  1. Sir, I never Write Sarcastic. Few Members write against my posts and Write Sarcastic. What I write all are my experiences. You wrote (Seriously? All cars boxer engines? you just became the biggest laughing stock on AL of the week!!!!) (Seriously? All cars boxer engines? you just became the biggest laughing stock on AL of the week!!!!) IT IS NOT ME DILESH YOU ARE THE ABOVE FROM YOUR SARCASTIC WRITING. I HAVE HANDLED MOST EXPENSIVE BMW BENZ USED BY (VVIP) HUMMER MOST OF THOSE VEHICLES EVEN THE PASSENGER CABIN IS WATERPROOFED Wijesinghe.

  3. Sir, Almost all new cars have Boxer Engines. Yes You can disable fan by removing fuse control relay or Disconnecting the fan wires. If they are water proofed can go in Flooded water some BMW HUMMER Etc Can go under flooded water For Your Information I was Writhing about in 1980 days Cars my Experience Spark plugs Distributor was assessable easily. If the fan belt is not removed from those engines driving in Flooded water will flash water on them and engine will stop. I mentioned early at R.A.De.Mel Mawatha I traveled very low Flood water and my Temperature meter doped reading after I came out of Flooded water on normal Road the Meter came back to normal. Early days motorists used to spray Penetration oil and wash cars undercarriage this was stopped after Clean park educated car owners not to spray any oil only to wash them by high pressure and he used to clean the engine by hand when he washes the engine bay he used to cover that area with polythene cover Clean Park (Ranjan Rathnasena Esq) is the Father of modern auto detailing to this country Many others followed him. This forum is there to share Experience with other members and to relate our past Experiences in a friendly way. But I do not experience that high quality here Some forum members are like Politicians. Wijesinghe.
  4. Members for your information. Driving in flooded Roads. More than 50 Vehicles are already sucked water into their cylinders running in flood waters. Connecting rods are damaged many are still in repair garages waiting to complete repairs. Wijesinghe.
  5. Mr.Dilesh, I think you have good experience of making Tea so treat your Mechanics with good evening Tea. Wijesinghe.
  6. Mr. GihanFx, I leave you to assess the amount. Wijesinghe.
  7. Members of the forum, Removing the fan belt was done not to flash flood water to Spark Plugs Plug wires and distributor not to any thing with engine temperature some idiotic members do comment against this. I have done this many times in my life. I only shared my Experience I never wanted any other member to do this. I have done my Engineering Theory and Practical long before most members were born in a first class country. When ever I do a Engine overhaul I run the engine few hours on my test bench with controlled running water from a electric pump connected. To cool the Engine with a Temperature meter. Wijesinghe.
  8. Sir, I agree with you about running water inside engine to cool engine block we do not go very far in flood waters so engine heat can stand few minutes without any damage to engine. I noticed yesterday my Van Temperature meter reading low in R.A.De. Mel Mawatha which was flooded about 1 foot and when I passed that section the meter came back to normal reading. Wijesinghe.
  9. Sir, Thank you for your comment. Wijesinghe.
  10. Sir, Mr,VVTi. What I wrote in my post was my past experience not a false information. New cars have Electric fans only alternator Poly V belt belt and Air condition compressor belt. Please understand sump goes under cool flood water then the Oil too gets cool. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Wijesinghe.
  11. Sir, Thanks for your very interesting Comment Mr, Dilesh. Dip sticks are there on both sides of flooded roads to give their services for a fee. I have come across Land tractors on both sides of flooded roads to pull cars during past for a fee. Wijesinghe.
  12. Sir, I have the circular issued by the Commissioner General Registrar of Motor Vehicles in Sinhala. that Circular clearly says semi luxury Cabs Diesel 2200 cc Vehicles. Duel Purpose Petrol 1800cc Vehicles. Have to pay Rupees 10000.00 on first Registration. Thereafter every year Rupees 1000.00 less for seven years after that no luxury tax after 8th year. I am not sure of the duty structure but VAT at from 12% will go up to 20%.There will be additional 8%. Wijesinghe.
