Hi all, In a flat road or highway for my car which is a 1.5 engine, rpm is between 1800- 2000 when going at 70kmph. When I go 100kmph it is at 2700-2900. Is it normal? My car is Carina AT 192 , 5A-FE engine and A245E gear box. Thanks..

Dear Experts with my all the respect, I am really messed with this IAC valve thing. My car has rotery solenoid valve as IAC. RSC coil for closing side and RSO for opening side. ECU provides a PWM to one and inverted to the other. (i.e. If RSO gets PWM with 75% duty cycle, RSC gets its inverted PWM which is 25%. This makes a resultant force to IAC open 50%.) My data sheet gives the RSC and RSO values attached herewith. Please see picture 1.You can see resultant of IAC is at idling with no AC, is "closed". But when I check it in my car, the resultant of IAC at idling with no AC is, "opened". Please see picture 2 & 3. Picture 2 is RSO. Picture 3 is RSC. ( eventhough it should give inverted to each other please disregard it since it's an issue with oscilloscope.i.e. time shift does not shown by oscilloscope.) 1) I checked for vacuume leaks and none found. 2) I also checked these RSC, RSO values at different throttle adjusting screw setting. No change. 3) Checked IAC with values in datasheet and it was OKAY. 4) Also I checked idling speed which is at around 750 rpm. 5) Also I checked rpm when AC switched on which is increased from 750 to around 900. Pic 1 - first two graphs are RSO and RSC without AC. Pic 2 - RSC without AC Pic 3 - RSO without AC What is the issue in my car? Why can't I get the setup in the datasheet?

Nop.. It was early morning in cold state. I mean not running. After I post this, I had a run around 40 mins and checked engine off after that on parking. Same level ( 1 cm above upper HOT line) no change.

Hi guys, I recently did an auto transmission fluid change. When I checked the level early in the morning the fluid level shows around 1 cm above HOT upper cut level. I mean there are HOT upper and lower cut within which the lvel should be when hot and COLD upper and lower within which fluid lvel when cold. 1) Is there excess amount of oil? 2) Do I need to drain ? 3) My auto is working well but it gets a lil bit delay to chang into gears ( I dunno weather it is a normal thing because I am always expecting no time interval between any two gear ). Might this because of this excess fluid?

Does it hv a local outlet?

Hi All, I was totally dissapointed to hear almost all the so called "AC repairers" do not know that there is a cabin filter in toyota cars like corolla, carina and corona in 90s. My car is 96 one which is not having a filter in the compartment and i am searching this filter. Still I was unable to find in panchikawatta and several other places. In internet this item is available. Anyone who knows local place to get it? At least to order ? Toyota PN : 88508-20020 ( upper filter) 88508-20030( lower filter) Sakura eqvlnt: CA11070

As per my car manual idle should be within 650 to 750. No issue in TPS, MAP and ECU. Have to check for vaccum leaks... any idea on how to check ? Since O2 sensor adjusts when there is a vaccum leak it is very difficult to find it from rpm.

Hi Guys, My idle rpm at position N or P is around 725. When I apply D position when vehicle is in stationary, rpm drops to 500 ( I do not feel considerable vibration).. Is it normal? Or should it be increased? All above are AC/Head lights etc in off condition.

Hi all, I changed my transmission oil around 8 months ago. Since there was some oil left i kept it at home. Last week due to oil cooler hose leakage i refilled few mils from that oil can. When I poured from that oil can I saw there was some small residue (milk like) also in the oil. After a week today when I again tried to use some transmission oil from that can I saw it was very diluted like and water kind of a liquid was there. I am 99.999% sure thay no one had poured water to my oil can. Does anyone has any idea on it? I am going to drain oil tomorrow since if water had gone already to my transmission box, when I poured thag few mil I wonder what had happened ... system is working fine anyhow...

