Thanks again to you both for the replies. Its a HP 1000. At another place they quoted 3,650/-. My requirement was for the cheapest HP printer for home use. The black ink was price marked at 2225/- [at most places - same amount] but they gave it for 1650/-. Its the HP '61' cartridge.

Hi All, In today's H/ads -- there were several ads for CISS. What I want to know is -- what is the benefit of a "continuous ink supply system" aka 'CISS'?? Called 2 places advertised, and I gathered thus:- That it'll cost a minimum of 4000/-, that it'll last 1 1/2 years. Cost to print in black is 30 cents & colour Rs 2/-. What I want to know is -- the pros & cons of CISS? --[from personally experience only pls] Are the numbers given correct or an exaggeration? Can the initial cost [for eg. Rs 4k] be recovered OR will it be a better option to go for other alternatives advertised-- like refilling cartridges - which is about Rs. 2/- per print? thanks in advance

This is cheating of a different kind - but relevant to the topic. This is re 'credit card' usage & cheating. Sometime back I used to pump only full tank and followed all the advice given - re pumping of fuel. I used to pay by credit card, and the monthly bill indicated 2 purchases of fuel within a few seconds -- ie - less than a minute. {However those days - i didn't have the mobile alert.When I informed the bank, they initially refused to reimburse the 02nd payment -but after lot of calls/emails managed to rectify it.} The only conclusion I came to was that they had SWIPED THE CARD TWICE. The 02nd signature was false - as shown by the bank. So be careful when using your credit card @ a petrol shed or making any other purchases. However if you have mobile alert activated -- there is nothing to worry

100 km maximum speed limit on Southern Expressway August 20, 2011, 7:27 pm The maximum speed limit on the Southern Expressway has been stipulated at one hundred (100) kilometers per hour, according to a Gazette notification issued by the Minister of Transport. Motor tricycles, motor tricycle vans, agricultural land vehicles, hand tractors, invalid carriages and steam driven motor vehicles are debarred from using the expressway. "No person shall drive or use any special purpose vehicle without special permission other than, where it is necessary, to carry out any activity related to the maintenance of the Expressway", the notification says. Motor cycles are also disallowed except for patrolling the road by the police divisions established by the IGP, it said. The notification further says: *No person holding a Learners Permit shall drive or use any motor vehicle fitted with a "L" plate. In the event of an accident or a breakdown at any point on an Expressway, the driver shall be required to display the reflective warning triangle and hazard warning lamp of the vehicle, in order to give adequate notice to the other users. * No driver shall enter or use any Expressway if the vehicle being used exceeds the maximum tare limits of the vehicle, or the gross vehicle weight as specified in the Certificate of Registration. * No person who having entered an Expressway shall park or keep standing the vehicle which such person is driving, other than on a marked parking site. Any person who contravenes the provisions of these regulations shall be guilty of an offence, the notification warned. The Southern Expressway, which links Kottawa to Galle, is scheduled to be opened this month, but no date has still not been finalised, officials said. Correct - the other party should be made an accused too. [not in the same case -- a different case will be filed against him - under 'failure to prevent an accident'] However it depends solely on the discretion of the Traffic OIC.

There will be 2 charges filed against you -- minimum fine would be Rs 3000/- [1500 * 2]. However fines vary according to each court house - as the incumbent Magistrate has a set method of fining. So the 5000/- quoted by you must be correct. [i'm assuming the cops informed you of same - they'll be aware of each fine] As some one has advised you - better take some one else -- as some Magistrates put you in the cell till the fine is paid. [most dont --as this is not a criminal offence] If that happens you need your friend to pay the fine --if not you'll be stuck there till the prison officers take their own time to take you to the office to pay the fine --unless they are adequately compensated. I think I dont need to tell you this, but this is for the benefit of others --> always dress well and in sober colours. If not you'll end up with a lecture in front of others. All the best!!

VVTi- the below mentioned are 'prevalent fines'. I'll update this as I find more details. Regarding related cost - I assume lawyers fees etc? Well- it depends on each lawyer. Since some are more efficient than others, [as in any profession] they might charge more. To know who is efficient & who are not - I've put some details as how to retain a good lawyer. How to retain lawyers? ---[if you going to contest your case only - as the hassle wont be worth it if you are going to plead guilty on the first date itself] Some like to retain experienced lawyers. I would advocate this IF they are well versed in the Law.[up-to-date with the new laws/amendments etc] However you wouldn't know that by looking at a lawyers face - so best bet would be go and sit in Court the previous day or days and observe who makes the best submissions/applications. [iMO -- I've have found out that up & coming lawyer would be the best bet.] Well here goes with the basic punishments for accidents:- 'Recklessly or in a dangerous manner or at a dangerous speed' --> a fine not less than one thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty fifty thousand rupees, [ and on a second conviction to a fine not less than two thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees and the suspension of his driving licence, and on a third or subsequent conviction, to a fine not less than three thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees and the cancellation of his driving licence or to rigorous imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months to both such fine and imprisonment.] Negligently or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway a fine not less than one thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees, and on a second conviction to a fine not less than two thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees and on a third or subsequent conviction to a fine not less than three thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees and the suspension of his driving licence for a period of six months.
