  1. i thought you were referring to a w30. cos thats the one on my wishlist but i think i'm right in saying the 1st gen is the quickest of the bunch isnt it? you should add a smaller pulley to the blower and stick on some 80s bbs rims and you'll have a real gem in your hands
  2. please tell us some more about your mr2 mate. like the market value boot space (i'm dead serious ) etc etc. i've seen 2 in sl, the red one in panchikawatte and the silver one which enjoyed a little off road escapade
  3. amen to that!
  4. let me know mate! you can join our convoy if you like. i already got 10 tickets reserved
  5. couldn't that be a 912? the headlamps are from a 930 but i think only the 901 had so many chrome bits
  6. for gods sake! first it was ignight and now this oh well that just means we have a lot more time to get organised
  7. can someone please tell me what time the races start? i'm new to this sort of thing and i need to know where and what time i should be there to get the best action
  8. it sure is. especially for a car thats over 2 decades old and is shaped like a block on such a short stretch of road.
  9. well its a shame if he has. cos that would have been a pretty neat addition to our classic car community. i would love to get my hands on something like this but this project seems to need a tad too much commitment
  10. fair enough! but i still want to drive an A or a chrome bumpered B one day. or even own one ...secretly
  11. well its not exactly the manliest car ever is it? a B v8 could have got away alrite. but being an MG wasnt the F's only problem
  12. mate you forgot one fact! to drive an mg (f in particular) you should have either breasts or a beard (if not both)
  13. hitting the top speed isnt important. and even driving fast isn't that important. i think what matters relishing the fact that you got a really fast machine and you can quickly reach speeds over 160 and bring it back to normal speeds in a very short distance when nobody's looking. even if you dont actually do it
  14. the vios has the gearbox from the 2nz vitz then. that has lower ratios. and 8.9 for a vios is a pretty respectable time. but i doubt the clutch will buy you more than 0.5 secs. anyways i'd be pretty suprised if your car gets to 215. but for the safety of you and the others don't try to break your own records cos those things dont really end well.
  15. and make sure its not a fixed track so you remove the tires and rails every now and then and allow car clubs to organise autox and gymkhana events. and dont do it in gampaha. i live closeby and i'll probably turn out to be your best customer but most things that open along kandy road don't really seem to have much success as something that was opened up in say battaramulla. you are probably better off finding a location central to galle road highlevel road and the kotte area
  16. the 1nz engine is usually mounted to a close ratio gearbox so the car should top out at around 200. depends on how long you could bear to hold the engine over 6000 rpm. i've seen 1nz engined vitzs doing over 200 but with all that bulk and smaller wheels in a vios i guess thats pretty much the fastest it'll go.
  17. http://www.tyretest.com/ you'll find all the answers there.
  18. Regent motors in panchikawatte is quite good. my dads been buying parts from them for nearly 15 years. i went there for the first time last summer and they were very friendly and helpful
  19. let me guess... a failed crank? does bring back good memories Mod edit : pic removed on request
  20. what a wonderful name for a car it'd be very entertaining if they bring that to sl
  21. certainly! well let me correct what i said earlier. the british government hasn't done something wrong by granting them asylum and helping them start a life here. but they were very very late compared to most other nations when imposing the ltte ban (which i cant help but think was announced rather quietly). and this was years after ltte has carried out terrorist activity in an internationally recognised level. not just that. pro-ltte activity was happening in broad daylight before the ban. i mean shouldnt the government be aware that there are terrorists roaming freely in their country collecting funds and harassing civillians? from what i feel it wouldnt have been much different if the government itself funded them. and its not like its any different now. one could argue that bringing down the members of the ltte may not be the british governments highest priority right now. but isnt it an absolute shame when ltte supporters could still roam around its capital with an ltte flag in their hands without getting arrested? point taken.
  22. not just that razor. the uk doesnt want to change their views on ltte overnight cos if they do they'll be admitting that they've been wrong for the past 2 decades or so. remember how much they supported the tamil diaspora? even when they knew that they are indirectly helping hardcore ltte supporters who were among them. and i'm with gihan on this cos every thread that we seem to open up about the war always gets very political. and funnily enough we all seem to have more or less the same opinions. the sad thing is we are just sitting here cursing whoever's responsible and its useless cos it wont change anything. so we might as well shut up.
  23. that explains the blinged up GL
  24. maybe you shouldn't think so much about SLRs
