  1. Some Serenas are diesel converted. Like the KR42 s are Petrol chasis no, how to find if the vehicle is not original diesel ? (better I start a new discussion )
  2. I have already went through these links... but couldnt find what I want Actually I'm planing to buy a vehicle which is having these engine models. How can I identify that it is having a cd20 or cd20t?
  3. Hi friends, What is the difference between Nissan cd20 and cd20t engines. Can we identify a turbo engine from its physical appearance ?
  4. I have a corolla 1.8 and it does over 16km/l in long term travelling, Think its all ok compared to the same model (121), also with a great pulling power. I had a 1.3 corolla (110) couple of years back, but my friends those who had 1.5 110 cars did almost the same fuel consuption. As I have heard, Nissan N16 model with 1.3 engines are very poor in fuel consuption compared to 1.5 and 1.6 N16 models.
  5. Im ok with the ground clearance, and looking for a dual ac one. will that cooling system be a big issue ?
  6. Ya, thats true, always I reserve around 50k for small small stuff after buying a vehicle. Thank you so much for the advises !!! Really apprecite it.
  7. Thats true, tracing the history of the vehicle is the best way. But some may not be able to do so with their busy lives / lack of proper contacts..... buying the vehicle from a trustes source is the best way. Better you always buy the vehicle from the registered owner or from a reputed place/person. Even paying a little more for such a vehicle is good rather than getting into so many troubles. Unfortunately, people pay more for those misleading sellers . Normally what those cheating guys do is like - they put new tyres/alloys , seat covers, carpets, paint the front and rear buffers, do the small touch ups, cut and polish the body... and so on to make the vehicle so called mint condition... actually they make an artificial mint condition
  8. Thank you so much for the info. One more small clarification.... does that mean , if we make that fan to run all the time, we can travel a long distance without any issue ? Hope all most every van is set to automatically run that fal once the engine is up. Highly appreciate your valuable info abt Serenas.... It seems its ok to go for a Serena, English No for less than 14Laks if the van is in good condition, isnt it? (I will be using it for over 2 years time, want to have a van with good interior and exterior condition as well ) I know finding a good Serena is the next challenge .........
  9. Thank you all for your replies!!! Hi nexus, Does that mean it comes with a turbo engine in all VX models? how can we identify a turbo engine? Dothey come with that cooling fan you mentioned above or do we have to add it additionally?
  10. Hi friends, any idea about Serena Vans? 93-96 models. You can find it around 13 -15 laks (G*-XXXX number)... I dont bothering abt the reselling value. Serena is the van I found in that price range that comes with enough options (Dual AC, PS, PM,electic door, adjustable/rotating seats). I want an auto gear diesel Serena. Since there are several models like VX, FX, what is the best model I should select? Some people say not to buy it, but without proper explanation If I find a well maintained one( I can do the basic maintenance stuff once I but it as well) will I still have to face so called troubles regularly? Is it difficult to find parts for Serena?
  11. ya.. thats true . Anyway there are lot of people those who dont run over 6000-7000 Km per year. So for an example, a 2001 model car which came to SL in 2004 with 30000Km in the ODO(That is a J*-xxxx number plated) may still have only around 70000km in the meter. So a K*-xxxx series car having less than 100k in the ODO would be acceptable in general. However Its better you pay more attention on enterior/exterior and engine condition of a vehicle, before looking at theODO meter value !!!
  12. Yes.. 100% sure. One of my friends is also having the same car, with Super ECT. As fas as I know, luxels didnt come with cvt's. ( I dont knw abt the models came after 2004)
  13. Im owning a Luxel and as far as I know, it is not having a CVT gearbox. Please correct me if Im wrong. http://www.toyota-corolla.net/specs/2001.10/2200/ http://www.toyota-corolla.net/specs/2002.9/2182/ http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/toyota/corolla/2001_10/2203/ http://specs.amayama.com/specs-toyota-corolla-2001-october/2203/
  14. Its true... although it is highly a reliable and easy to maintain car, it is getting really overpriced.... anyway my advice is not to pay over 31 to a JE-xxxx Luxel, that amount is also bec its manufactured in 2003. Anyway Luxel is not having a CVT gear box, it is having a Super ECT (super intelligent 4 speed automatic) gear box, as far as I know is a highly durable one.
