  1. Well the driver's door in our old van was adjusted by our body/paint guy, not the mechanic. You should be alright asking your mechanic for advise, they usually know the best places for getting everything else they don't handle done.
  2. The sound changes as the beading gets older, and a proper seal is not maintained. When there's a good seal, the compression of the air inside the car's cabin softens the thud when closing the door and usually there's a soft "chock" sound. You can try this for yourself by leaving just one door slightly ajar (not so much that the intermediate catch is engaged i.e. dora bageta wahila, and make sure all the windows are up), and then opening and closing one of the other doors with moderate force. You will notice the other door budge an inch or so as the extra air is expelled. Check the alignment of the rear door, and also the latching mechanism if any adjustment/lubrication needs to be done.
  3. You're on to something there though, apparently there are quite a few 1UZ converted Hiaces in Aussie and NZ. Must be the warm winters and cold summers that drives them to these levels of insanity.
  4. Holy old-RAV4--with-mitsubishi-engine, Batman!!
  5. @miniace it is mentioned its a smallblock v8 with a motec efi system, so maybe a GM crate engine with a big turbo attached to it (considering the spool up time)?
  6. My aunt got herself a 1300cc version recently, definitely the model I recommend.
  7. and now, down under...
  8. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate turn of events. I would've stirred up a crap storm at my insurance company had I been given the run around you received. The fact that you had to pay by hand defeats the whole concept of full liability insurance, unless insurance companies in SL have implemented deductibles/copays without our knowledge. You should've cancelled your policy then and there and switched to another provider.
  9. In your world, are there unicorns that eat rainbows and poop butterflies?
  10. No cookie for you!
  11. What we really need on the E01 are restrooms every 10kms. I almost took a dump in my pants a few days ago,was saved by a recently opened franchisee of a popular restaurant chain at the Colombo end of the highway.
  12. I had shifted to 2 instead of D after backing up out of the parking lot, and shifted to D at around 60ish when I noticed the shift into 3rd didn't happen. All that happened was that the car found the next gear, no drama. However shifting into neutral is risky, not only due to what is stated above, but due to a pothole or carelessness, you might shift into reverse instead, and that's when the proverbial excrement will hit the fan. This had happened to a newish Nissan Caravan, my mechanic told me.
  13. When I was 21, Pluto was still a planet.
  14. What about the maroon Lexus Allion parked around Kohuwala?
  15. Why on earth are you replying to a post that is over 5 years old???
  16. Getting this sorted out on our townace was a nightmare. I hope you have better luck.
  17. Nice conversion for older cars. There are bulbs available for newer vehicles on ebay; my van was completely converted to LEDs, with the exception of the headlamps. @reckless look for 555 based timer circuits. They will run straight from the vehicles 12v, but its always better to use a low amp fuse.
  18. Yes, the center trim of the dashboard in my car needs to be removed before I can access the radio mounting bracket.
  19. I too am looking for a turntable, it would be better if the discussion had it's own thread no?
  20. what is with the idiots bumping old threads??

  21. Maybe an issue with the shift fork. A friend had the same issue in his double cab. It's pretty straightforward to sort out.
  22. Yeah, there's a strong following for r/c aircraft here in SL now that the restrictions have been mostly lifted. Plus the fact that you can buy a CF and aluminium 450 size heli kit (minus electronics of course) for 5k makes things extremely appealing. Even importing a 2.4ghz radio system isn't a huge hassle anymore as long as you can prove to the TRCSL its total power output is <=100mw and have documentation to support it.
  23. @schiffer there are 2004 models of the Liana/Aerio, and you will not be able to find them at <= 2million. They may look like crap but are immensely comfy. @jayz sometimes there are soloists who require boot space i bought a car with a enough space to carry two fixed wing model aircraft at once, one in the boot and one in the rear passenger area.
  24. Here's something for us R/C fans. The real wow factor here is not the speed, but the fact that all of this insanity comes ready built in a box, even the batteries.
  25. A clay bar will work on the body, and you might try using a window cleaning agent on the windows. But why not go to an auto detailer and see what they can do?
