    Tire Air Leak

Oh interesting I've hear of them but didn't know who ran the place I think TAAS sends them work for KYB installation
  2. Thanks to COVID ?
  3. @Husny keep in mind that no matter how good a car the Lancer is, it's still a used vehicle not a brand new one so you're going to have to deal with various running repairs that are common with age/use. If you want something virtually devoid of any major maintenance they you need to buy a car with tried, tested & proven technology brand new from a reputed agent with a long warranty ? Is the Wagon R problematic??
  4. The March/Micra K13's are not nearly as popular as the old ones were for some strange reason. You rarely see them ?‍♂️

Mr @Sylvi Wijesinghe, they retain two buildings on Malay Street now - one acts as a car part and is behind where the old Castle Hotel once stood. The second which I think you're referring to is on the opposite side. That block seems to be safe for now, but the ones on the same side as the De Soysa buildings are likely to be torn down based on the fact that almost all the buildings already have You are spot on regarding the quality of their branded items - they represent Yale here as well right? They were pioneers in introducing laminated surfaces to Sri Lanka with the "Formica" brand I believe.
  6. @Ted Unit#d Mot#rs used to import "Prestone" years ago but i don't think the product is freely available anymore. They used to sell out of their Hyde Park corner showroom so try calling them. Also check with Motorcade on Braybrooke Place. Failing which try a German brand called LiquiMoly - i've used a number of their products personally and have been quite happy. I think they had a radiator flush https://greasemonkey.lk/product/liqui-moly-radiator-cleaner-300ml-1804/ The local agent is Semini Motors in Panchikawatte just before Tower Hall. Price maybe a little cheaper when buying direct vs online so call and check
  7. Guessing it's a brand new import? So Indian made 1.5 L petrol? Is it a manual or an automatic? If it's the latter made sure it isn't the DCT - if it's the PowerShift transmission, walk away - the DCT's are disaster I hope you're getting it at a good price?
  8. Year quite possibly - these were bought as fleet cars as well so check the ownership history and even more so the maintenance history. It's always a trade off - company owned usually means Softlogic/Agent maintained at least for the 5 years but private vehicles may have been gently used if it was an owner/driver scenario but there's room that corners were cut or makabases had access to the car ?‍♂️
  9. Clearly there is no shortage of fun ? eh @Gummybr ? @AVANTE, @ShintaroX, @speed8 I think @Gummybr just threw down the gauntlet ? @Kavvz you're up next - don't let the oldies down! #nopressure
  10. @Gummybr @AVANTE how about it?
  11. Oi @Gummybr ko??
  12. @Gandalf there were a few doctor owned & lecturer owned ones which came up for sale at various points in time so i wonder if there were permit cars which came as manuals to keep the CIF down or something