  15. I personally know abt a toyota Corolla 121 car (brand new imported, manual) which has over 250k in the meter. It is owned by a government bank, company maintained. Car is still in very good condition without any engine repair done (only the usual maintenance is done). If you change its ODO meter to somethin like 80k, no one will suspect!!!! So better you always consider abt the condition of the vehicle, not the ODO meter
  16. I paid Rs.9500 x 4. (185*65*15) my car tyres and it seems all ok for me. (its still less than 4000km)
  17. I replaced all 4 tyres with Maxxis. I have drove abt 2000km and seems eqallly good as my previous bridgestone. I went for it bec the tyre shop owner(he is my friend) told me that it is the tyre that they get the least no of complaints. Anyone having a better experience with Maxxis tyres??
  18. If you concern abt the 2nd hand market, go for an Allion 240 or for a Corolla 121G grade. Corolla Luxel is also a superb car (Im owning a one) which has more options than the above two and also a 1.8 engine with very good fuel consuption. If you need to go for a little new model, belta 1.3 (for >3.5M , you will have to go for 2007 model), Yaris 1.5 (little difficult to find, but it has the same Axio engine). I dont have much idea abt Honda models that goes in that range. Analize all the options you have and go for the best that matches your requirement/choise
  19. Hi, Im owninga Luxel, 1.8 engine, 2001 model. It is metalic green in colour and a JL-*****. car is in mint condition except auto wiper, auto light dimming you have mentioned above. A guy is asking to buy this for 2.9M (it is still just 2 months I bought this, so no idea of selling this so soon). So I think if the car is with K nuber series, and if you can negotiate to around 31, it will be a good price. abt the car....... this is really really a wonderful car.... it is having a very food pullin power.... even 2010 Premio cannot pass my car if we are drive in a race!!!! It is having the highest no of options in that series as well. and the best thing is that it does over 15km/L outside city limits. One of my friends also havin the same which I have, he went on a trip to Trinco in his Luxel and an Axio. His Luxel had done Rs.2000 less in fuel at the end of the journey. Anyway better you check with a person usin the same 2003 model as well.... and of course this is having little less market value conparing to 1.5engines. that is not bec the car is bad, but bec of the myths of our people here in Sri Lanka!!!
  20. 100% agree with you if not botheing abt the re-sale value. Sri Lanka is having a peculiar car market...!!! still the demand for a 10 year old 121 car is many more times higher than of a 3 year old 141....
  21. I agree with the option of going for a BN Yaris around 30000Km. But since we r haivng a silly 2nd hand market, those BN ones have a lesser 2nd hand market. So think abt it if you are concernin abt the 2nd hand market !!! Anyway my advise is not to bother much abt the ODO meter when buyin a car in SL!!! Highly pay your attention on the condition of the vehicle (body, engine and interior). You can find very good condition 121 s which have over 130k in meter which are better than the 40k ODO meter ones. I personally know a 121 car which has over 250k in its ODO meter( this is owned by a bank and a regional manager is using it) and is still in excellent condition, which has not done any major repair yet. If you change its meter to 50k, I'm 100% sure that no one will believe abt that 250k thing. There are car dealers those who import cars which have run over 100k and make them to 15k .....still if you buy them, you can run them for an average time period of 5 years without any major issue.(Think abt that 250k car). So try to identify the true condition of a car before buying it...!!! If you want a good 2nd hnd market (sell your car quickly /to a good price), go for a famous brand (121,allion,vios,belta..may be few more). But in reality, famous ones may not be the best ones.....but it is the way how Sri Lankan car market flows

    Corolla Luxel(122)

Im using a 2001 Luxel and it does very good in fuel, specially outstation... you can go above 16km in long distance travelling.. it does around 10km in Colombo. This is an excellent car that you can buy for a little cheaper price than a G grade 121 ( 1-2 laks lesser than G grade).... but it is having more options than 121G grade and also a very powerful engine!!!!
  23. True..Luxel does 16 km outstation and 10 km in city limits.. its a wonderful car!!!
  24. Go for a G grade or for a Luxel. Luxel is the highest grade and also with a powerful engine (1.8), but with a very good fuel consuption. I have driven a luxel and it is marvellous!!! It is a very confortable and a powerful car...even a brandnew Axio cant challenge with its performances. So my advice is go for a Luxel or for a G grade Corolla, JDM model.
  25. Go for a Luxel... I own a 2001 model...it is the highest grade in 121 series with highest options. It does fuel well.. 10-11 in city limits and 15-17 outstation. If you need the driving comfort/great feeling... then go for the 1.8 Luxel !!!
