This has to be the single most stupidest thread I've seen on AL. First of all if people here think its cool to own a hybrid because you are making an environmental statement you couldn't have been anymore wrong. when Cameron Diaz was getting out of her 1st gen Prius, now that was cool. over 10 years down the line when people are singing songs of praise about hybrids, when some of us here experienced this sort of car either here or abroad before most people here couldn't even spell hybrid, and when millions of people around the world have already used hybrids for over a decade and established their virtues, it really isn't cool. secondly there's no denying why you buy it. because of the tax concession you can get a car thats slightly bigger and slightly more economical than a corolla for less. its certainly not because of the environment. if it is, then like someone here said earlier all of you should have been driving around in a 1st gen prius in the late 90s. So if all of you just stop this nonsense and admit you bought it, because its a sensible choice here at the moment for people who want just some car to get from A to B, without pretending to be some techno geeks, someone might actually sleep with you. trust me you are not fooling anyone. and if someone from the western world sees this they'd probably die laughing because this is no worse than opening a thread to discuss the virtues of mobile phones.

didn't you already mention in another thread you can get a vat exempt and insisted you must go for a Navara? either this is some bad trolling or a serious case of putting the cart before the horse

get a complete recon axle from a place that accepts returns. replacing the hubs would take about coupla hours and I'd be surprised if costs you more than half what a brand new hubs worth.

maybe it was a fake after all and the owner suddenly grew up and removed the stickers and painted the wheels silver.

bearing replacements for modern front wheel drive cars are jolly expensive. cos its a part of the whole hub. so you'll have to replace the entire unit. compare prices with the agents then at a good shop in panchikawatte and finally if you are happy with it at a used spares shop. they can sell you an entire axle for 10-20k. to give you an idea of what the prices are like brand new hubs for my ncp13 vitz is 46k a piece and a recon axle is just 12.5k

Sounds like a Bearing issue. if its a bit like tyre noise and if its only coming from the back (provided you got the same tyres at all four corners) the bearings could be worn out. but then that doesn't explain the vibration. so it could be another problem; damaged tyres.

Yep the 4.0l prado is pretty bad on fuel. I've heard of people getting 3-3.5 on city and outstation. But the biggest gas guzzler I've come across is the H2. A friend of mine told me he averaged only 2km/l on his way to Nuwara Eliya

yep. these cvt boxes do have a "creep" function. but the best thing about this gearbox is kick down in the s mode. the way it lurches forward is pretty unnerving for a vehicle with so little power and so much weight to lug around. I'm happy you are going for fielder cos personally I think that has way more character than the saloon. but as interesting as it looks from the outside the interior is unbelievably bland.

If you are buying a Navara but avoiding the aventura version with leather and electric everything you might as well not buy a Navara at all. See I was considering buying an L200 recently. since you mentioned 4wd performance this might prove valuable to you. the L200 has centre diff locks which you don't get in any other jap pickup. also because its sold brand new by the agents here finding parts and servicing should be easier. plus people here are more familiar with the 4d56 engine and if I'm right the engine you get in the brand new montero sport is identical anyway I was talking to a truck importer from uk and he said the navara aventura is more car like in comparison. because it has dual zone climate control and electric front seats. what you are about to do is buy the most loaded pickup in the market without most of its unique options. for that reason alone I think you should try out variants of both models that are within your budget before you buy one. also just yesterday I was told by another importer the navara has a rather bumpy ride and the rear seat space isn't all that good. so do try out both.

it sure does. that's why its best to use original parts in any conversion. but in this case the io never came with a diesel. so it'll be like driving around with 2 really fat people in the front seat. bad handling and shortened suspension life.

I'm just guessing here. but the 4D68 might go in easily. the 8th gen Galant offered both the 4D68 and the 4G94. so if you are lucky there might be some similarities. like mounting points and gearbox mounting positions. speak to an expert and compare the two engine before you do anything. arosha motors in pattiya junction kandy road had a few 4D68s with them.

you might as well say the lives of people in non english numbered cars are less important and its ok for them to be ejected and impaled on objects outside
