  2. maybe he drove through an american burger shack and had a regular american sized meal
  3. i'm trying to figure out whats worse being seen by a driver in riced up civic when u are naked or seeing a riced civic when you got your pants down
  4. happy birthday mate! have a good one
  5. those are the worst kind. the best way to tackle them as i figured out ages ago is to stop the car on the side or pull over to the slow lane and hold your phone against the right ear and have a pretend phone conversation. i doubt they'll bang on about overtaking a parked car and you can get out of it with you honour preserved

  7. let me add my 2 pence here. the countries you were refering to parak either had a solid efficient transportation system for decades, if not centuries. take london for example. getting from one corner to the other there's nothing more efficient than taking a tube train or 2. thats how those people were brought up. for them its the easiest and quickest method. now take sri lanka. every kid is brought upto believe that public transportation is rubbish (cos it really is) and that they should work hard at school so they can afford their own car. so i guess thats how we are. let me say just one more thing. your arguement is reasonable. but perhaps you should spend more time in the "real" sri lanka of sweaty bus rides, trains that don't arrive on time and sudden downpours. i think getting people into the bus (or the train) is not the priority here. its building up a better economy so we have more spending power (so we actually have an option between the car and the bus/train) but more importantly build up safe secure efficient clean public transport system that people would actually dont mind taking before forcing them to get out their cars to avoid congestion etc etc. ideas travel. but we'll stick to our old ways, at least until we have a decent trasport system thanks very much.
  8. i've been hearing the economic situation in sl is turning bad. but just how bankrupt is this organisation to advertise here so cheaply?
  9. tsk tsk tsk i dont like what i'm seeing! now where's an admin when you need one?
  10. privatise the train network!!! the government cant run it for sh*t
  11. now how did he manage to get in in the 1st place? probably involved the worlds biggest shoehorn
  12. the headlamp ruins it (should have had a plain circular unit). other than that its just a mean looking bike with tiny balls
  13. now why do i feel like i fall into that second kind? (ok maybe not rice. but...) moral of the story: save fuel during day to day driving for some saturday night mischief at gp
  14. omg!!! that just ruined my whole evening. in fact i wanna throw up
  15. sorry guys. im not the best person to turn to when it comes to economics. i'm just stating an observation. the pound has been steadily going down. and the euro is catching up now. not sure how exchange rates will hold on. but as u say if the rupee declines in value thats some bad news for me as well.
  16. any links?
  17. oh well, is it just me? when i see something fast, something that might incur your hooligan-isnm like anything between a starlet gt to an sti impreza, if its being driven slowly i feel this sense of admiration. its like the driver knows he's in a fast car and he knows he can get to the next set traffict lights 11 seconds before i can. but he's well behaved and he's driving the car like any other person and he knows that there's a time and place for such acts.
  18. i'm with you on that! its easy on the car and saves fuel too. and people admire you when you drive a quick car decently. but i dont blame anyone for putting the hammer down every now n then. good way to get the adrenaline pumping. but for normal day to day driving nothing like a spot of christian motoring.
  19. i know a sri lankan guy who's doing a phd with a scolarship over here. i'll ask him about it if i manage to catch up with him on time. when does you course start anyways? its better if you wait till the war ends cos the rupee will go up and you'll have to pay less and less. see if you can arrange to pay it monthly or something. as for jobs its a bad time to find a job in europe. if u can find one you are really lucky. its not like you cant work more hours illegally n get away with it. but i don't know much about that aspect. the rules could be stricter now because of the recession. not sure how it works out in italy anyways. i think this is a small price to pay for a great opportunities in the future. i wouldnt let financial aid hold me back from something like this. in fact i'd rob a bank for this. if 3rd party aid seems bleak see if there's something u can get rid of in the family to aid this my advice is you should try writing to a few companies that would possibly hire u upon completion of the course to ask them for financial aid. be careful with your drawings though. you might not wanna show them to anyone yet.
  20. been there done that! didnt turn out good
  21. you should have seen how he held his hat n blew the whistle when he realised he had the authority to stop me. however i was too dumb back then to know just one cop can't charge you like that
  22. probably the craziest thing i've ever done was getting caught for wreckless driving. this was like 3 years ago and i was heading for this lunch with my sister. I was driving through panchikawatte approaching the maradana junction. and this guy in a beaten up delica started driving parallel to me in a rather dangerous fashion. anyways me being the aggressive driver i was back then, waited till he pulled up alongside me in front of buhari and i pulled away fast. i remember doing 70-80 as i approached the maradana junction just skipping the amber light. and to add a little flambouyance i pulled the handbrake as i went around the junction. so to recap the following events in slow motion there i was going 45 degrees to the curb looking down the road through my side window. and guess what i saw a few yards down the road. yes! a cop crossing the road. it took him a while for the tyre screeching to register in his head. n then he turned around and saw this car hurtling towards him sideways with a teenager with a wide open mouth at the wheel. it really made him jump. and he started running for cover. but then he realised he's a cop and he decided to flag me down. so there i was getting fined for wreckless driving. thank god i didnt see the driver of the delica after that cos that would have been really embarassing.
