  1. Uploaded the video to Youtube.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwSkTsY_XiE Anyways, hope you get a 700D for this Aluth Awrudu..
  2. H.C., Sorry I took the prices from Ph@toTe@hnica. I guess they are out dated. BTW, I was saying about D7000. If you get a chance check for prices for that too and see if its within your budget. Since you are looking for little bit of wildlife D7000 would give you a faster focusing and you can increase iso to compensate the light loss from basic lenses. Since cameras like d3300 does not come with focus motors focusing might be slower. D7000 would be the cheapest with a focus motor. Hope below video might help to understand what i was talking about; https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152865854801645&l=3118595503573660269 <Pls let me know if you can't access the video as its in my FB> But anyways I also own D3200 its a great camera. But for certain scenarios D3200 is not enough. So it might be a good idea to start with d3300 and if it really needed you can update. Also as Peri said try Canon too.. KMeeg.
  3. If you are looking for a Nikon i believe if you can extent you budget a little bit for a old model Nikon D7000 (about Rs 99,000) would be better than new Nikon D3300 (about Rs 77500). Below are few main points i like about Nikon d7000 over Nikon 3K series. D7000 is weather seal (less dust), more focus points (39), Fast shutter speed & burst rate, Build in focus motor (focusing is much faster, supports many older lenses), Standard battery grips available to use 2 batteries, etc.. I haven't own a D3300 but have owned a D3200 so i'm not 100% sure if there is any huge difference from D3200 -> D3300. Anyways these are some tips from a beginner. Better to get more info from Peri or someone who has good knowledge on this subject. KMeeg.
  4. I'm a beginner to this area and have very limited knowledge. But I check on below site when I select my lenses. It gives some idea about the quality of the lenses. You can also refine your search too based on your requirements.. http://www.dxomark.com/Lenses/Ratings BTW, according to this site i see that Tamron & Sigma also produce quality lenses. Let me know if that's a wrong statement. Also on the options of bringing down lenses I've seen many IT companies send people to countries like USA for short period (2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, etc..) so I guess if you have any friend you could get down a lens. Right? KMeeg.

    Nissan Presea

As per my experience if you really love the car everything can be fixed properly if you go to the right place. Certainly it will come with a cost. If the parts cannot be found in local market you might have to import from ebay. Certainly I’m not an expert, but so far i didn't have bad experience even with old cars. May be because I’m willing to spend to fix things properly. But it’s just my opinion / experience.. One more point I would like to share, but don’t blast me for this, this is only my opinion. If I were you I would just buy a good condition Presea (Auto / Manual) and do all the repairs needed and do a good paint / polish job as needed.

    Nissan Presea

Yes I agree sir.. May be he could do the regular repair work properly if any repair comes with the Presia would be the best for now i guess right?

Even if the car has 8 owners and if you could buy it for a bargain why not do a full restoration with a engine overhaul? The car will be good as new. And you would never know the feeling you get after a full restoration project.. To add more there are many in the forum who has very good technical knowledge and they will help you and advice you (as time permits) step by step with the restoration.
  8. In that case do they repair differential with GI pipes or Airbags with shopping bags too..????
  9. Amen to that. But the sad part is iPhone users does not understand that.. I've given up explaining them why iPhone sucks.. BTW anybody checked news about Galaxy S6? Looks much like iPhone 6. http://www.samsung.com/us/register/six-appeal/?cid=ppc-

