  1. Oh damn. My parents told me about the car in Matara and I even encouraged them to go and see it. Thanks for the heads up (I hope you are not tricking me so that you can buy it. ) I saw your WANTED ad. That was the only descriptive one actually. I guess the only thing to do is keep an eye on the classifieds and hope that they're not sold at the time you make the call. This is more challenging for me, because I'm overseas and it's my parents who are following my instructions and hunting down the cars. So I have to advice them on what to ask the seller and what not. I have a very specific set of requirements like you (CVT gearbox, fully loaded etc.), so it's really hard locating one with all of them. There are several basic Demios on classifieds and they seem to be hard to sell. Anyway, hope you find a good car soon. Wish me the same. EDIT: By the way , the one I missed yesterday was also one with beige/black seats. Was in Kotte. KN number.
  2. He says "if there are scraches its better to a disc pasting", so I still think he means the disc and that he's still referring to resurfacing. I knew of a guy who had a KE20 and never bought new brake liners and always got them re-lined. I'm pretty sure the drums had to be replaced later because of the poor quality material used to manufacture the lining. Oh the arguments I used to have with him... As mentioned by peugeot407, even clutches are re-lined (I believe they are riveted) and reused. They sure are saving on a replacement clutch, but the flywheel and pressure plate are sure to get a good beating off the non standard material on the clutch. There's a popular place in Ja-Ela that does both brake and clutch re-lining.
  3. Join the club! I've been hunting down a decent Demio myself, but the good ones seem to be selling out like hot cakes! Didn't actually know that it was a car that had such a huge demand until I tried tracking one down. I called up six fully loaded Demios and all of them were sold. I missed one yesterday by a couple of hours. It was a minter too. I made a post in the thread below, try reading up on the answer posted by iRage especially about all the grades. Not sure if we have any new Demios here which came with the Skyactive engine. We don't even seem to be having the Demio facelift model (post 2011). http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/13251-mazda-demio/#entry274484 EDIT: I saw several WANTED ads for the Demio on one of the other popular classifieds sites. Guess there are so many others looking for them (unless they were posted by you )
  4. You're welcome! So they had a bodykit for you? Don't they do installation as well?
  5. My all time favourite movie is Terminator - Judgement Day Must have watched it a hundred times. Yeah, that was a really good TV series if not for the abrupt end. Loved it while it lasted.
  6. Back in 2005 or so, one of my friends were looking to buy a car on permit and he was looking for a hatch. I went with him to the Fiat showroom and there was an orange Punto (it was a Grande Punto if I remember correctly). That car instantly caught my eye and I was quite surprised at how much they have added to that little car. I wish I had the money on me to buy one back then. So I totally agree with you on the Punto. It's a great car and I would have certainly bought one if I was in SL right now. One question though and sorry for my ignorance but why a diesel? I've never owned a diesel and my knowledge about diesels are quite limited. So please enlighten me. This is exactly what I'm worried about The Don. My dad was more of a grease monkey than I am. He is the reason why I'm also into cars. However, his interest seems to have deteriorated over the years and I was a bit disappointed to see that. Mostly because they are not up to date with what's going on with new cars. This is a fine example: Just weeks before I sold my Lancer, he was using it and one random day the clutch wouldn't work. The first thing he did was call me and ask if he can replace the clutch cable. I had to explain to him that things have drastically changed over the time that cars used cables for clutches. This is the same person who once replaced the clutch cable of one of the cars we used to had, on his own, because the cable broke right in the middle of traffic at Dematagoda. I looked in amazement at how he did that in a matter of 15 minutes or so after taking a tuk tuk to Panchi and getting a replacement cable. He did all carb repairs on his own, but I know for a fact that he is not too comfortable about taking apart an EFI system.
  7. Pajero, Did you try Delkanda? Some shops in that area specifically sell bumper accents and bull bars.
  8. I've got some more (you're going to love this). First he whines about someone negative repping posts in this thread: Then he calls you a "whiny little b!tch" because you spoke when someone negative repped VVTi in this thread. He's clearly forgotten that he whined about it first. Hypocrisy at it's best!
  9. I'm not here to "show" anything I have or my "street cred". Last time I checked, the forum didn't have a restriction where it said that you cannot post if you don't have a certain level of "street cred". Also, I'm not the type of person who compare myself against others to determine I am inferior than them... you're the one with that problem - remember? And I suppose the reputation you have has given you the liberty to put down others and be a total j***a$$ as well? Asking for other peoples qualifications and experience on a forum I tell you... arn't you ashamed of yourself? And who are you to tell me to leave? The owner of the forum? So when you feel threatened by another person, you drive him away from the forum? Hypocrites like you are the worst thing that has happened to this forum. FYI, A lot of people on the forum got along with Komi. Not just me. At least far more people who get along with you and that big gab of yours. I suppose all those people also have "zero substance and big mouths". So stop talking out of your rear end.