  13. Sir, I have been driving from late 1957 in Flooded roads in Srilanka all in petrol driven Vehicles All those Vehicles and 4X4 wheel Vehicles what I did was to remove the fan belt before I enter the flooded area have two persons to guide the road ahead of the Vehicle so that I will be on the center of the road if not I will end up on the side of the road. Always on 1 st Gear. I first send a person to asses the water level on the flooded road you can cross if water level is two and half feet. Re fix the fan belt and drive back. Causeways was there in Trinco Puttlam old Mannar down South Roads in GOOD OLD days now all those Causeways have Bridges. For the information of members I remove the fan belt is not to flash water on to the engine Plugs area and to the Distributor flood water cools the engine so no boiling. Old Vehicles had carburetors mostly on upper side of the engine so no water will suck into the engine. Srilanka did not have small Vehicles with Diesel engines in good old days. If my memory is correct Peugeot was the first small Vehicle came to Srilanka in late 1970. Above is my Experience in driving on Flooded Roads. Wijesinghe.
  14. Sir, This Dyno unit has front and rear Rollers. Because Srilanka needs this type of equipment owner has invested on same. (ANSWER TO POST BY ANOTHER MEMBER OF THIS FORUM Don't know why some people pretend as if they are the keepers of state secrets) I did not get permission from the owner who fix it in his work shop to inform others. I fix some other Auto servicing unit there. Wijesinghe.
  15. Sir, Let that come into operation will give all info. Wijesinghe.
  16. Sir, Dyno for testing cars is on fitting process in Colombo very soon it will be in operation. Wijesinghe.
  17. 'Elvis_Pil' Sir, Yes I will definitely go to court if I am given ticket for a offense not done by me. Thanks for your encouraging me by posting to plan on challenging it? In future I will start driving above 80 KMs. I will definitely get positive results for all motorists benefit. Wijesinghe.
  18. Sir, Speeding is a offense over a certain limit. As harshansenadhir told early he is waiting till some one challengers this in court. My opinion is giving a ticket instead of speeding for recklessly driving is a Violation of the Police officer who issues the ticket Legality and Intelligence of that officer. This point is Questionable in court of law and it is I think this is violation of human wrights issuing a Ticket for a offense a person had not done. Wijesinghe.
  19. Sir, I agree with your ground clearance comment of leaf springs at the optimum setting without any modifications. Old Skoda cars had a shackle with three positions if you go with a load or on bad road the car owner can shift to the position to his selection on the shackle in rear leaf spring. One friend of mine in 1960 did raise his jeep by getting a Black-smith to make the springs curve increased of the jeep leaf springs to get more ground clearence he ended up with a Accident in Anuradhapura at 60 MPH without control of his Jeep. Srilanka roads were very bad in 1960. In Colombo I use low position on the shukle When ever I go to TalliMannar and Jaffna during those days what I do was raise my rear suckle to a higher end so that I can go on bad roads. I used to carry 4 people and lot of heavy tools for my Profession. Wijesinghe.
  20. Sir, I appreciate what you pointed out that we all make mistakes in English writing we are Srilankans Sinhalese We cannot expect all to write English without any spelling mistakes and Grammar. If you read most foreign forums you will come across mistake in grammar and spellings. I hope you will not get offended to my comment. Wijesinghe.
  21. Sir, I have not done for any Jeeps but for Japanese Vans from late 1970 up to today on rear and front Coil springs all what I have never had any problems never drove more than 70 Kms I do not know how they will perform in high speeds when you take a bend. Most Vehicles rear Leaf springs was reduced from 5 to 3 and front coil Springs was reduced to a smaller gauge never changed Shock absorbers. This is a Practical experience what I have Very soon we ill be getting a Testing unit for All cars for modifications to Engines and suspension at the moment fitting process is on in Colombo. Wijesinghe.
  22. Sir, Can you get in touch with me over the Phone My numbers are 2573690.0712222420. Or leave your Telephone number on the Forum I will call you. Wijesinghe.
  23. Sir Please contact Mr. Lucky his telephone number is 0777794121 he will advice you if you want you can get him to fix up same to your car. Wijesinghe.
  24. Sir, When the vehicle is new the thermostat works OK after some time they give trouble. Yes fan takes little late time to start due to without Thermostat engine take little more time to reach the temperature to work the Electric fan as control thermostat of the fan activates only the correct temperature when the engine reaches. Engine temperature reaches very fast when the thermostat is inside the Radiator. I agree with other posts of maintaining engine temperature thermostat works for peek performance of the Engine. I have used new ond used Vehicles more than twenty after some time I used to remove the thermostat from the Radiator when ever I clean the Radiator. I have done this when the temp meter shows the temp is high or I all ways clean the Radiator after 40000 Kms. Now we have plastic tanks on Aluminum Radiators. My personal experience by removing the thermostat did not give me any trouble till I disposed those Vehicles. The Vehicle I use now after Radiator cleaning I removed same. Wijesinghe.
