  2. Lol, but now times have changed. For I have been reincarnated...as AVANTE!
  3. That's a seriously interesting piece! Me gusta
  4. Strangely none so far. What about you DevZ? Ever came across such careless buggers?
  5. *sigh*..time to do something about the username.
  6. Your profile pic is irritating.. Nah, jk.
  7. So the typical lankan buyer now has 2 versions of RIP? (Rest In Prius/Rest In Premio) Imagine a cult being formed by our lankan fanboys to maintain all the discontinued 260s & prius's. It will be fun and all. With meet ups, buffets, road trips, what not. And then comes the ritual, where they perform a sacrifice once a year to Akio Toyoda, by seating a random hardline toyo-extremist in their 'baig intariyal' car, burying the whole package alive, and then a month later, excavating the burial & and scavenging the parts. Oh what fun!
  8. I've read a handful of posts about garages carrying out repairs incorrectly, doing extra damages and basically helping the owner empty out the wallet more. From a simple service to a paintjob, if they break it, you pay for it. Aren't there any laws or legal way of fighting such buggers? Some garages will pay up/compensate but some will outright ignore. Of course, condemning them on social media won't pay you back. So how do you tackle such a situation?
  9. Don't forget the upcoming GMC Hummer with 11,500Nm & claimed 0-100 in 3 seconds
  10. If you have deep pockets, by all means, do go for it. You will have to keep up with maintenance & fuel costs. The E60 generation isn't the most common beemer around, smart & striking car though. If first car means, first time driving your own car, hope you aren't afraid to scratch/ding it.
  11. I thought they worked under any light source? Train wreck meaning expensive or hard to find a specialist? What do you use now besides the citz?
  12. Would like to own a Citizen EcoDrive someday. Had a simple yet classy citizen with a black belt & dial that was stolen 2 years ago. Now I have a Seiko 5 automatic radium watch that my dad used for about 15 years. I have kept it away safe & sound as it doesn't look good on me plus I'm not the greatest fan of radium.
  13. Sweet ride but I wonder if it will be a success here
  14. Was driving through Kurunegala today with the fam and noticed a classy blue MG ZS EV (look at that name lol) for the dank price of 6.9 million. Nissan Leaf & i3 territory..what do you guys think? Truly is a beautiful SUV from the front & inside.

Imagine being able to convert a classic car into a clean, fast accelerating machine with the same tough & old feeling and the same non-power steering setup, coupled with a clutchless manual tranny. You'd only miss the sound and feel, but in return you get a lesser headache-inducing, clean & reliable transportation which oozes of pure nostalgia.

Better yet, get the torque vs rpm curves from old engines and use them a presets for the motor controller. Depending on the level of nostalgia you are on, load up the motor preset and enjoy the ride.

If sound is lacking, you can add the speakers like the one on the i8 and you are pretty much set!

  15. The FD4 with some subtle mods can be Sekz.. As far as I know..the purest sekz for slightly more than 3 mil is a facelifted BMW E46..it looks like a girl with those eyes.
  16. Suffered a gasket failure even thought vehicle's temperature didn't go pass the mid point...reason? A faulty radiator cap which I didn't know was faulty ?

A friendly reminder to my fellow motorists: Check your cap, or you engine head could possibly fap.

  17. No requirements mentioned but try checking these out as per your liking: Honda Fit non-hybrid (GD1/GE6) & hybrid (GP1) Suzuki Swift Toyota Corolla AE110 Nissan Sunny FB15 Suzuki WagonR/Every Wagon Mazda Demio
  18. Best ones have been mentioned already, here are a few more suggestions: GX110 Toyota Mark II with the 2L Yamaha Beams Inline 6? if you don't mind a 15 year old car. Toyota/Lexus harrier with the 3L V6. VW Jetta has a nice interior and is also comfy I heard. Not as easy to maintain as a Toyota though. You could get a Toyota Crown Hybrid which is powerful, smooth & unique too but that's slightly above your budget.
  19. Atleast Sri lanka isn't that bad..phew
  20. The turbo will last a long time as long as you maintain it well. The only thing that comes to mind is: After very heavy usage (lots of high revs & non-stop driving for hours), let the engine idle for at least 5 mins before shutting it off as this will allow the oil to cool down a bit, else it will fry the internals of the turbo and this will reduce the life of the turbo components in the long run. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not sure these econo car turbos require such precaution. If waiting for the turbo to cool is hard, install a turbo timer, that way you can switch off & lock the car and mind your business while the timer will switch cut off the engine according to the preset time. Maintain the engine properly & service on time, and it will be very reliable As for ground clearance, hope you live in a good place & after a while you will get used to it. Just be very careful during the initial stages of ownership.
  21. This is good news! Why not document it in the blogs? Dont keep all the fun to yourself now. I guess you had a hard time trying to sell it too. As for the VR6 conversion parts, you must have tried Taiyo enterprises in Mt.Lavinia for VW/Euro parts right? They could import it for you as I'd bet no one stocks VR6 parts here in SL. I saw an advert & a recommendation for the place in the forums a while back. Just dont forget the front calipers like the one on Jesse's VW Bora/Jetta?.
  22. Post on ######## or a similar FB car buy & sell group. Also post a wanted ad on 1kman
  23. Well according to professor Jeremy Clarkson, bigger the vehicle, smaller the weener. Hummer drivers, where you at??
  24. Funny coincidence, while using the forum, a buddy of mine was looking over my shoulder and asked "hey, aren't there any girls in the AL Forums?" Wonder if anyone here has the rank of 'biggest sausage' and drives a car that reflects that
