  1. Yes.. some you get pre-mixed and some you have to mix at the time of filling.
  2. 4 gallons of oil?????? I think you should first of replace your mechanic!!! Depending on the vehicle it should be 50:50 mixture of coolant and water. As for the AT Fluid change, its a mixed bag. Some people do the manual thing, some people prefer the machine.... But the machine cleaning is less invasive and seem to work well. Mechanics loves to complicate simple stuff to make extra money off gullible vehicle users.

Both roads from Malabe will take you to Kithulgala... via Kaduwela, Ranala, Hanwella on the low level or via Athurugiriya, Godagama via High Level (bit longer). If we meet in Malabe... then Millennium Drive is there for a big enough parking place and a nice photo op!

  8. Honestly Don, WHAT can you do to increase the performance of an Alto without making it dangerous? I will tell you an incident that happened a few years ago on Talangama Koswatte Junction. There was a guy who did up his Alto. He had the works in it. K&N Filter, straight flow exhaust that woke up the neighbours, ect ect.. and this guy indeed drove very fast and like a jerk... but one day he took that darn bend in the junction a tad too fast and the car just toppled and injured 3 pedestrians and himself. If this forum needs to have some credibility like you say, we need to advise people responsibly. Getting a a car like a Alto extra oomph to satisfy the ego of a immature wannabe boy racer just puts us all at risk. IMHO, the Alto or the Maruti Cannot handle any extra bhp as the whole chassis/suspension setup was NEVER designed for that. If the dude wants to modify an older Galant, Lancer, Sooby or even Mazda, I am fine with it as these Chassis can handle a an extra 10-20BHP without compromising safety. That's my take on that. I have very strong feelings on this matter as I lost a friend of mine overseas for the same reason. He drove a car that couldn't handle the extra bhp and ran head on to a parked truck. Besides, how many times have we gone around this particular Mulberry bush and that thread had enough and more pages to convince anyone...
  9. Chill machang.... don't get your Maruti in a twist now. If you want to mod your Alto... fine... here is what I would do, if Karma ever put me in the same dilemma you are in. Tint the windows. (so no one can see me driving the car)

    Failed Emission Test

    Get the car serviced first, change/clean air filters, get the plugs changed/cleaned. For it to be running rich, perhaps the air is clogged. Before the next test, put a bottle of Valvoline Injector cleaner in to a full tank of gas and run a few 100 Kms. Do the basics and try and see.

  12. hey Prad... sorry machang.. too late... we bought it!! Ha ha ha ha ha! Its a 4WD Double Cab, Ford Courier/Ranger. Got a good price and went for it as it was a known party who was selling her. Will see if we can join you guys on Sunday. Do a Wiki search on the Ford Courier/Ranger.
  13. Sorry to barge in on this like this... my friend has been offered a great deal on 98 Ford Courier truck that has been maintained well. What is the going rate for one of those? Drives like a car, engine is smooth as a Diesel can be and lovingly maintained by the forst and only owner. 253-XXXX. what will be the ideal selling price?

  17. Supra, get the police report machang. I heard that every month all Insurance companies have to report to the police about their claims and the cops compare those claims against the reports and any missing ones will be noted and the drivers charged with Not reporting an accident. C. V*P might be cutting corners due to the current issues plaguing the company and to keep the customers happy, but the law of the land must prevail. Just make an entry and say no injuries and minor damage.

  19. 3rd party is great as long as nothing happens year after year... but one day when your number is up, then what?? I will not risk either of my babies. No point in being penny wise pound foolish. No offense to anyone. The premium will be compared to nothing if you get T Boned by a TATA or a rear ended by a crazy van johnny. no offense to van owners too.. Just get a professional valuation done on your car and pay the specified premium and drive safely. Better be safe than sorry.

  21. well said... its not worth the loss. I too regretted once for getting 3rd part. I had real run of bad luck one horrible week in 2003. 2 bad crashes in one week within the same police division. Damages 100K, 2 separate court cases, ect etc. I saved Rs500 on insurance and spent 100K!!!
