  1. You can renew your revenue licence online. 1. Visit http://www.srilanka.lk 2. Create an account (free) 3. Login using the credentials you provided 4. Go to "e Revenue Licence" Everything from that point onwards should be self-explanatory. The payment should be done online. Once you finish the renewal process, obtain a printout of the temporary revenue licence copy and keep it in your vehicle. The original will be posted to the address of the registered owner within 14 days. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  2. Hi Guys, So happy to let you know that this went through!!! :-) You guys were right, the system was not smart enough to figure out that the previous owner is deceased! This was such a headache off my head. Luckily the transfer papers were signed before the previous owner's death. Thanks for the help and advice guys! Davy
  3. Thanks for the info machang! Will definitely have a look as I have to paint my Lancer within the next couple of months.
  4. Hey Gayans87, I have a CS3A and I did a clutch replacement a few months ago. I'm a bit confused here as you have said that the clutch pump is within the gear box. My clutch pump is located right next to the brake master pump and is directly connected to the clutch pedal (the pump which is on top as you have mentioned). The component that's inside the gearbox is the clutch release bearing (fork) which cost me about 18,500 LKR (agents) when I replaced it, and yes it's sealed and the entire unit has to be replaced. This is the only hydraulic powered "pump" sort of component within the gearbox that I am aware of. Clutch release bearing (what the mechanic is holding): Hope this helps. Good luck with the repair bro. Keep us posted on what's happening.
  5. Thanks a lot blkr6, I was waiting for this! :-) Brake cleaner and Disk Brake Quiet - can I purchase them from an ordinary auto spare parts shop?
  6. Well this neighbourhood is enclosed and guarded by a security point; no outsider can enter without permission. So I guess if anyone steals parts out of it, it'll definitely have to be an inside job (or the security guys themselves)!
  7. The first time I saw this BMW like this I went.. "woah...!!!" I moved to a new home in Athurugiriya about an year ago and this car has been lying there since then in an empty block of land in the neighbourhood. I believe it has been there for over 2 years now. I don't know who the owner is or why the car is left abandoned. My thinking was that "some people are too stupid enough to realize that the BMW they left to rust is worth so much more to someone else" Sometimes the wild grass in the land grows so high up that the car is barely visible...
  8. Sylvi, Ah yes, I'm sure you're talking about the strips that most of the Indian bike owners in SL are fond of. I agree with you on the better finish. The transparent plastic over the LEDs makes it water resistant as well. 250 LKR is not bad I guess. Thanks! Davy
  9. Great post mensoft! Made me think of how I used to make crazy circuits for my bike, back when I was schooling! Thanks a lot, I'm definitely gonna try this!
  10. Hi Guys, Thanks for all your advice, help and support with regards to this problem. I will attend to this as soon as possible and will definitely get back to you guys with the status. Thanks again! Davy
  11. Thanks a lot bro! I'll keep you posted on what's happening...
  12. Hi again Sylvi, I had no idea about the levy and late transfer charge. Thanks for sharing that as well. I sure hope I wont have to go through a situation where the previous owner's family is not in agreement of selling the vehicle. I don't think they'll mind because this is a very old car and we've been having it for a pretty long time now. But still... I sure don't want my car to end up like that VW or the Railton. One thing I found out yesterday from my dad was that the transfer papers, although not dated, are signed by the previous owner! That makes things a lot easier I guess.
  13. That's good to hear, let's hope mine goes through without being noticed as well. Fingers crossed.
  14. Thanks a lot miniace. I have sent you an email.
  15. To tell you the truth, if all these legal procedures make no sense, I might go for the "pagaa" option. Thanks Sean!
  16. Hi Sylvi, Thank you, It's always good to get advice from someone who has gone through the situation... First of all, I didn't know that there was a permit to use a vehicle on the consequent death of the registered owner. Are you saying that if for some reason I got into trouble with the car, I could have been dealt with legally for not holding the permit? Right... so the correct legal way is very time consuming. Although I don't mind (because I am not planning on selling this car), But I still prefer if I can do it the other way (get hold of someone at RMV and...). One other thing that I'd like to know is if you think it'd be much difficult for me since the previous owner is not related to me in anyway whereas in your case it was your dad who was the previous owner. Thoughts? Thanks again for sharing your experience. It was really helpful.
