  1. Does not apply as car owners seem to have no rights, fundamental or otherwise Actually this is a very good point - if the authorities really cared about safety they should apply this law to everyone.. not just cars/vans/suv's etc.. makes you wonder why they are doing this..
  2. hey dude BTW which car is mr. Razick's skyline? Is it the red one?
  3. wow.. I thought he was you! he does resemble you somewhat I think he had the IS version as he kept firing away when light got low. I wonder what his photos were like. Hope he got good ones ps: My sincere condolences re: your grandma
  4. I agree.. they were quite friendly and posed quite a bit for photos etc.. btw when did you arrive? There was this guy carrying an L lens/camera - taking lots of photos.. wasn't sure if it was you as my eyesight is not that good haha.. guy took a lot of photos.. I was wondering if he was you or someone from Autolanka
  5. True.. they musta got bit by mosquitoes in places where mosquitoes normally don't have access..
  6. couple quick pics.. (will upload more as I process them..) I did tell her I'd get her a copy of this photo but I forgot to get her contact data.. so if anyone @ autolanka knows.. let me know ps: @Gihan.. I have more pix of your car (at least..I think I got the right car).. will post them here soon thanks
  7. definitely hope I can photograph your vehicle then!!
  8. come now guys.. peri just trying to ensure things will be OK. Lets thank him (and the other good folks at Autolanka) for organizing this instead of grumbling about this and that. if anyone here has a beef with someone, I suggest taking it up in another thread, - peri has every right to state any rule or condition or complaint he wants - since he is a moderator and he /autolanka are organizing this event - and I think his comments about wanting people to behave, and why, are quite reasonable. Back ON topic - is the parking for 'normal' vehicles in a separate place or together with the other show cars?
  9. Went to renew my insurance the other day.. then kinda realized that the company isnt doing well in the news. I was wondering if others here are using that company or have switched to others?
  10. So I should find 'lion pub' along galle road, and get on hotel road.. and this place is along that road? will do thanks
  11. Just recently started to try to teach myself clutch-less shifting (not sure what the technical term is) but I just mean shifting gears without pressing the clutch (except for 1st I guess) Seem's like a fun thing.. and helps me understand the car better,, Just want to know if anyone here tries that..
  12. can anyone give me directions sadly I have no idea how to get to this place I do roughly know Galle road, so if one can go from there... pls tell me how to get there
  13. hmm.. aside from the obvious stuff.. some things that worked for me: 1. Pulse and glide - for long drives/good roads: accelerate up a bit, then switch to neutral and coast. (unless you are going downhil in which case it makes more sense to engage a gear I guess 2. keeping tires inflated well.. 3. conserving momentum 4. coasting on neutral where possible/sensible 5. anticipating blocks up ahead and easing off gas in advance - i.e. when i know a light is going to change i don't bother racing to it disadvantages are mainly people overtaking to race to the light 6. Ensuring the engine is running as efficiently as possible (not easy in my old clunker but I try!)

  15. Holy smokes Batman! that's quite an accident, am sorry that you are hurt and hope you recover soon!!
  16. found this on the web: interesting HC (PPM): The parts per million of hydrocarbons (unburned or partially burnt gasoline) in the exhaust. CO (%): The percentage of the exhaust that is carbon monoxide (CO). CO +CO2 (%): Complete combustion in the engine or catalytic converter will result in very little carbon monoxide (CO) and a high percentage (up to about 16%) of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the exhaust. O2 (%): When there is complete combustion in the engine or catalytic converter there is a very little oxygen (O2) in the exhaust. Usually less than one percent. A higher reading indicates a problem with the engine, the exhaust system, the sampling system or the catalytic converter. Vehicles do not pass or fail because of the O2 reading; it is only diagnostic information.
  17. Got mine here.. IDLE : 798 2500 RPM : 2755 HC (PPm v/v) Standard = 1200 IDLE : 714 2500 RPM : 671 CO (% v/v) standard = 4.5 IDLE : 0.194 2500 RPM : 0.456 Lamda IDLE : 1.274 2500 RPM : 1.12 O2 IDLE : 5.141 2500 RPM : 3.051 CO2 IDLE : 10.35 2500 RPM : 11.37 Engine Temp 32 Note, timing a bit advanced. so maybe a bit lean perhaps. Also this is a carb engine, no catalytic converter (FWIW) Im curious,.. can anyone interpret these no's?

  20. Jolly good show from the SLDF! I guess Sri Lanka just showed the entire world a thing or two!
  21. Nice plate!
  22. With all due respect to OP, perhaps its time to wind up this particular conversation What I have realized from my short stay here is that everyone in this country has already decided what they want to believe, regardless as to whether their belief is based on actual fact, propaganda, theories heard around the watercooler, or sheer imagination. I think its a bit dangerous to discuss some of these things, here, especially with the current situation.. so I'd advice you guys to try to tone it down and stick to just posting links to reputed news sources.. the last thing we need is the all seeing powers turning an eye onto this web site and deciding they don't like it Just my 0.02
  23. Um. Proxies perhaps? Messing online voting isn't so hard. Moot's pals did that to help him reach no 1 in Time's top 100. Also, contrary to popular belief, the international community does not decide to intervene in conflicts, based on CNN polls.