Hi All, I have a carina at192 and my engine gets heated very quickly and even for a very small distance the engine parts are heated so much. I also get a catalytic converter overheat alarm. What I should do to resolve this? Do I need to replace cat ? Or can the existing cat be cleaned? This cat is 22 years old.

Hi Guys, I too am searching for rear engine mount for Carina AT 192. Looked in W*m*l M***rs they said japan one 12k and Malaysian one 4.9k. Any idea on a japan recon or new for a better price?

Guys, I know that it is wired.. comments from anyone who used it?

Hi All, I found a sachet packet called Nano Energizer. People those who used this says this improves vehicle performance. This has a ceramic compound with platinum, which fills uneven surface of piston. Any experience on usage of this?

Hi all, My neutral indicator in dash board suddenly did not light when applied to neutral. I thought of a blown bulb. But today it suddenly light and now working. Any idea on what really has happened? Car is carina

Yes..untill I check for engine and do the needful..started to go for 15w-40... engine is fine other than this lil white smoke at the vehicle start of the day, sudden pick-up is very lil bit weak and engine raising noise is very lil bit discrete..

Hi my friends, I experienced improper gear shifting of my car which is Toyota Carina AT 192 automatic, specially when I slow down gears are not shifted to a lower gear. I checked several things and one thing I was able to find was the improper TPS position. Exisitng position gave ECU that the car is in "idle" mode eventhough i depressed pedal halfway through.. Then I set the set up as per the car manual so that TPS "IDL" gives the correct signal to ECU. Then I experienced that the improper gear problem was not any more. However now my idle rpm is lil bit high. Its around 1200 at Parking with no AC. With AC its around 900. This is too much as per my manual. Also checked NE, IGT signals and also IACV control o/ps at ECU and attached herewith. These values are bit different from what should be as per manual. I think the reason for this difference is high idle rpm. Appreciate any experte would advice me on how to reduce idle rpm now.. P.S. - book exrraction pictures are what should be.. Oscilliscope pics are exisiting parameters.. Picture 1 - IGT signal Picture 2 - NE signal Picture 3 - RSO signal at AC off Picture 4 - RSO signal at AC on Picture 5 - Datasheet NE and IGT signals Picture 6 - Datasheet RSO signals

How to adjust throttle position sensor and minimum air flow at idling
Ted replied to Ted's topic in General Automotive
My problem was how to set the adjustment screw to the factory or correcr position. I found in an article that this screw is there to keep a lil air through otherwise the throttle plate will be sticked due to air pressure. And also minor adjustments of it will not change idle rpm since ECM will nullify it by learning. I too expereinced this stick since recently I adjusted this screw such that throttle flap is more closed. Now I am going to do first is set this screw up not to stick the throttle plate. Then adjust the TPS. Any comments? -
When I break to slow down and agin pedle to speed in traffic.. i need to raise pedal to 2000 rpm most of the times then only a lower gear will be applied. Also in hill roads I feel like I need to raise pedal too much. Other than that car is no problem. I wonder whether it is out of conpression or sensor issue or auto issue..

Dear All, Recently I followed a test in my car manual on transmission test. Test is in figure 1 and this test is done ignition on. I did this and smooth increase in voltage betweeb TT and E1 happens. But the problem is maximum voltage is 4.7V. This graph shows 8v. Is this a malfunction on my TPS? I checked TPS it gives vlaues within the range mentioned in manual but in the lower margin. However within the range. Could you please advise me on this? Does this imply my TPS is in poor performance? Do i need to replace it? Or ADJUST it? thank you all..

Hi all, I noticed white smoke in cold start of my car. During this white smoke out water too coming out from exhaust pipe. Also I experience the exhaust is sulpher like odour. I also feel like I need to accelerate more than that of a normal car to go for higher speeds. Oil also reduced for around every 3000kms. Could you please advice me, 1) Is piston ring check enough for diagnosis? 2) exact reason that you think. Your comment is highly appreciated.
