i've seen an old celica several times in the kiribathgoda area. it was riced out with spoilers and a flashy paintjob. not sure if its the same one
  2. r u the guy with the stealth black saturn?
  3. lol it sure is! sneaky!
  4. watching these incidents on the internet from a far away land it sure isnt the same as being in the country and gaining first and experience on the political situation. you hear about a victory in the north and everybody starts jumping in joy cos we arent quite aware of the political conflicts in the south. but when im there everybody's complaining about the high inflation and discrimination and even harassment of people with "wrong" political views. i.e. one thats different to whats deemed right by the heads of state. i think this is the same case with pro-ltte tamils living abroad. they are completely unaware of the fact that there own people are being held hostage, being attacked senselessly. and shot at when feel burdened. they think their heros in the front line are doing a good job. their leader is very greatful man. (not the kind of person who'd order to shoot their own injured soldiers because they cant afford to transport them to medical facilities, like he did when k'nochchi was captured). but thats not my point. watching all these events from abroad i can qoute without being baised to any political party our country is heading towards jeopardy. when i was watching this youtube video about Mr. Wickramatunge's murder the kind of comments i saw reflected the ones you'd see on an sl military video, where some ltte supporter would come and boo it. and some sla supporter would come and write some filth against him. it was the same comments except they were written by supporters of the two major political parties of sl. the war will finish. but there will be another political war. probably a war where one parties supporters will be erased off for good. and i'm guessing it'll be of the weaker party right now. could it be the start of a semi dictatorship? or a full on one? at this point i'd like to tell you i'm not accusing Mr. Rajapakshe for anything. he's already doing a great job in the north. but if one feels if he's responsible for any dictator like behaviour in the south allow me to explain. i believe us sri lankans dont have that inherent decision making ability to choose the right party with the right views at the right time. what i'm trying to say is we always stay biased to one party no matter what, cos maybe thats what we were taught by our parents, or by our friends. and then we vote for them at every little election even if they r not suited for that council or borough. if they break bones of another party's supporter, u say "good riddance" and carry on believing its the best party no matter what. you never stand up and say thats wrong you shouldn't be doing that, and when they use their power unjustly (for instance using the government media networks to sing about their achievements or diss an opposing party, or using the military and police forces at their will) we just approve it with the slightest hesitation. thats whats wrong with us. we seem to have lost our ability to see whats wrong and right. we are blinded by a curtain of loyalty and care free attitude. we are stuck in a battle with our own kind in which the right is the one who's on our side. if anybody criticises our political views and actions they are wrong (or as is the case nowadays, they support the ltte). this being a 3rd world country no party can escape the discripnacies, and allegations for their past actions. but as people of a democratic nation, our job is to approve whats right and disapprove the wrong fullstop. its why nobody from what we call the majority nowadays objects to any unreasonable action of the government that they carry on doing it. if we could for a moment struck them with fear that such actions would prove ungainly in their next election, they'd be a lot more careful. you see thats whats wrong with is. we so blindly approves anything done by the political parties we worship we've forgotten whats wrong and right. and because they know that fact they use it to their full advantage. its not their fault. its ours. if the ltte could see this they'd probably laugh to death. and long after they are gone i can see us, people of one nation, one race, fighting one another silently and sometimes openly because they believe that their party is always right.
  5. isnt it an i6? i'm not quite sure cos manufacturers offer different badges for the same engines on different countries, or vice-versa. the i6 equipped 520 does 0-60 in 9 secs which is more than enough to keep up with normal traffic. but given the size of the car a bigger engine would provide some assuarance when overtaking. and it'll probably be more economical too. however looking at the prices here i cant help but wonder, how cheap these cars would be if we dont have to pay such extravegent taxes. the target price for a base 523i is £26000 thats a little over Rs. 4 mil. and right now nearly all the cars sold in uk are cheaper than what they would cost in the country they are actually built in. so if you are looking to import a brand new non sri lankan spec car. uk is the place. wonder how much that 4 mil 5 series would cost with all the taxes added.
  6. that looks like the front grille of a lotus 7/caterham/westfield is that what it is? a front grille?
