  1. machan, What caused your to replace the clutch ? Worn out or any issue ? @Trinity, Mine clocked at 99k and do you know what interval we need to change manual gear oil and what grade that we need to use. Some Singaporean forums said that 75-80W is the oil that we should use and the service millage is around 60000 miles.
  2. Thanks, Trinity. I will check then, I guess I know where the three mounts are... Yeah, the hubcaps are genuine... But before I bought the car some dumbass has removed them in a way that one of the two inner fitting rings to broke off, maybe during a tyre puncture. Anyway good luck machan with your repairs...
  3. Everything has a constraint called lifetime, looks like a genocide is happening at the moment.... You have to work some extra hours or rob a bank with full face helmet :) Mine is 99k on the clock and I'm hearing 'Tak Tak' noise whenever I go over a pothole. It's a metallic noise I'm not sure whether it's coming from shock or the wheel cup (front wheel cups have only one inner ring instead of two, to be fixed to the wheel). My second set of tyres are reaching the end of the service too, but I'm sure I can do more than 5k with them... Trinity any clue on how to check the status of Engine mounts?
  4. I ordered the same two H4 bulbs for my Lancer and they are really good than the stock Philips bulbs. The high beam is whiter and brighter where as the low beam is yellowish and still lights things up way better than stock bulb. I bought for 24 USD and took a damn one month to arrive to this remote city called Colombo. I think this bulbs have a lesser lifespan than stock bulbs (It was there in the comparison chart in the cover)
  5. New car buyers are in a rush, they don't bother running without a license plate... And do all the free styliing and tuk tuk driving.

  6. One of my friend got his T Belt changed here https://goo.gl/v2NZYh , though that was a Nissan he said that place was good. I went there once to change my brake pads one year ago, and service was quick and decent with proper tools.
  7. Can't be a 45000 for T Belt, tentioner and oil seals (Still we don't have that much of inflation rate). They might have quoted the price with Water pump may be (better ask them what're the parts that they're gonna replace for that cost), You can get the job done from outside, but better to get Genuine parts from the agent.
  8. Hey Vidura, I got the job done roughly one year ago at Agents for just under 28k. Please refer to the tread below for more useful info on timing belt change and other stuff. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/16275-mitsubishi-lancer-cs3-timing-belt-change/
  9. For a moment I thought 2400 LKR is a fair deal when Magnum is talking about something around 70,000 LKR
  10. Hi Davy, Yeah the Lancer got one (mine is CS3, 2008 though), Thanks to this tread I manage to change mine simply.... Replaced a non-genuine one which cost me Rs. 2400/- When AC is on some days the car smelled like pee when the old filter was there, now that issue is gone. (I found this tread when I was looking for a solution to get rid of Pee smell in my car)
  11. "Rheostat" the mystery word it is Well mine still works fine and as Sierra said it works, so worth giving it a try. Will PM you if I come by. Thanks for kind help buddy !
  12. Thanks Sierra, that's good news, so better start off with 5 sided SMDs from eBay. So let the big wait begins (from China to Sri Lanka)
  13. I checked that too, I took off the indicator panel and light a torch and checked every warning light that doesn't have a bulb on as far as I can remember there was no indicator to display seat belt status, so it must be the reason as Davy said because those belts are not pre-tensioners. Edit : Gosh I replied to one year old conversation
  14. That's really great ! I always wanted to try this but I was not much sure of these chinese SMDs, Looks like they work . BDW Trinity, machan did your car come with a adjustable dashboard illumination switch ? I'm curious how LED will work with the illumination adjuster... Thoughts ? Could you share the Ebay link where you ordered the 5 way SMD...
  15. For some reason when i see this Fuel Shark thing, what comes to my mind is "Fifty Shades of Gray" the .
  16. hey, Rs. 15'000 for Muffler, there are plenty of Chinese sirens that can be fixed to alert people that you're coming. Tip: You can overcome the fuel efficiency loss by using Carbon Fiber duct tape on your hood (Carbon fiber is super light - Less weight -> More Millage)... Some more tips over here
  17. Nice cars but both run in less than a quarter of fuel left. Looks like in Toyota warning blinks Anyway the fuel consumption is highly depend on the driver and the route. Within a month's time traffic got bad to worst in Malabe - Battharamulla - Rajagiriya area bringing down my stats to 8 - 9 kmpl. (mine is not a ex though, 1.6L, GLX).
  18. 100% Agree on both. When fully loaded, the ground clearance is bit low and you need to be cautious when you run over small humps and pits on the road. After sometimes it'll be embedded to your driving pattern. My dad busted front bumper clips within first two months Being a car with automatic transmission, it perform decently while achieving good fuel economy.
  19. You can get it done by Koswattha laugfs also, the Rs 1600 Labor cost, and around 1 L of Brake fluid will be needed. Today I inquired the same for my Lancer, that was their estimation for my car. So it would be the same for your case too.
  20. Hi Isanka88, We'll my car met with an accident & had to replace the bonnet, radiator and AC condenser. Bonnet from the agents it was 58k but I replaced with a Recon bonnet and it was 35k too (quoted price by garage). i'm pretty sure that you can find one below 35k but not very cheap. There was a thread saying the price of a bonnet is around 17k. Thread on Lancer Spare parts Just Read this thread too Try this guy called Mahinda who does recon parts. His number was in one of those two threads.
  21. Today I went to AutoBox. I asked them to do an inspection before starting the job. There was no other issues except the busted lower arm bush, they had machinery to remove the bush without much effort. After installing new pair of bushes, got the wheel alignment checked. Did a test drive in bumpy church street Nothing unusual heard of felt. The parts costs lower arm bush - Rs. 1300.00 per with discount Wheel alignment - Rs. 750.00 with No discount Labor was (including the removal of the bush) Rs. 1200.00 with No discount Thanks @trinity for your support, much appreciated
  22. Thanks for the update Trinity! I called them today and planning to get this done on Monday, Meanwhile I'll look for a place closer to me, but when you said that they have all the right equipment for right job I thought of having this place as the main resource I'll update you once it has been done and let's see what's the difference between a 2001 Lancer and 2008 Lancer.
  23. Awesome ! My vacation ends on 5th Jan So before that I've time for fixing this. Thanks bro!
  24. Thanks for your quick reply on day #1 on 2015 Good to hear that your car just for everything done this time. The alignment place guy said that only the lower arm bushes should be replaced, but said that they are not messed up but have symptoms of needing a replacement. He didn't mention about the rack ends. Anyways I'm getting the car inspected by some other fellow before starting replacing them. You may have remember I asked about the timing belt change little while a ago and got it replaced by Agents as you guys suggested. They said that it should be replaced at 90 k mark (Optimal Time to do it). I read your post on Clutch too. My clutch is bit stiff and hard to press when comparing to few small cars (Hyundai EON an a March) I have drive.Never got a chance to drive another in the same kind Currently I'm away from Colombo (@Matale) and I think I need to get there to do the replacement, is it a good idea ? I've seen which scares me of coming back to Colombo but here I'm not sure of parts either mechanics. If you don't mind, could you PM me the place that you got the work done, I'm still not found a proper place to get my car done. Thanks again and enjoy the new year mate !
  25. hi Trinity! Today I went for a wheel alignment and the mechanic showed me that the lower arm bushes have been worn out. So they need a replacement. Then I did a search on AL and found this thread opened by you. I got to know many things about the upcoming repair and probably next week I'll be replacing the bushes after checking other possible issues as well. What could be the other parts that may have affected at this point ? Mine have 88k on the clock. I'll update once the repair is being done !