@trinity U&H on Malay Street in Slave Island you mean? O.T; that whole neighbourhood has changed in the last month - U&H, MM Noorbhoy & Amila tyre are the last few buildings left. Everything else has been razed to the ground ? Amila is no longer present on Union Place in Dehiwala but Ravindra tyre house still is
  14. Perhaps check with JJ in Mount Lavinia as well? 0112 729 352
  15. Mr @Sylvi Wijesinghe or his staff will have to look at your car in order to offer quotation i'm guessing. His place is conveniently located just off Galle Road in Colombo so might as well show it to them and see. They are the agents for American NOVUS Glass repair locally AFAIK
  16. Very informative Mr @Sylvi Wijesinghe?
  17. @Kavvz occasionally you see the odd S80 with the T6 engine
  18. @walkernetI haven't used either of the services personally but i believe Macro Autotech does
  19. Suzuki's seem to hold decent value locally Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say but I wouldn't class off the Baleno as a "looker" ?? They seem reasonably equipped. Is this a brand new A*W import or a Japanese reconditioned specimen?
  20. I have't used one personally but can recommend the non GDI petrol engines as we used a 2L Montero IO for a while. Very reliable, straightforward with minimal maintenance required. I was under the impression though that locally most had managed to figure out how to fix the GDI's but if you can avoid it you might as well in that it isn't trouble free, just the there were enough vehicles, especially the JDM Monteros for garages to have learned how to put it right which invariably involves a new fuel pump I believe
  21. Oh also @Gandalf the driving position is nice in that you sit a little higher than most other similar small sedans. The car is narrow and the steering is light so it makes for a nice city car, especially if you don't want a hatchback. I got double digit fuel economy on the highway but in town I remember it being disappointing - again i'd blame that 4 speed automatic which personally I feel let down what was quite a decent car. A friend who drove it very regularly really enjoyed it so there are those who aren't fussed by the gearbox too much but for me personally the automatic on it is a deal breaker. So if you can find a manual I reckon it would make a good sub 2.5 Mn compact sedan purchase. Do be warned though, it's not a run of the mill Japanese car so not every shop in Panchikawatte or Delkanda has parts than can be bought over the counter at a moments notice so there could be lead times to contend with when sourcing parts, especially these days with these various supply chain constraints/disruptions.
  22. @Gandalf I'm far more of a Subaru guy than a Ford fan to be perfectly honest but the modern Ford ownership experience was brief but pleasant one In terms of the safety I don't think very many other cars come close to the Fiesta in that particular class of car nor in the same price/size/age bracket. IIHS Top Safety Pick in it's day with 7 airbags (including a knee airbag) & Euro NCAP 5* https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/ford/fiesta-4-door-sedan/2011 https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/ford/fiesta/10922 I owned it for less than a year and it was quite reliable. I had a coolant hose pop out once - they're attached with a clip so it was just a matter of clipping it back, fill up and go. Admittedly i'm fussy about preemptive maintenance and had just a tonne of things done after I bought the car - so all the fluids, filters, plugs, belts, shocks, rubber bushes, tires, etc etc. In a sense that probably held me in good stead. The car shares a tonne of parts with the Mazda Demio & older Mazda 2 so those work perfectly if the original FoMoCo bits are unavailable. There are a number of places like Rainbow Motors who stock aftermarket bits but I got a little lazy and had Mazna Motors source things. Some parts I did order online and like @Crosswind had mentioned earlier in this thread are quite reasonable. Body parts are a little tricky i found out when i wanted to replace a faded reverse light. Api Singhe Motors in Delkanda has bits but they sell at a premium to a Japanese car part. Keep in mind the Softlogic imported ones were made in Thailand but the Fiesta was assembled in a number of places including China, which means that cheap cosmetic bits, interior plastics or even larger items like lights etc are freely available on AliExpress as well if you want to chance it. My one grouse is with the automatic gearbox. It's a lowly 4 speed (4F27E) which has a Mazda iteration as well ( FN4A-EL) It's not like the disastrous Ford PowerShift dual clutch units in that this is a box that can be serviced. Overhaul parts are readily available from various reputed transmission component manufacturers and can be purchased online. That said, the gearbox isn't perfect. There are many online accounts of rough shifts, flares etc. It has a manumatic (tiptronic) option as well but the shifts can feel a little sluggish. Keep in mind it was a seperate transmission controller unit as well. Personally if I ever bought one again, i'd get a manual instead because the engine despite being a simple 1.4L 4 pot, was fine and I felt would have been far more responsive and fun to drive with a manual. The chassis and driving dynamics are what you would expect from a European designed car, but keep in mind this isn't a premium offering. The cabin is quiet so the NVH levels felt marginally superior to the newer generation Mazda 2 which @Supra_Natural owns which I got to use parallel to the Ford. There is sufficient sound deadening and the it has factory fitted steering mounted ICE controls. On the highway it's very smooth and despite it sitting a little tall it was unaffected by crosswinds nor was it unsettled by undulations elsewhere. Never had an issue with ground clearance either. It felt surprisingly refined for a car of that class and the ride was quite compliant.
  23. @dimalm with all due respect, could we know why you're looking at a Daewoo specifically? The company itself is now bankrupt Locally the cars are undesirable and have little to no resale value They were fairly primitive to begin with an didn't really do anything note worthy so i'm honestly baffled as to why anyone would want one? Locally i can't say i can think of anyone who carried Daewoo spare parts, so leave aside the cost, the availability alone will be an issue If you don't mind us asking, what is your budget and what are your requirements? Perhaps we can suggest a slightly more sensible option?
  24. I meant we have two C70 Cabrios? The C70 Coupe in black was owned once upon a time by Sangakkara! Most of the Cross Country XC70's are sadly now funeral herses ?
  25. @AVANTE well done! Floor is yours @Kavvz aiyo this was yours to lose ?‍♂️