  17. Exactly what I thought as well. If the system isn't smart enough to figure it out, I'd have to cross my fingers and submit the documents. I'd prefer if I can do it this way because otherwise I'd have to go through a lot of trouble with all the legal stuff. I think it's wise to get hold of a trustworthy guy working in the RMV and talk about this off the record before I make a move... right? Thanks for your advice!
  18. Hi Guys, My dad bought this 1979 Lancer A72 in 1997 (from one of his good friends), and before he could complete the transfer, the previous owner passed away. The death occured suddenly so my dad didn't even want to think about the transfer at the time because the family was quite devastated with their loss. It has been 14 years and it is I who take care of this car now, I do not have any intention of letting go of her because she has been there all my life. However, I thik its high time that I get the transfer done. How do I get about with it now that the owner is deceased? Is there a legal procedure that I have to go through? Other details: - I have the agreement letter (hand-writen transfer letter with signatures by both parties on stamps) - I have the original vehicle registration documents - The deal was done in March 1997 Thanks in advance! Davy
  19. Hi Trinity, This could be because of a couple of reasons, (wheel alignment and balancing, worn shocks or struts, bent rims, worn engine mounts etc.) but your description is quite clear and I also would like to vote for unbalanced wheels. But since you say that the car got smoother as you increased the speed, I'd have the engine/gearbox mounts checked as well. Because it could be mechanical resonance (vibration transmitted from the engine to the vehicle chassis at a particular frequency) that led your car to vibrate at a certain speed. Just a thought, better check it out if balancing doesn't solve the issue. Good luck!
  20. Thanks for the post mensoft! Aboslutely great stuff! I own a 1979 Lancer A72V. (12 Sri). Been having it since 1997. Superb car, tough as ever!
  21. Hi Trinity, Got your PM. Will find out about the fog lamps and let you know ASAP. Totally agree with you on the point about Mitsubishi not having a good stand in the market (in SL that is) as other Japanese makes. I've been on Mitsubishi from the start and every vehicle was a great experience. Keep in touch machang! Do post about your suspension repair here once you get it done. Thanks! Davy
  22. Trinity, Thanks for the prices machang, looks it's gone up a little bit. As for the performance, it's pretty good actually. I've driven a 1.3L carburetor CS1 and I know what you mean when you said that acceleration is poor. The 1.6 EFI engine does far better than that machang when it comes to acceleration and performance. If you get to drive one, you'll understand what I mean. Is yours a 1.3 carburetor engine? About fuel consumption, mine does about 12 - 14kmpl within the city and like 16 outstation. I was looking around how that was possible and it turns out that the EFI technology is actually MPEFI (Multi-Point Electronic Fuel Injection) which saves a lot of fuel. Front fog lamps, yes my car came with fog lamps. There was a place in Sangharaja Mawatha in Panchikawatte that had Mitsubishi body parts, I will check and let you know. PM me your email address if possible. Why not check at Delkanda? Davy
  23. Hi Rameez, As I said over my email, what your mechanic did when he adjusted the distributor is that he adjusted the engine's ignition timing (probably advanced it a little); I hope he knew what he was doing because this can really mess things up. Another thing is that this roughness could be because power is not reaching the spark plugs correctly. There's a small capacitor attached to the distributor and a contact point set inside the distributor, you might have to check and replace them if there's an ignition problem. Usually after a problem like what you faced, it's godd if you can replace them + clean the distributor cap and rotor thoroughly. As Don said, it also might be due to low compression in one or more cylinders because the gasket leak might have caused water/coolant to enter the combustion chamber which is not a good thing. I think I know a place to get a compression test done, I'll send you details through email as usual. Good luck and keep me posted via email as u always do. Davy
  24. Not at all Rameez. An engine flush liquid is pretty cheap and you can get the engine flushed in a matter of minutes. If your car has undergone regular oil changes, an engine flush might not be necessary, as a matter of fact, old cars don't develop sludge like new cars. Ask your mechanic, he will know if a flush is necessary. After all since the valve body has been taken out now, you can manually have it cleaned. I will send you an email on this as well.
  25. Hi Rameez, Castrol should be OK I guess (I'm using Lanka Super Plus SAE40. Old car - basic oil ), if you're doing an oil change, make sure you do an engine flush before that. That'll clear up sludge and dirt from your engine. Davy
