  1. Hey, well said and great thinking. Few S500's most are badged as 500's. Presidential fleet owns I think a few. Try and go for the Series ll version which is the face lifted version. If you don't run it regularly motors and things try to go bad, other than than look for corrosion on the doors, bit common on this model. If its a self leveling suspension the rear shocks are abt 140k each. But great car, well in my opining the greatest last S class was the 140 series as a true Mercedes Banz as after tha all became Chrysler Benz's Other parts are relatively ok, I got old 126 - 380, pulled out after six months still the feeling is great. Good luck
  2. Sorry to hear. Keep safely the copy of the approval given. Check / write to them and get the confirmation the reason why they are declining. well if its genuine reason for the decline for ex, the driver was drunk, insurance has lapsed etc thats a different matter. But, if they are at fault 1. you could complain to the Insurance Ombudsman as mentioned above 2. you could complain to the Consumer Services Authority (things are taken very seriously here) 3. Get a good lawyer to send a letter of demand. I am sure you will get it.
  3. Welcome to the Honda Club. As advice above if you could stretch the budget bit ore you could get a decent EK 3. Its a good car, auto ones depending on teh driving pattern may give about 10 kpml in a mix of heavy traffic and ordinary traffic. My experience with my car in city about 10kmpl and kandy and back with bit of trashing got 12.65kmpl, and have got even slightly higher on more flat roads. Try to get a low mileage car and specially a cared car. Over the last 19 yrs I gave had 3 successive Honda's, Can recommend and hope you find your dream a reality fast. Welcome and Good Luck
  4. This looks more of a Sahara than a Cygnus. Anyway if you are referring to 65- it's definitely a Sahara, Cygnus they don't do a diesel version. 65 - Sahara in Good nick was hovering abt 8 mil before the budget tax cut, I believe it must hv dropped to abt 6.5 to 7 mil bracket now, Its 4.2 ltr and does abt 6 kmpl.
  5. I would recommend you to take it to Stafford, they are fully equipped, conversant and reasonable charges. Good luck
  6. I would recommend Honda, may be you could check it out with a freing who owns one or try some test drives of cars for sale. Good Luck
  7. No Agents wouldn't support as they don't import this model. Fuel - I think more than the power to weight its to do with the sensors / and our low quality fuel probably. I had no specific issues as I bough it unreg for home use and when I realized issues specially with fuel we sold it after about 5 months. It may be worth looking at some other options.
  8. Hi we had a Matrix GLS , it is quiet heavy on fuel. Colombo it did about 4-5 km pl. Colombo Kataragama and back it did @ 6 km pl. Though some claims it does well I have spoken to few users and all get around 5 to 6 kmpl. So fuel side is out. But it is quiet comfortable, leg room yes, Spares bit of an issue as you may be picking up a vehicle that has been in Sri Lankan Roads for about 3 to 5 years. So sooner or later you need to be replacing some parts, agents would not support as they are imports and few Panchikawatte shops would bring you down if needed. market has settled around 1 to 1.35 mil. But with all these other cars coming in to the market now due to lesser duty, I wonder whether that market would stand same in 2 years. May be you need to re think or be happy with a Matrix. Good luck
  9. SAS good, another very god place is ATCo down Stanley Tilekeratna Rd close to Jubilee Post, they give a guarantee too.

    Car Covers

I still got the problem of a good cover for two vehicles. However for the jeep & a car which under the garage but I still wanted a cover to protect from dust etc.. I got covers from Nawala Cushion and over the last 2 years they have been quiet good, no damage to the paint as it got soft lining inside, cost around 7500 for the jeep & 6000 for the car.

    E34

its a nice car specially f you could get one with the M50 engine, try to get 520 rather than the 518 purely on better performance. A friend bought a 525 for 12/50, all depends on the condition and the history. Specially if you are not running much, its a beauty to have. Good luck

    Stuck @ 5th Gear

Whats your car, how much mileage it has clocked, what is the play at the lever, Also check the gear box mounts before removing the box.
  13. Hmmm...... I was in love with Volvo's and used few.... Its a sad state..... They will of course will hit the mass market with affordability and may easily turn it around for Profit making, but at what costs of the safety standards and the brand etc... We should be able to see some new Volvo's on the roads..
  14. recently he has supplied my friend some Chinese parts. Costs less, lesser quality too, so may be it is worthwhile to check whether its a original, OEM from Europe or China.
  15. Whilst what you try what is said above, first Pls try what that mechanic said, if your deisel filter gets blocked this could come up. Then show it to a good electrician. Is your vehicle a turbo, if there is a problem in the turbo too the same glow light could indicate.

    Mazda 626

This model / spec works well with a better environment than ours, spares are less, body parts less, very few cars in SL, agents wouldn't help much, for our roads the suspension may not last too long and replacement would be scares as well as costly. unless one is not running much and willing to bear with all....
  17. ATCO at Nugegoda, have bn with them over a decade

    Mazda 626

lovely model, but better stay away in Sri lanka
  19. As advised by others too, my simple advice too is NOT to convert, but if you really want the savings try to go for a original diesel, still if you really want to convert get a original diesel engine for the 100 chassis code which is 2.2 ltr engine ( It think this is called the 3c, but bear in mind the 3c doesn't do much fuel compared to the 2C turbo)
  20. IST,
  21. Be cautious with Malabe guy....
  22. Car was really good, comfort, handling, features etc... Auto gearbox (generally Peugeot Auto's I think is not the best) had an issue once at Dambulla and had to send it back to CMB in a carrier
  23. Is it a manual, if in condition if u cud get it little lesser u got a deal I think. We sold last may 2002 G plate auto for 1.6Mil
  24. By the way, how much you'll think a very good e46 320 d, agent import, 2000 registration one owner, low miles of 24k with all records would be around. tks
  25. The other day at Inland revenue Office at Jawatte there was a gentlemen making inquiries about same, they were quiet helpful giving details, why not do a visit and check it out.