  7. the expensive agents could be a worry. but i guess you wont be visiting them that often. over here the bmw outsells mercs everywhere except in the case of 7 series. mostly thanks to their better reliability and good dynamics. people actually trust their beemers to work as good as jap jobs. not sure about sl though. cos if the cars arent tropicalised they could go wrong with our harsh conditions. remember the defence ministry still opts for tdi defenders over the so called "bmw" td5 units. its better if some bmw owners in sl could qoute here. cos nobody here seems have had a bad beemer recently.
  8. sorry guys! i'm new to this. apologies for queue barging. Dj shan n maliths may post next. and u too peri. u got the answer right
  9. BMWs are harder to ged rid of than mercs in sl. they seem to carry lower 2nd hand values too. importing one would cost the same as a similarly specced merc. but i think what you should be doing is getting a used 5 series in sl. cos it'll be much cheaper than getting a merc. and its a much better car to drive too. and beemers are better built than mercs. the only real pain in the e60 is the steer by wire system.
  10. belated wishes mate. hope u had a good one
  11. guess what this is... its unique to a certain manufacturer. and its not TVR
  12. sorry to hear the news machan. not very good with body shop stuff. but can it be mended? just wondering, cos anything can be mended in sl. looks like the suspension and rest of the body is still in good nick
  13. yes thats definitely a supra
  14. early rosas did come with the 4dr5. i asked one driver who's got a pristine 1st gen rosa. he said it comes with a 4dr5 and the engine was, i recall a 2.3. i'm guessing it was probably 2.7 like you said. but i doubt he got the engine code wrong.
  15. i bet its quicker than ur z through colombo, courtesy of the left hand side stalks
  16. oh yes! i remember that. another display of shameless left wing dictatorship. kudos to the chief magistrate for overruling it and bringing them back.
  17. defenders always intimidate other road users no matter how they look. a honk and a quick flash is all you need to claim the road yours. but what i'm more interested in knowing is how you get it around without a turbo. i was never quite a good defender driver myself. cos even though i realised the idea is to keep the turbo spooling at all time to make any progress, i could never work the gearbox and throttle well enough to stay in that band constantly. and sometimes i've literally come close to a dead halt because of that.
  18. N/A??? wow! any special mods mate? is urs a 32 reg? have you seen this one?
  19. nice story, but i think fuzzo was looking for one probably around the same time you bought urs. yours is an automatic isnt it? btw i just saw on fb that fuzzo has rolled his scooby. did anybody notice that? he's ok but if that was my car i'd be in tears.
  20. i think that changed hands a few years back. thats probably when he bought it. do you know what sort of a defender he's got?
  21. ah! i think i know this car. is it t top z? i cant remember well but i think it had a red interior. which defender have you got? i might actually know you from the defender as well.
  22. you are not the mystery man who left it his z untouched for years in some timber shop in kirulapone right?
  23. i refered to the colour of my car as a wrx blue cos thats the closest description to that colour. yes it did come in the aformentioned colours. but out of the 10 or so 1.5L RS versions that came to sl only one of them silver if i'm right. and its owned by one of my mates. i'm quite sure of this fact cos at one time i literally combed the entire nation looking for one. and i only came across blue ones. please fill me in on any new cars that probably arrived after i bought mine if you know about them. yes, there's a host of trd parts available for the car. the first time i found the catalogue i spent my entire day going through it. as for the defender, now thats a real mans car. its brutal and "subtle???" at the same time. driving one i could have sworn i was turning into horse downstairs. they should probably advertise it as a penis enlargment therapy of a car havent driven a 300zx yet. but u gotta admit it. its a rather flashy car. and lets just stop there.
  24. from what i've heard you can use it with permission fromt the dean. i'm yet to try it.
  25. im sorry but the reason my sudden fury is that somebody attempted to set fire to the kingsbury temple on friday night. those w*nkers dont even know how to set fire to a house properly. and this is, im qouting the 6th time someone caused damage to the temple in the in the past few months. my worry is that its a slightly similar event that started that 1983 conflict. if the pro-ltte tamils here love their sri lankan brothers and sisters so much they should think of the consequences before doing something for a moment of glory. cos im ashamed to say the sinhalese would love to use any excuse to turn over a few vehicles and burn down a few houses. i wouldnt dream of getting involved in such a conflict if one was to happen again. but my fellow sinhalese would certainly be less kind. and sadly its innocent bystanders like you who'll pay the price.
