you mean they still drive really fast from point to point on highways? i thought they've given up
-
i think it depends on how wobbly the wheel is and how much you can notice the differences in your cars ride. with tall tires and not so smooth roads its hardly noticable until you reach high speeds and its usually accompanied by a hum. just because you get the vibrations through the steering it cant mean its only the front wheels that are affected.
-
lol good one mate! i'm guessing one of the wheels is out of balance. cos if its the engine it'll always vibrate at that engine speed. i've experienced this in other vehicles. with badly repaired or out of balance tyres you tend to get a huge wobble at high speeds. as for the engine i'll leave that to the experts.
-
lmao! u reckon the chinese named it that?
-
i think the reason is that scene started to look uncool with the rise of the rice boy not just that. when fifth gear went to japan to check out the midnight racing scene this is what they found http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TIRl7_tQvi4

no wonder! what they should have done is use the flagship's styling cues on their scaled down offerings. i'm not sure if they turned to italdesign for the facelift. but it looks even better. not a big fan of the mock mercedes grille though. which im sure was an inhouse decision.
-
wonder why they didnt swap the engine for a 3s-ge. im guessing the sr20s more suited for the job. reminds me of the mustang from tokyo drift.
-
like tharindu said u should consider a mitsubishi mirage hatch. i was looking at a few mirages before i bought my current car. it uses most of the contemporary lancer's parts. and u got the choice of many engine swaps for future projects. i was looking for the cyborg zr version back then. didnt come across a single one. even if they are available in sl it would be a over your budget. but u could easily carry out a conversion in the future. and turn it into a bob tailed evo for the cost of about 300k. they are a bit rare. but when you come across one haggle as much as you can. cos its a big car with a tiny boot. so you could easily fool the seller to give u a sizeable cut. i dont quite understand whether u mentioned word hatch becos u care about the cars practicality. or you if want a small car that you can park in small space. if you can live without a hatch door in the back the boys have mentioned some really good motors.

i'm guessing something between 200-220. for me there's something truly magical about a slabsided land rover with a v8 rumble. and this ticks all the boxes

spot on mate! im living proof that those fact are true. well almost dead really. i was racing with a friend a few years back on marine drive when i was running gts. i was trying so hard to overtake him i didnt realise i've run out of road. this was when the road ended in front of the bamba station. i was doing close to 180 at that time. and i hit the breaks and i could have read a small book before the car came to a halt. actually it didnt stop. i went flying into this ditch at the end of the road. luckily only my bumper got a little scratched. its not just straight line braking. when i steer hard the car just keeps going where it was heading earlier until it slows down enough to catch the slide and start turning. lifes much better with potenzas

i got hunch its the thermostat valve. can you still hear it go click?

i think the leather is sourced from sl. i've seen that happen in leather converted interiors done in sl. i mean ssangyong does offer mad designs. but red leather sounds too mad for an oriental car manufacturer. so those are probably sl only options done in sl.

i was looking for potenza G III 185/55/15 81v tyres cos thats what the sticker said. they had 195/50/15s but not the 185s at that time. not sure if they didnt stock it or whether they were just plain out of stock. there was absolutely no thread left on the inside of my tyres. and gt radial was the only brand that catered for my size at that time. there could have other brands. but with the rainy season impending i went for it. mind you this was in 2005
-
yea try all the shops next to sugathadasa stadium. thats where i usually shop for tyres. there's another place next to auto court as well. they throw in free balancing and wheel aligning but i think most places do. with less grippy tyres like gts u'll never mess ur suspension. ask for what discounts they offer before u buy the tyres.
-
tharindu, i can recommend gt radial. its not really a performance tyre. i fitted them once when i couldnt find the potenza's of the right size. they had dissapointing grip compared to the potenzas but if u can drive smoothly even when u r caning it, u wont notice the difference. and im sure they fair much better than the ceat. its quite cheap too. at that time a similarly sized potenza was around 15k whereas the gt was a tad below 6. they cater pretty much all the sizes imaginable depending on your needs. i'm not sure how it works out. but my dad manages to get me a discount on some company car policy. i think it works out when u are employing over 20 people or something. so see if you can get that discount from a friend. i think the deal is you get 4 tyres for the price of 3 or 5 for the price of 4. ask the company if they offer such discounts. most companies usually throw in those buy 4 and get a discount offer. i think it'd be a worthwhile investment getting all 4 replaced. try a main agent for gt. if you wanna buy them seperately i suggest u do it in pairs, on each axle. unless you are fitting a new tyre on an axle with a similar tyre with over 3mm of thread on the other end dont do it. your car might start crabbing. and the handling will be unbalanced on various conditions. especially under braking. and dont worry about too grippy tyres ruining ur suspension cos unless they are slicks our normal roads never offer enough grip to strain the mechanical bits.

i like the mx-7. looks pretty decent. reminds me of the chevy lacetti sedan, though im guessing its smaller. a very good attempt for a chinese car. and its not a complete joke. whoever runs micro has reasonable taste. i would certainly have one over an indian car.
-
for me, out of the range rexton is the most acceptable. it still doesnt look modern and handsome as its competitors. if im going to have i want it in silver with big wheels and the red leather option everything else looks a mess. i cant agree with you guys on the kyron cos its just unbalanced. its got too many creases on the side. the shoulder line would have been fine on its own. but try to visualise it without the 2nd crease below it. either they could do without it or they made it too deep and continued it too far back. thats the biggest design fault of the car. thank go they've given it new tail lamps. anyway with that that big ugly crease the door handles look really out of place. the new front bumper is quite decent though. they should have tried to be a bit more boring with the rest of the design, if they were to appeal everybody. but sadly they came out all tvr-ish.

seen every single one (except for the motorworld uk special). loved each and every one of them. wish he'd do more interesting ones like who killed the british motor industry. the poor mans probably suffering a midlife crisis. i mean that justifies his love for the supercar

its a good thing mate! watching landies break down ever so often i like to think the golden rule is to keep it stock.
-
im not implying that our high streets are full of exotics. They are always a welcome sight. my point is we've seen the same cars over and over again on so many programs and dvd's that 600bhp sounds a bit boring. i like to hear about cars that they hardly ever feature. like say a volvo p1800, a bristol fighter, a maserati a6gcs or a porsche 959 for that matter which i've hardly ever seen on a tv program. exotics always deserve priority. but rare interesting cars deserve a place too. sadly on that dvd i found the road test of the lexus and the 944 more interesting than anything else. not saying those too are very rare or that interesting, but probably cos i havent seen a road test of one of those for ages.
-
apologies for giving anybody the impression that ssangyong makes good looking cars
-
hahaha they've already lost it. since they started showing eastenders that is
-
the 5 pot motors from volvo. trust me it sounds awesome. i'd have it over a v6 any day.
-
i sure hope micro doesnt collaborate with some truly hideous chinese car manufacturer for our motorists sake.

good sight mate! thumbs up!