    Fuel Efficiency

I'm not sure about that J, but generally when you set to 30C doesn't the heater starts? (unless the inside temperature is higher inside). Otherwise could have mention A/C Off right?
  11. As far as i remember there was a warning in Perodua Viva manual saying that you could damage your catalytic converter if you run on low fuel. Not sure it is same for Axio as well (If catalytic converter is inside fuel tank). Not a mechanic so I don't have much idea on this but wouldn't it be safer not to run on low fuel. Not sure about cars but I only remember bikes have a reserve feature where you can turn to reserve if you are on low fuel..
  12. When i buy these i use to check reviews from below videos. I guess it would be safer to go with known brands like Cobra / Escort / Valentine / Beltronics. https://www.youtube.com/user/radarroy
  13. Ya That's true Crosswind. Not very comfortable to fix a Laser jammer. Radar detector was ok. If by any chance if you are stopped by a cop you can quickly remove and hide it.
  14. Machan, Waze would be be same as Escort Live right? Unless someone mark the spot you won't get the notification right? But i do agree Waze is more active and free vs Escort Live.. Also would love to install laser jammer but only problem is if by any chance if you are stopped by a cop and if they notice the laser jammer sensors you will be in big trouble right?
  15. Sorry I have no idea about detectors good for express way but i think this info might be help full at least a little. Both Escort Passport Max & Escort Smart Radar are good for radar guns (But sometimes you get false warnings too). Also with "Escort Live" you can report a cop / Speed camera /etc.. so that other will be warned too. Both detectors comes with 1 year free service for "Escort live" and after that you need to update the subscription. Also these detectors comes with 2 hard wire kits in addition to the default cable for cigarette lighter plug and you can easily fix to your mirror power supply (No wire cutting or soldering needed) or if you mirror does not have power you can easily fix to the fuse box. Hope this helps until others provide info about detectors good for expressway.
  16. Does anybody know whether using OEM parts will effect the warranty agreement?
  17. Mind if i ask (since i'm not aware of the current market) what are the Japs you can get for the same price? Does CRV \ RAV4\ CX5 can be found for the same price? If so since you look for little bit of 4x4 even though RAV4s are AWDs but still has Diff Lock right? It might be little helpful for minor 4x4 trips when its needed.. But keep in mind this category does not come with good ground clearance so you will scratch you side steps with rocks & bumps. I guess nowadays KIA & Hyundai come with decent quality and sometimes have more fancy features right? But keep in mind if you plan to sell it after sometime you might end up with a higher lost than selling a Jap. Am I wrong ppl?
  18. Exactly VVTi I was wondering. Since i haven't own a Hybrid i was wondering; 1. Does a hybrid really give that much fuel economy when you travel in Colombo traffic? 2. Also is it really worth to pay {the value of a hybrid + insurance cost + fuel cost} vs a {cheaper car + insurance + fuel}? On another point about this "Petition Hybrid" its really bad to see these kind of sudden tax changes and i know how it feels bcos i was impacted twice due to these kind of changes. Wish those who already opened LCs would get some sort of relief this time even though we didn't get last time.. I don't think any of us want to see ppl loosing money..
  19. Hehh hee... Nice idea.. BTW, this is a CD 125/185/200? Did they came with round spedometers and those small signal lights on front? Or they are all modified? Anyways its nice to see those old Honda CDs & Wish the owner could do a little more better job like new silencers & footrest, better wiring on handle and repair and paint the rust under seats and side stand.. On a side note i know a family friend in Weliweriya who owns a 8sri (if i'm not mistaken) a Honda CD 185 in its original looks and good condition. Surely eye candy for me..
  20. Thanks machan. Talking about alloys, i found difficulty on finding alloys that fits without spacers. Any alloy was fitting rare but most were not fitting to front because of the 'grease cup'. I didn't wan't to remove it or add spacers. So ended up with this alloy set. But some time later will try to fit another decent set that matches KE72. Not sure if i could get a original alloy set that comes to newer corollas. Not sure though. Don't want to screw the looks of KE72. Though i restored the interior, i look forward to take it to a good cushion work place and completely redo the interior from floor to seats and hood. Might look to do it with leather / good fabric depending on availability of original ash color. cmxjn > Please check my old post with the costs, i added the engine repair cost.
  21. Thank you Sampath.. But to be honest i'm really have no idea about the nickel door handles. But i've seen those on 14 sri and 15 sri ones. Also to add more i've seen mirror on door too and they looks original. To add more this one (18 - ) and my friends car (15 sri) both had original 12inch tires with black small caps but my uncles (17 - ) came with 165/80/R13 rims original with full wheel covers. BTW all these 3 cars came with black door handles. I know when can discuss about each and every part because i'm seen lot of differences comparing each KE72..