  10. Looks like Peri was right. I'm positive that they sold parts locally though, maybe they have stopped doing that. Check this page out: https://www.facebook.com/prs.lk They have made a post (only 2 days ago) saying that they do Evo 7 conversion (telephone numbers provided). You might want to check them out.
  11. Ah right Was disappointed for a moment there thinking that we didn't get that particular facelift. I had a very close look at the sedan advertised, it's indeed a nice car. My dad however is persistent on going for a hatch, so I doubt I will go for this.
  12. I'm sorry I have to break this to you, but the "others" you're talking about is a group that consists of only one person - you. I've known Komi long enough to know what type of person her is. So I'd rather trust my personal judgement about him over what some random hater on an online forum says. I'm pretty sure everyone else thinks the same. WoW! Ela kiri machan. Well done on your exposure. You're one hell of a special agent you know. This really shows that you can tell the difference between a riced up Lancer and a properly modified Integra. If you read the first reply made on this thread, you can read if I have suggested "only" performance mods. You clearly don't have your facts right. Would you like me to attach my CV along with my qualifications? And to whom shall I forward it? The Car Car Restoration Police? Listen, people who know me know about my "qualifications and experience". I don't need to explain myself to you. Seriously, who do you think you really are?
  13. Let me remind you that you were also part of the so called "butt gang" (quoting from the Project R thread): The difference between you and I is that I stuck with Komi, helping and supporting him while your inferiority complex got the best of you, which turned you into a b!tching machine for all that man's work. If you think that Komi's Integra is no different to a riced up Lancer, then you should for once meet up with Komi and go through everything he has done to that machine. You'll get to know how wrong you are. Also, I suppose the list at the end of this article reads "bodykit, stickers" etc? If you're a real friend of Komi's, you'd admire what he has done to that car. I can understand your thoughts behind you saying that no one else other than you have an understanding about what it's like to build a car from scratch. Yes you are the restoration god and no one else has experienced the same. Yes you are the one that does everything correctly and all we know is to Google and to watch Top Gear. I wish you could come out of that small box of yours and realize that the world is a much bigger place than just you. I never said that the Lancer is the best car in the world. It maybe shitty, but they're special to me. So I don't know what you're on about there. For the last time, I never preached performance to anyone. What you need to understand is that I tried to explain to OP that what he is trying to do to his CS1 is not a good idea. If OP doesn't have a problem accepting my advice, who are you to judge? The car restoration police?
  14. You're right Peri, I shouldn't have said "and other importers" in my post which probably was misleading. They do local sales as far as I know because I do know a couple of people who got parts (not complete bodykits though) for their cars. One guy got the Evo 7 grille. I believe Lasith Malinga's Lancer EX was converted to Evo by them. I was always trying to get him to understand what he is getting himself (and his car) into Watchman. I believe trinity also had the same thought in his mind.
  15. Good to know. There's actually one 2011 Fiesta sedan on the classifieds for 2.8M. I just checked the agent's site, and the facelift that they have in SL seems to be different (in terms of looks) from the one in Australia. This is the facelift version in Australia:
  16. Watched it last night myself. That sure is a long movie after quite some time. A story that vivid and complex at the same time could not have been laid out in a shorter time period I guess. I agree that it's a great movie. Makes you wonder about your existence and about what we perceive as reality as humans. This is probably why it takes a lot of thinking to understand the story itself I guess. Another watch over the weekend sounds good. I think I'll do the same.
  17. Did you check the Accolade link I shared (first reply on this thread)? There obviously are other bodykit importers, but I'm afraid I'm unaware of any other reliable sources. The link trinity has shared above demonstrates the actual extent of the fabrication needed for the quarter panels. This is the most significant bit of work you will have to get done. The Evo X has a wide bodykit that makes it possible to do a conversion with zero metal work, but unfortunately not on the previous generation. One thing that you need to keep in mind before attempting the conversion is that your car has a 1.3L engine which in it's stock state is a bit underpowered. The additional weight of the bodykit will make the car feel more underpowered. The engine that comes on the Evo 7 is a direct fit to the Lancer, if your budget is expandable, that's the first thing I would think of buying. Engine model 4G63T. You will of course have to go with better brakes and suspension to cope with the additional power.
  18. Listen MasterDon, you can go ahead and settle whatever scores you have with Komi, with him personally. Just leave me out of it. I should however point out the hypocrisy in your post above. In your second paragraph you say that "real" members don't mind whatever someone does with their cars as long as it's safe and legal.... right after you finish yapping about someone's Honda in the first paragraph. If a "real" member that "really love cars" will not mind whatever they do with their cars, then why care about what someone does with their Honda or Datsun? Aren't they legal or safe? So, you don't have to mentor me on how to be a "real" member on the forum. All of us know jolly well about what's frowned upon here and what's not. If you have a problem with what I'm doing, take it up with the moderators and the site admin and let them deal with me. Period.
