I checked the belt (PS and AC shared belt?) visually and I couldn't see anything wrong. Tension seems to be ok as well. Planning to take it to the mechanic tomorrow.
-
Thank you for the information and guidance. Rumesh88 pointed out a mechanic who knows how to work with these sort of issues.
-
Let me try to explain the issue from my non-mechanical viewpoint. Few weeks back I could hear noise from front tires when going over uneven ground and brought this to attention of the usual mechanic who does maintenance. After checking the car he stated, rack ends are shot and that has affected the steering rack (electronic?). Ideally a replacement was needed and he checked few places 2nd hand and original from the agents. Since the steering rack it self was fine and only the end point was damaged, he recommended getting it fixed using Lathe shop. Some more bushes and links were replaced as well. I must say that I didn't pay much attention to the details of the problem, rather wanted it to go away due to some other priorities at that time. However I feel that power steering is not smooth as it used to be any more. Sometimes there is a sudden kick in the steering when taking a slow turn. This is not felt when driving around 40-60 Km/H. Hence my question about EPS mechanic...

Anybody knows a place where one can get EPS issue fixed for Lancer Ex around Colombo? Not planning to consider agents for the time being.
-
And there are few Lancer EX GTs as well. I saw two for sale at Uni Mo about a year back. Apparently used by senior management.
-
There are few Galant Fortis around in the market too. I missed the chance to buy the KK-xxxx Galant Fortis in 2012. I have seen it back in market with an increased price recently If its a choice between Lancer Ex and Fortis, I recommend going for the Fortis.
-
Once in a while I get a call from either the Uni mo employees or random people who have found my number from the car service station asking whether am selling the Lancer Ex. I really hope the interest stays at this level for some more time.
-
Then there are people who says it is harder to sell Lancers. I am hoping the demand will stay the same when I decide to sell my Lancer Ex and CS3.

Agent service is absolutely atrocious. The prissy attitude on the part of technicians and the expectation to just shell out 40K without any thought drove me to go for an after market ABS sensor. Got it from UK for Rs.7500/= and 700Kms later, no alerts yet..Keeping fingers crossed.
-
So how did you resolve the sensor issue? Through agent or via a 2nd hand sensor?

Thank you Hows the road condition of Ridigama - Palapathwela road? How about the road works during the weekday day time between Kuru - Dambulla?
-
Getting to Kurunegala makese sense using the above route. What's the status of the stretch between Kurunegala and Dambulla?
-
I've heard that there is extensive road work going on Kurunegala - Dambulla road and its closed for traffic from time to time. Can somebody who travelled recently through that area comment on the following; 1. Condition of the Kuru - Dambulla stretch 2. Alternate routes to Dambulla Travelling with a toddler and stuck in a long queue would be a nightmare.. Thanks

dieahrd replied to Bracket's question in Car Buying Information
FWIW , when you open the fuel lid, there is big red notice saying "95 Octane or above only" (or something to that effect). Never driven the car with 90 yet.- 800 replies

Lancer Or Axio? Update: Bought A Lancer! (Aka The B.r.a.t.t. Thread)
dieahrd replied to Bracket's question in Car Buying Information
In 5 years, you may make lot more money than now and whatever the amount you may lose in resale value should be neglible. Afterall you are moving from a 1.6 Mil budget to 3.5 - 4 Mil budget right now.. My take is that you should buy the Lancer, if that fits your other requirments of the desired vehicle (handling, fuel etc). When I was buying the Lancer Ex sometime back, there were number of cars that owners who couldnt sell for months. Some of them were "Used and abused by doctors/judges/professionals" or the owner expected more money than what it would cost to buy a brand new car.. Well maintained car will be sold within a reasonable amount of time..- 800 replies

http://www.u h wheel.lk/contact-us.htm got the details. They had Coopers tyres in stock as well..somewhere around 17k. I went through reviews on http://www.tirerack.com/ and Kumho seems to be highly rated. Kumho also is in 17k range (D*MO agent)

19,000 ... D*MO was getting the new model and they had few Primacy LCs in Kandy. Talked to the Sales manager he got them down and sent it to a place near Nugegoda. Must say that they got a very impressed customer after that.

I recently went through the exercise of replacing tyres for my Lancer Ex. Am not sure whether the following info would help. I think there are better options than the Roadstone in that price range. Following are some quotes that I got; Alfred E 205-60R16/ZE912 – Rs.15,700.00 (falken Thailand) SK Munasinghe Tyre 205/60 R 16 VE302 R/TL DUNLOP JAPAN Rs.19,800.00 Tyre 205/60 R 16 SPLM703 R/TL DUNLOP THAILAND Rs.17,600.00 U & H Maxxis Taiwan 18,450.00 Dunlop Japan 18,740.00 Kinforest China 13,080.00 Mastercraft USA 21,200.00 Finally went ahead with Michelins since I got a good deal on Primacy LC.

Suggestiöns For Buying A Kyron 2009/2010
dieahrd replied to HarshaNiwanka's topic in General Automotive
Couple of GTs were on sale at Uni*** M***s, which were used by their management few weeks back. -
Guys, need some advice. I want to replace 205/60 R16 Yokohama Advan tyres (35,000 kms). Agent quoted a price of 34k and dealer price of 31k. 1. Are these prices reasonable? 2. What are the other options I have? 3. Spare tyre is a full sized of the same above. Never used but at least 5 years old. Does it make sense to use it for the next tyre rotation?

I drive in heavy city traffic on a daily basis and lucky to get 8-9 kmpl. The previous owner and advertisers are talking abt 10-15kmpl in city. Galant Fortis is a lovely car and I missed a perfect deal because of my delay.

I use a 2008 Lancer Ex GLS. So far no issue, but the owner before me had used the car very carefully. I searched to buy a Lancer Ex for few months last year. There werent many around and people quoted crazy prices ranging from 4.5 - 5 million for a 2008 car. At the same time there were couple of cars that were available for 3.5million with poor maintenance. Both over priced and under priced cars didnt sell for a long time. Some were advertised on Autolanka it self. The guy who asked for 5 million couldnt sell the car for more than 6 months and still probably trying to sell it. I have owned couple of Mitsubishis and so far I had not much challenge in selling them (including 92 manual 2 door colt). Then again I dont look at the car as an investment.
