Ripper.... I though that the temp gauge indicated the water temp,? isn't that correct?
-
The amount of energy ( calorific value) in one ltr of 95 is more than 90, so theoretically what you say is correct but the engine is built to withstand much more than this difference, so nothing will happen to the engine internals by using 95. But lower octaine fuel could result in engine knocking which is worse. I know, but a fuel which burns cleaner means its more refined right ? if I am not mistaken the 95 is extracted from a greater level of refining and not only by mixing additives to the 90 ( hence the additional cost ) . So which means it should have less impurities than 95. Less impurities in the fuel means there will be less residue in the fuel system. Kind of like a triple distilled Vodka will be more smoother than normal one...

Motocade has several gauges.... they also have clusters where u can put few other if you fancy . But could be some cross connection with the wires with the fuel gauge maybe ?
-
Well.. usually high performance cars have a higher compression ratio and will need to be fed with 95 oct, by that definition I doubt the 1.3 Vitz will fall in to this category. So you should be ok with the 90 oct. But if money is not an issue just go ahead and use 95 oct, there is nothing wrong. Komi : If 95 gives a better/cleaner burn this means there is less impurities and residue in the fuel, so wouldnent this mean it will be better on stuff like fuel lines, injectors etc ?

Putting a fabric seat cover may not work as you have leather seats it will keep sliding and will sag and look ugly in no time. Plus this will not stop the crack from spreading. A lot will depend on the extent of this crack, if its big enough best is you get that section re done at a cushion works place. But finding the exact match maybe difficult since it may have faded.

I have a loan from HSBC, they called it a personal loan to be paid over 5 years, on a floating rate. So far no issues with them. But I have heard that Peoples Leasing gives the best rates.

Good roads = Better fuel economy ?

Like said by Nilantha the service station guys will try to sell the oil that gives them the biggest margin, so best is for you to specify what you want put in before hand. The definition of 20w50 is well explained by NRX. If you are changing the oil you also need to change the oil filter

I assume A*W would have access to Nissan Corp, although they don't bring down the GT-R, I am sure they would be able to sort something out if required. Anyway there are plenty of other cars/boats/machines in SL without agents and they still run.

Its also quite amazing how much productivity we loose by sitting in front of a computer and trying to be " pora " on online forums....

Care to explain why you think its utter rubbish ? Petrol does expand at higher temp and that's a fact. The link given by Peri ( Snopes site) mentions of a ATC enabled pump, I seriously doubt some of our SL pumps have this feature. Most sheds including Ceypetco sheds are now buying the cheap Chinese pumps as the cost of the good brands is too much. And on the second point it mentions the fuel filters, again I doubt most of our local sheds properly maintain these filters or even if they have such. There was a incident where a well known shed had water going in to the storage tank, and they continued to pump this water mixed petrol to several cars before identifying the issue.
-
Thanks whmsujith, the points are valid, actually I always try to pump early morning around 6:30, its kind of a weekly routine now since I pass the shed on my way. The other good thing to pump in the morning is since there is less movement in the pertol from overnight the amount of sediments mixing in will be less . Also your point on the pumping at high speed is valid since the pump works on a flow meter and at high speeds air bubbles are generated more. However the benefit of all these could be very less , but no harm since it does not cost you anything. Would you mind elaborating a little bit more on this, and please mention which shed you had this issue ?

Think your calculation is wrong... first are you correctly reading the consumption at each tank full ? Best or the only way is to top up and calculate the difference til the next top up Vs the KM done during this period. Say you do 2000 Kms per month the additional cost of the 1kmpl difference will be only Rs 3,000/=. Btw is it a auto ? if so there is nothing wrong with the vehicle or the type of fuel..

How Stupid Unimo's Sales Executives Are !!

This reminds me of a story which was related to me by a driver few years back ....... when he was a the Merc service center to collect the GMs car, there had been another chap in a white sarong next to him... the lady at the reception had called out the vehicle and told this guy in Sinhala to tell the " mahatthaya " that some part had to be replaced at the next service etc..etc...... or something to that effect, but the guy in the sarong had replied " that's alright is my car...!! Only 3 votes for the US of A ? , considering Henry ford, the hot rods, NASCAR and all that American muscle car culture I am sure they deserve a bit more votes... Japan just copied America in the way they made cars, they may have all the technological advances of mass production but I doubt a lot of Japs are passionate about their cars as the Americans are....

Wow.. KX number ? Did you get an advance number or is KX whats going currently ? We are very close to the end of the K 's ....!! -
Althouth Hyndai & Kia are virtually the same company the local agents are different. From what I have heard the Hyndai outfit is better. If I remember correctly the local warranty is 3 years.
-
Machan.. when u say complaining it not just putting a note in the complain/suggestion box. You need to take it to the highest level possible. If I am not mistaken the head of Kia is a guy called Mahen Thambai*ya or something like that, track down the guy and make sure you explain your issue, if that fails find out the owners of the local agency and talk to them. Ideally the difference in the FX rate from the time you were promised delivery to the actual time u receive the vehicle should come off the guy who lost your documents. They as employees of Kia are responsible on behalf of the company and they cannot simply get away from that liability. Its a simple case of negligence and you can take this case to town if you want to. I thought they had stopped offering the diesel sportage ?

An Aluminium hood rack is under 20Kg ( this is a proper ARB rack, not the cheap ones sold in Darly rd) . Since the M Sport is 7 seater this is a very good way to get additional cargo space when going on long trips with a big family. Also if you get the removable cross bars, its pretty easy to remove when not needed. But I feel a rack gives a 4x4 a nice off road look.

Thats a single turbo EJ20 and finding one is not very easy and according to OP it came out of a 2007 car. And you know there are not many such cars in Colombo, only a handful ( Coincidental that one such car had a busted engine just last week) . Plus I am sure there will be a lot of B4 owners who might want to upgrade their motors and the single turbo is much less complicated, but doing a single turbo conversion on a twin turbo is not that easy. So my point is the engine and tranny is worth more on its own than trying to fix it to a 92 car. If OP is doing this for resale purpose doing this is not worth it.

Both S*u lanka and El * ardo are seling lot of crome stuff, but please dont waste your money on these it just makes the car look bad.... But I have seen a few M Sports with LED lights, looks like direct fit units, very nice. Another thing you could go for would be a nice hood rack, the new sport seems to be bit too rounded for my taste , so adding a hood rack would be a nice touch. Also pretty handy if you actually use all 7 seats.