  22. It would be an awesome project to restore is to the original specs and love to see a original spec KE74. As of now i can give you below amounts to closest 1K and these amounts are as of end 2008 / early 2009. Fixing rust work & aligning stuff - 49K Paint job from scratch to metal - 69K A/C work - 22K New Locks/ Central locking / Security System - 15K New alloys + tires (after 8K deduction for existing tires & rims) - 42K Mag city tint - 3K Let me check if i could find amounts for other tasks. But not sure.. <Updated Jan 16> crank shaft check & grind , re-bore block, repair pulley oil seal seat, crank sleeve check, reface engine head, align con rods, piston check, one set piston rings , spares , service charge- 12,980 + 13,390 + 45,410
  23. I only found 2 pics since i'm out of country at the moment. There were more pics at home when it was newly restored.. Also i hide reg plate and face since i uploaded in a photobucket.
  24. I too did a restoration for a KE72. I'm not sure if its ok to mention the exact names of garages that i did it. Admin please remove the names if its against the policy. So here is my story. I did my restoration at Mithila garage in Narahenpita. Its near Police hospital , NLDB, Railway crossing. So here's the summery. The car was fully dissembled for this process including engine, seats, light fittings, etc.. 1. Engine was send to Edirisingha brothers for overhaul (bcos i requested to get it done as this car ran on LPG for couple of years which was converted by Laughs and i wanted a complete restoration job after disconnecting the LPG system. I would never use LPG again and won't recommend to any one who loves their car). 1.1 Rest of the mechanical checks and repairs was done by the garage itself but the master brake pump repair was done by some place in Panchikawatta, but all the coordination was done by the garage. 2. Complete paint job was done by the garage and they have a paint booth. Existing paint was removed to the metal and paint job started from zero. I applied the same color which was in the registration but only difference was it was metallic paint. 3. During this time i was shopping for new light fittings including headlights, tail lamps, new led lights for dashboard, new door locks, central locking system, security system. Also i didn't like the existing 155/R12 tires and rims so i found a decent looking alloy set and 175/r13 tires (Brand new). If you are searching for alloys make sure you buy alloys that can be fixed without spacers. Rear tires wont be a issue check with front tires. But remember since KE72 does not have power steering more the grip tire gets harder it get to turn at still. Not much of a problem while driving. 3.1 I changed the original sealed beam head lights to 100w H4 halogen headlights. As it requires lot of current i had to use a 60amp battery and changed the alternator. 3.2 I was able to find almost all light fittings new except for the lights inside front bumper & reverse lights. So existing ones were used after thorough cleaning. 3.3 For rear speakers i removed the original hardboard and fixed a wooden board which is modified to look 'almost' same as the original hardboard. 3.4 I already had a good single din setup so didn't do any change for that. Also kept the original AM receiver as it is because i couldn't think of anything to do in that place. But i did re-wiring for all speakers at Pet#o Lanka because they fix the setup in the first place, so i went to them again. 3.5 Central locking and Security system was fixed at SunLanka. Before that i installed new locks to 2 doors, boot lock, ignition key. 4. For seat covers and upholstery work the garage hired another person who came to the garage and complete it. -- But if you can take it to Goonawardana cushion works it will be better, all my other cars was taken to Goonawardana cushion works Wijerama. They did awesome job for cushion works and complete carpet jobs. 5. For electrical re-wiring the car was taken to a near by place for re-wiring. 6. Suspension testing and adjustment, Brake test, head light alignment was done at Nalaka wheel alignment. 7. When it comes to A/C most parts were replaced but kept the existing compressor because i didn't find a matching new one. A/C task was done at Frostair. 8. Engine tuneup was done by Mr Dhammika. 9. For complete cleaning job the car was taken to Cleen park. 10. I did a window tint from Mag city but i don't recommend that as the tint color changed after few years. I wouldn't recommend anything more than 3M Chrystaline tint. Its the best i've ever used. (But i didn't change the tint on KE72 to 3M). This is at highlevel what i did on my KE72 restoration project.. Hope this helps to start your project.
  25. Ramesh, Help me understand (since i have very low insurance knowledge), I believe the insurance is covering the vehicle right? As long as you have licensed driver and not drunk doesn't insurance should cover it? On another point / a lesson to learn where drinking will crew your life. At-least take a cab/taxi if you are taking a drink.. Live better - Drive safe..
