Sad...even most of the ones that are not "converted" are in bad shape. Tons of bondo used and still looking like they've been struck by hailstones.

Woah! That is damn straight. Looks like the LH30 next to it is also in good shape.

Toyota Prius, Honda Fit/ Vezel Recall Information
Davy replied to osaka_dude's topic in General Automotive
Not that I'm interested in knowing further information about the recall, but I just did a bit of reading up and what I found out from many sources[1] [2] is that this is caused by (and I quote) "high operating temperatures". One instance where the operating temperature can go up is when the car is under load (this page specifically says "such as accleration"), and driving for prolonged durations might cause the components to overheat as well. Just because the official Toyota page does not mention this, doesn't mean this cannot be a reason for failure. I don't normally do this but I've been following your two threads closely (and advised you once - you never listened) and I think you need to start treating people with respect here if you want them to take you seriously. As a newbie, I think you've totally blown your chane of being a part of the community because of your arrogance. Look at how you are talking about a person working at Toyota Lanka as if you personally know this executive to be just a "CIMA guy". And you haven't even met this person. -
This has been discussed several times. Please search the forum. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15808-how-to-search-on-autolanka/ https://www.google.com/webhp?tab=ww&ei=A-1VU_r9MIXX4ATytoCoAQ&ved=0CBkQ1S4#q=site:forum.autolanka.com+number+plate

There were two CS fronts in the shops opposite Sujatha Balika and the fuel station next to it. One was a white one with a different grill (haven't seen that grill on any CS here). The headlights were terribly discoloured in this one. The other was greenish silver and had pretty much everything you wanted (except the hood I think). I might have seen more, but don't remembere where exactly. You'll definitely spot them if you do a run from Gansabha junction to Kottawa. Yeah, some radiators came with ATF oil lines as well but they can be plugged off as far as I remember. Good point though, it's better to buy one without the oil lines to avoid having to swap the tank.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Gotta appreciate the fact that you admitted your fault although I'm not exactly sure if the bus driver could have avoided it if he came slow. Anyway, what's done is done and there's no point in talking about it. What's important is getting your car back into shape and as original. The prices Mahinda has quoted seem to be reasonable. He has a tendency to quote high prices for parts that he knows are rare and are expensive outside. Last time I checked, he didn't have radiators with him and I had to look elsewhere to get hold of one. He might be trying to source one for you keeping a cut for himself. I got mine from a place near Bellanthara junction and it cost me 18,000 or so (this was last year). 22,000 is not bad and maybe you can do a bit of bargaining with the fellow, cause you're buying such a lot of parts from him. As trinity said, try to call US Aut0 P@rts and Euron!pp0n and see if you can get them for lower prices. I can guarantee that you can find all the parts at Delkanda, cause I've seen thee or four Lancer CS half cuts in the area (last week).

Spotted at Nugegoda - Mobile three wheeled toilet. I was seriously LMAO so hard I'm surprised the photo came out this good.

Also curious to know how the noise stopped after the tuneup. What was the actual cause for the noise?

If you are looking for something that looks like a coil, then no, you won't find one because the coil is insulated and since yours has the coil in the distributor, its the black surface you see inside the distributor. I agree with The Don here and think you should get a mechanic to remove the ignition coil to avoid messing things up.
-
If your ignition coil is built into the distributor as Rumesh88 said, then you have to remove the distributor cover to locate the coil. The distributor is where all your high tension leads (plug wires) are attached to. If the coil is in the distributor, you will find only 4 high tension leads connected to the distributor whereas if the coil is external, there will be five high tension leads (4 for the plugs, the other goes to the coil). Follow the fifth lead and you'll end up finding coil.

The Engine Shakes When In Low Speeds (In Traffic)
Davy replied to sampathapg's question in Mechanical problems
If this is the case, I guess it can be checked by shifting into Neutral when in traffic. If the engine still vibrates, then it's probably not an issue with the gearbox. Since OP has said that it feels like a misfire, check the ignition system like NRX has suggested. Could be a faulty ignition lead or coil. -
Good one Sampath! Wishing everyone a very happy new year! Have a great year ahead and be safe! PS: Sampath, You are SPOT ON about the asmi. That's my favourite of all followed by kokis.

It actually looks like you've done a good job there! However, I think I see a warped surface near the opening of the vent. By the looks of it, it looks like the vent itself is also a bit warped. Probably a result of it being exposed to the heat from the sun. Was this alright before you replaced the rexine?

Yeah, imageshack is not free anymore. I use photobucket.

Thanks mazdaspeed! Maybe the edge of the rexine has a margin that is too wide that the plastic vent is unable to properly seat itself. Anyway, waiting for the pics.
-
Thanks H.C! What did you cover the panel with, was it fabric or rexine? Would be great if you could share a photo of the problem you're having so that I can get a better idea. But if you mean that the sharp edges don't stick to the panel, that's probably because you have not used enough glue on the surfaces. And the vent, do you mean the vent is not seating properly? Again, some pics would be really helpful.

About time that you posted the thread! Wow, so the car has only one owner in the registration? That's rare. Is green the original colour of the car? I remember an emerald green being one of the original colours. Anyway, looks like you've had to take care of quite a bit of rust. Nice work! Waiting for more updates.

Thanks for the comments guys! Much appreciated! I basically did a sweep from the Pannipitiya through Delkanda and most of the shops were closed yesterday (I'm guessing 'cause of the new year). Since I went from shop to shop, I lost track of the place I bought this from, but it's a shop at Wijerama (close to the road to that leads to the J'Pura University). On the left as you travel from Maharagama towards Nugegoda. This particular place had only a small collection of rexine, vinyl and stuff, but they had a lot of samples which can be purchased on request I guess. Luckily they had exactly what I was looking for. This place had a black sign board with red lettering in Sinhala that said "CUSION". Wonder if this is of any help, but that's all I can remember about the place. If I happen to pass the place, I'll let you know the name for sure.

Oh and I almost forgot. I was determined to try this myself after seeing the YouTube video below:
