  1. Found a super clean 80's Toyota Wagon. I feel like going the Shakotan way, small rims, fender flares, lowered springs, external oil cooler. Thoughts?

How much would a rear drive 4AGE go for these days? Like with wiring loom, ECU and all?

Agree with Hoonigan.. It's fun and it's addictive too :)

Tough to find early 4AGEs nowadays but not impossible.. Even the silver and blacktops from the FWD applications can be hooked upto RWD.

last I checked a guy quoted 175 k for engine, harness and ecu

  2. That would probably be the CAR plated P90D running around the streets. Well quickest at any rate.
  3. If it is the switch, the light will stay on even if you switch off the car. I had this issue in my Vios where the little rubber grommet thing had fallen and the microswitch plunger was going through the hole previously occupied by the grommet. As for systems checking how much electricity goes through etc, that's only an issue on cars with CANBUS systems, which only started appearing in the early 2000s I believe. Edit: My bad, I was reading this on my mobile and the attachment did not load. I was under the assumption the brake lamp referred to the actual bulb and not the dashboardindicator. Just checked with my dad on this, as we had a 1992 Accord when living in camel land; there is in fact a resistance based circuit which checked for burnt lamps. It works by keeping the circuit energized by pumping a tiny amount of current through the circuit through both the tail light and brake light circuit. It's a high resistance circuit, so rust and almost any other kind of impedance can make the dashboard indicator light up.
  4. The most economical car is one that doesn't move under its own power.
  5. I bought a seat cover for the rear seat, everything else has been smothered with Scotchgard. Scotchgard works a lot better than most people think it does.

  7. So heres a strange one; which cars here in SL have exceptionally high ground clearance and/or a short wheel base?

No I need a short car. There will be no space for a Presea in the garage with the Axio in there as well. I didn't think the Axio would be significantly longer than the Vios.

  8. Saw one of the turbo Mustangs at that place on Duplication Road.

That's the ecoboost engine right? I remember seeing a full fat 5.0 that was brought down recently

Only passion or showoff should be the only reason for buying such a machine. Otherwise no real use of it here.

Yup. If I had that money, I'd buy a hybrid Mercedes and call it a day.

  9. This is from the regular Axio. There's no storage area under the seats in the Hybrid since the battery is there.
  10. You will have to order a G grade and delete fog lights as they're standard. The silver (not chrome) grille is an option. Beige seats, piano black trim, steering wheel controls for the radio, push button start, padded door and center arm rests, rear air vents under the front seats are standard as well. Everything else is optional, including spare wheel. There has never been an Axio Hybrid X grade; It's Axio Hybrid or Axio Hybrid G.
  11. It's actually because of German ingenuity that they were able to do this for many years no? When the firmware detects the steering wheel is straight and the rear wheels aren't turning, the firmware switches to EPA mode.
  12. Transaxles are there for better weight distribution yes, and I can personally attest to this witht he 340GLE because they were used by the govt. in the early 90s and a relative had one. Cornered like nothing I had been in up to that point. However, the only time the wheels would spin faster than the prop shaft would be in overdrive.
  13. First hit and run ever, the jerk left a mark on my bumper, plus a few it has popped out from a few clips. Can anyone recommend me a place who does good work? I mean the kind of work where you can't figure out where it's been repainted?

Sorry about that TBT. I know a few places, but they're not famous. Once did a good job on my previous fb15. The place is near Delkanda

Yeah got the police report. Then took it to this place I have seen at Jubilee Post. 10 minutes and 500 bucks later, it was fixed; apparently it was just a lot of paint and filler transfer.

Now I need to replace a broken buffer clip, anyone know where to get those?

  14. Yes I use it for office work quite a bit, calls, calendar, emails, and personally viber, whatsapp, fb messenger. Plus it's connected with my Pebble Time smartwatch as well. The Note series have bigger batteries so they should be capable of providing more juice. I have never had my battery die on me, but I've ended up with around 30% by around 5pm. At times like that, I hook it up to my Xiaomi 5000mah powerbank which give it 15% juice within 20 minutes or so (the powerbank is capable of charging the phone almost as quickly as the Samsung fast charger).
  15. Lancers are also comparatively more comfy and better composed on the road on account of their rear independent suspension. If you enjoy taking corners, you should look at them.
  16. According to the Panda Owners Group on FB, they run on bullshit.
  17. Don't go for an S6. Get an S7 because they have better battery life. My S6 on occasion does not make through my work day, usually when I'm out of the office and on data all day instead of Wifi.
  18. That's because the previous fellows made it possible for all toms, dicks and harries plus their ageing dogs to buy Marutis by the bucket load. That put a massive strain in our already fragile road infrastructure. These fellows had no choice but to put a plug in that.
  19. Yup. But in hindsight, the parentship did offer to put up the difference. It was the cost of ownership and relatively scarcity that put me off. At least there are people who are familiar with the Toyota HSD and Toyota Lanka will accept JDM hybrids with open arms, even going as far as to fix recall issues for them (i.e. firmware updates).
  20. You guys... talking about unaffordable German hybrids when I couldn't even afford the Japanese hybrid I wanted :/ #1stworldproblems
  21. Glad you got it sorted.
  22. Bullshit. My aunt has an EP91 that just ticked over 200,000 a few months ago, nothing wrong with the engine.
  23. Sorry yes, G10 #mybad
  24. I'm no where near your point. I just nullified your point, yet you drivel on. There are no major differences amongst the various Toyota HSDs, the principal mechanics are the same some varying nuances for each iteration, therefore that point is moot as well. People just want a newer car that's all.
  25. To begin with, your assumptions are ridiculous; it's highly unlikely anyone who only has access to a makabass will ever buy a hybrid in the first place. Secondly, who ever buys one will obviously have done their homework, as people do now when buying old Euros. Also, if you think Hybrid owners are limited to just Colombo, you clearly haven't ventured outside the city limits in the past 3 years or so.
