My sentiments exactly ........ I've encountered these buggers way too often on the Habarana road to know what to expect here..... Sad.
  8. A very Happy and Peaceful New Year to everyone !!! TC and God Bless you.
  9. Happy Birthday guys !!!! Have a good one.
  10. <p> He he yeah I do this often...if they cant park straight, then they obviously are flexible enough to get in from the passenger door.
  11. I say, good bit of info machang...thanks for that..... Shall try out soon.
  12. I'd say give the LN85 a shot.....not too sure re spare body parts, lights etc, but the mechanical spares are generally found. A friend had one for a while and he said that parts were generally ok to find. However this was about 2 years back he he.... On the other hand if you find a good specimen that hasn't been "brutalised' by the previous owner, you should be good to go. The engine and drivetrain being what it is, are easy to fix, even if it means a temporary fix till you get the proper parts, drive back to civilisation etc. I'm sure there are many more members here that can shed some light on the 85 more than I. All the best anyway.

    Steam Driven motor vehicles??? Seriously?
  14. I thought that would be the reason Strange though that you feel it doesnt pick up.....I would imagin it would go better with full time 4wd. How high is your fuel consumption that youre upset by it?
  15. How about an old gen Honda accord? you should be able to get one for well withn your budget. If youre not too worried about fuel figures, then this offers loads of space, comfort etc. Another possibility are the Corona / Carina AT 170 models, those go for around the 6 range and that leaves you spare cash for any eventualities as well. And then there are the diesel double cabs and possibly the mitsubishi jeeps? (The models used by the Safari guys...J series is it?)
  16. What is the reason that you want to dis engage the 4WD?
  17. I have a ford laser...2002 brand new. Most of the Mazda parts fit the ford (Other than body panels of course). Obtaining parts isnt much of a hassle, as there are so many places to get them from. I dont know what you consider BAD fuel economy, but mine gets about 9.5kmpl in the city, and 13 to 14 out. I consider that bloody good Overall its a very comfortable car. Most lasers out there though are reconditioned cars that come in 1500cc / 1600cc with auto transmission. Most of the brand new cars are manuals.

    Drag Racers Beware

Problem is, there are more and more inexperienced and immature drivers on the roads these days.....sometimes a law unto themselves. Money talks and a lot of these people have lots of 'spokespersons'. If they have to learn the hard way, well then so be it....but like you said its the innocents who are at risk.

    Drag Racers Beware

Absolutely with you on this.......our roads are way too congested for this kind of thing, and you'd find loads of vehicles and pedestrians out even at 2am. This is especially true on weekends when these err... 'penile extensions' as you so eloquantly put it come out to play. The risk is just not worth it.
  20. Santa? is that you? :-D

    Doublecab

If your price range is upto 1.8m, then in fact I believe you do have the option of buying a Hilux. A LN106 to be specific. As some of the others pointed out, your chances of re selling if so are better than a Nissan. But then most pick up trucks do sell well these days anyway. I've seen ones advertised on the classifieds in that range. I own a 106, but am by no means an expert on them, however the most common sense thing to do would be to have the engine and mechanicals checked out. Body panels and such are available but at a price.....other spares can be got for not too much. All the best.
  22. Yup thats the IST....... and youre right, its not really 'value for money' so to speak. I'd go for the new focus in that kinda price range ( A bit more if not mistaken )....but then thats just me
  23. Many Happy Returns of the day machang....have an awesome year ahead.