  19. Thanks! The few hatches that are around should be facelift examples then. They've taken a good looking car and made it look even better. It's very popular in Australia and the two door Fiesta ST is also seen occasionally. Anyway, I'm guessing the price of the fiesta hatch is gonna be a bit over my budget at the moment though.
  20. Thanks, Good to know that the dash can be locally converted. Thanks for the suggestion The Don. I actually thought about this, but I couldn't find any Fiesta hatchbacks around. About spares, yes it's kind of an important factor and I'd rather have my father find spares easily. He used to love getting grease under his fingernails, but not so much now.
  21. That's actually the second car I called and this too is sold. This actually is not a basic version right? It does have fog lamps, double din dash, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers and so on. The only thing I see missing are projector headlamps and multi-function steering. I'm currently doing exactly what you said and looking for one with a tachometer... and CVT possible. If it has fog lights and the double din dash, then great! If not, I'll probably buy the kit and install them I guess. Did you fix the double din conversion kit after you bought the car or was it there when you got it? I hope the multi-funciton controls work on the aftermarket player; I believe they do.
  22. Thank you for the response. 1. Makes sense as to why the facelift version is nowhere to be seen on ads. Like fookie has said above, it could be due that importers are reluctant on bringing down non-hybrids. Especially when it comes to hatchbacks since there are options like the Fit Hybrid and the Aqua. 2. There's more in existence then than I initially anticipated. 4. Lucky you. Hopefully I'll find a similar one. I found out that the factory spec fog light kit is also available on eBay, similar to the double din conversion kit. So I'm wondering whether it's okay to go for one without them. The tachometer is a must and CVT is nice to have. Glad to know that the agents and third party workshops are good as well. It's just about finding a good example now.
  23. You don't have to spawn multiple threads on the same subject. Your "Evo Bodykit" and "Beat Silencer" threads are all part of one project right? So stick to one thread. Please. The simplest answer to your question is "No". The Evo has a wider rear end. The rear doors, quarter panels are different from the Lancer, so you'll have to get down the entire evo conversion kit if you want to do a proper job. Some swap the entire rear end while others make do with a wide bodykit and change the tail light inserts. Ricing up a car so that it looks and sounds like something it's actually not is frowned upon on the forum. At least by most members. So tell us about what you are planning to do with your Lancer. A cosmetic makeover or the real deal?
  24. Thought so. I removed the upholstery and greased all four doors because of this issue. Water drains directly over the central lock actuator (which is sealed), but the actuator motor shaft (and linkage) tends to corrode and get stuck when water comes into contact with it. The photo below is of a CS door actuator. Note the metal tip at the top of the actuator - this is what gets stuck - most of the time. Due to this all the linkages up to the lock cylinder "freezes" in one position making it hard for you to turn the key. At least that was the case in all my doors. Not sure if using WD40 on this part is a good idea because if the chemical gets inside the housing, it might damage the moving components inside. So I suggest spraying some WD40 to a piece of cloth and cleaning the shaft with the cloth. Then apply a liberal amount of grease to cover the entire shaft (and the linkage that looks like a small metal plate) so that water does not come into contact with it. Did the trick for me on my CS3. You can spray WD40 onto the rest of the mechanism as others have suggested.
  25. 3. Good to know that more are out there. 4. I understand about the double din player. I just thought having one opens up options like having a reverse camera and stuff as well. Again, it's good to know that the car is spacious. My father is an average sized person, so I'm hoping he'll be comfortable. As for enjoyment, it'll be my father who will be enjoying the ride then. I will definitely drive it when I come down for holidays. Watched a few reviews as well and the comments about the bumpiness was mentioned in more than one review. I too assume that it's not something to worry about much, especially because my father will just be driving the car to work about 20km a day (return trip) and maybe a quarterly trip outstation towards Kurunegala, so it should be fine. Fuel is also not much of a concern because he is provided a good portion of fuel by his company. Thanks for the pointer about the mounts. Most 2009 - 2010 Demios that are up for sale have done between 40,000 - 60,000kms on average, so depending on where and how the car was driven, your point maybe valid. I contacted C0lonial Motors to inquire about spare part availability and they replied saying that they cannot provide information without me providing them a chassis number. It actually looks like C0lonial Motors has built up a good reputation though, regardless of how long C@r M@rt was the agent for Mazda. Apart from the agents, I believe M@zna Motors in Pepiliyana will also undertake repairs for the car. They're supposed to be good. Thanks again!
