using additives in fuel This video is originally is about Top-Tier gasoline in US market. But the context of it is interesting. So here in SL we only look to pump Oct95 for better quality fuel where we had bad experience with low quality regular petrol in the past. But this video says its not only the octane level of the fuel is important but also the additives in fuel plays an important role. Our engine tune up person "Mr Dhammika" also has advice us to use an additive once in a while when we pump fuel. After watching this video i'm thinking of adding additive every time i pump fuel. Hope this video would be interesting for all; KMeeg.

    Exposed Air Cleaners

Thanks Ramesh.. So oem air filter is the best suit for me. I do use highway for a short distance but don't drive fast at all... Don't want to give away hardly earned money to the government.. ??

    Exposed Air Cleaners

Ramesh, What are your thoughts about replacing existing air filter with something like K&N air filters which fits to existing air filter housing? (Not the exposed air filters). Due to high flow of air do you think those ones will also cause issues to MAF sensor with dust, moist or even oil from the air filter itself can build up? Let's think about the worst case scenario if your daily commute will have lot of dust / rain. Thank you.
  14. Our usual garage did the change of locks part. Security system was done at S@nL@nka Kandana branch. They have enough space in that place to do it cleanly and nicely. Other places will also have same kind of security systems. I think you should be able to get a basic security system for your budget. If you are in a tight budget check for prices in several reputed places. Regarding the complain i would say don't have high hopes. Report an incident in near by police and its up to them to stop or ignore these kind of things.Best thing is to protect our selves and take precautions. BTW that's just my opinion.
  15. Is you car door locks are old? Bcos when i try to find any kind of clue i was able to open the door with another key (different model car). So what i did was replaced all the locks including ignition key. If you decide to change your keys make sure you has smart keys or not. Bcos if its smart key you would be able to open the door and put key to ignition position but car wont start. For car security systems there are multiple places including S@nL@nka where you can buy car security systems, decent kit would be starting around 8K-12K with free installation. And if you car does not have central locking, a central locking unit would cost around 5K (can't remember the exact amount i spent). I had a same kind of incident at the Kelaniya Temple. I've lost bags, some money, even the headunit. When we go to police we got to know that there is a group that they do this and they are investigating.. . Best thing is not to keep anything inside the car, not even coins. If you headunit is detachable remove it and take it with you. Either way it would be very hard to get rid of these thiefs and some times they are useful too, eg if by any chance if your car gets locked whiles keys inside its a piece of cake for them to open the door right? Anyways, try to change your locks and fix a decent security system to your car.

    Cruise Control

I too feel its not safe to fix after market cruise control system. Also i don't believe cruise control could save more fuel than good control of right foot unless you are driving on a complete flat road. As per my experience cruise control unnecessarily shift gears and rev to keep up the speed you assigned when your car slow down slightly on a hill kind of place. If you are not using cruise you just control your right foot and let the car slow down a bit and pick up speed on flat again. (I mean just try to think of a practical scenario). But cruise control is useful if you have a Diesel vehicle that is equipped with exhaust braking system. When you enable exhaust braking and go down hill you don't need to apply brakes and it will not turn off your cruise. Anyways I personally don't use cruise on long trips because its so boring and i might even fall asleep.. BTW, bottom line is if your car is not equipped with cruise keep it as it is and don't fix after market cruise control system. Hope you have heard about the mysterious sudden acceleration accidents right? If you don't going a little away from cruise control towards sudden acceleration issues, certain cars are equipped with brake overriding mechanism where if by any chance if you get this issue your brakes are powerful enough to stop the car. For those automatic transmission vehicles does not have this feature you could simply put to neutral and apply brakes and do not pump the brakes for any reason because when your throttle is at full it will not give vacuum to your brakes. Please correct me if i'm wrong.. KMeeg.
  17. Sorry to here that your friend met with an accident. So about repairs, If you would ask me i would go to the agents and get it repaired since insurance will pay in full with out any hassle and the agents will deal all insurance stuff and fax the check to the agent itself and you can collect the car from agent without any problems. No need to run back and forth to insurance and to garage. Unless you're friend have a bad insurance company. If possible it would be great to see some pics (may be with blurred registration plates) on the damage and any details about the accident to get some knowledge how well can a Viva Elite withstand an impact or in other words, how safe is a Viva Elite. Anyways, most importantly i wish your friend and anyone who is traveling inside the car is doing well and if by any chance if they were hurt i wish them to get well soon..
  18. Not sure how true this is according to the numbers for DXO Mark ratings Nikons tops in sensors and Carl Zeiss mounted to Nikon tops lenses top ratings.. Camera Sensor Ratings - http://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Ratings Camera Lens Ratings - http://www.dxomark.com/Lenses/Ratings Anybody has any idea about these ratings?
  19. Hope we get an option to tag someone so that person will be notified.. (Eg @MADZ or #MADZ, etc..) But anyways, thanks for the update MADZ..!!
  20. If you could buy 24-70mm f/2.8 or 70-200mm f/2.8 you won't regret well worth the money. Rocket fast focusing and very sharp. Also better to buy a lens protector filter. I already got 1 lens scratched.. (luckily it was not a 2.8 lens). Suggest to get a good one like Hoya HD ones.
  21. I bought one Tamron lens but not much happy with the quality and performance. May be its user's problem..
  22. That is one awesome set of pics with the 55-250.. And about the 2.8 lenses, Yes its really worth the money. Even an beginner like me has no problems focusing for fast moving objects. Focus motor is damn fast...
  23. Best explanation ever..!! Many thanks..
  24. Pericles, What would you suggest? Is it good to buy regular lenses like Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens or to wait for some to collect some money until you could afford L grade lenses? like Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens? The quality will be far better right? KMeeg.
  25. Pericles, How about the availability and prices for lenses compatible for Sony? In SL can we find lenses compatible for Sony as much as we see for Nikon and Canon? And will it be cheap? Bcos when i check online Nikon 70-200 F2.8 VR2 is $2396 and Sony 70-200 F2.8 SSM2 is $2998 (Sony seems to be expensive) Also budget wildlife lenses like Tamron 150-600 would be freely available to Sony A mounts? The reason i'm asking is; do you advice to buy anyone a Sony DSLR vs a Nikon or Canon when you look at the long term for availability and budget for lenses and other accessories? Nikon 70-200 F2.8 VR2 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=nikon+70-200mm+f%2F2.8&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ps Sony 70-200 F2.8 SSM2 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=1008119&gclid=CjwKEAjwo5OpBRDU64qO07OXq00SJADn5hYnjZRS-QYH5TqRUPcapqrsIpeuaYJ-i1dTnBl-8bODqxoCW87w_wcB&Q=&is=REG&A=details Your advice is much appreciated, Thanks in advance, KMeeg.
