  1. I want to know if there is a permit scheme for SL expat workers who worked abroad and returned ,can show proof of remittances back home when there too,but returned 8 months back so is there a time limit IF there is/was a permit that I can use?
  2. well if you want a low budget car with English numbers I will suggest a Proton Wira (1500 EFI model) which can now be bought for something in between 900k to 1.1 million, basically these cars are with Mitsubishi Engine and gear box hence spares are not an issue as they share all Lancer components, they are comfortable and do good on fuel for a 1500cc that age (dont buy 1300 as they dont do well on fuel) Only issues are the plastics are brittle so many cars had cracked dashboards (esp 300- series ones), English no's were better I guess ,also 2nd hand market is not that good, but if I'm in your place i will go for one
  3. how can you compare Kenwood or Pioneer with a Chinese set,its like comparing a BMW and Mercedes against a Bajaj trishaw!
  4. yes your right as for example if you take the 1985 Lancer GLX and compare with the Toyota Corolla of the same year the Lancer was way ahead in features like the RPM meter,Digital clock, design style, opening the fuel lid and boot from inside etc The B11 Sunny was second to the Lancer but a very good car and very economical (i think better than the Lancer of that age)
  5. Has anyone used CEAT tyres and if so please share your experiences (im interested in reviews for size 13 radials)
  6. Well like Don i too am a great fan of Mitsubishi but I have to say that for a daily runner the Colt is not the car in Sri Lanka as not many are around as such parts availability will be limited to the agents can be expensive so personally i wont buy it,but its your money and your wish !
  7. Once drove with a flat tyre on the way to Kandy for maybe 500-600 metres in the old Lancer A72 to the tyre shop, both tyre and tube were gone for good!
  8. congratulations please share the pics of the car also did you ask the prev owner about the timing belt change if ur not sure if he is telling the truth just go ahead and change it to save future nightmares!
  9. if you want to check before you buy you can take it to car checks in Col 5 and they inspect and give a report (i used their services twice last year)
  10. i saw it on a news item in one of the papers last month,no they wont have the owners address just the name ,reg no and engine no which i think is good to prevent stolen and dodgy vehicles being passed around to a great extent
  11. If I'm not mistaken there was a move to computerize all vehicle records and for a fee prospective buyers can buy check out a vehicles owners name and engine no when you enter the reg no Is that website up and running or any idea when it will be online? provided the news item is true

    Lancer Cb8

yup its nothing to do with use ,its the type of and quality of plastics used, even my lancer C12 had that issue with AC vents falling off and cracking/fading also the Proton Wiras which share a lot with the CB series Lancers have the same issues with plastics!
