  1. Phone camera comparison between 3 old phones & 1 new phone. Pics were joined next to each other with MS Paint.. Feel free to comment if you have any ideas.. Adding more - All pictures taken in same lighting condition with ISO 100 and everything else Auto. But for Iphone 5S everything is Auto as default camera app does not allow to change any settings.
  2. Thanks for the info. I will check with the agent if its fungus or dust. Also i checked D610 discussions in flickr and many have claimed that D610 has dust problem..
  3. Yeah, I guess I should use it carefully and not be fooled by the term ‘Weather sealed’. Even on this Saturday I was at a place called ‘Sandia Peak’(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandia_Peak_Tramway) in with elevation of 10378 feet and taking photos with no cover when it was snowing heavily. Since it’s not winter the snow was melting quickly and camera was wet. That might cause the spots I guess. Even before that many times I was out with no cover when it’s snowing / raining. Basically most of the scenic photos taken at F22 are unusable. But the family photos taken at F2.8 – F5 are usable. This could be a lesson to others also who are having ‘weather sealed’ cameras & lenses. Looks like it’s just a sales thing. We have to be careful with our camera’s. Else beautiful pics taken at a long trip will be wasted.. KMeeg.
  4. Hi All, Today I just gave my Nikon D610 & Nikon 70-200 f2.8 vr II for cleaning. My camera is about 7 months old but already got dust spots on the image sensor. (Dust was very visible at F22) I'm not sure whether I’m not too careful with the camera or is it due to a sealing issue. Since both camera and lens is weather sealed I don’t take much care. I just go out in rain / snow / dust. I don’t use any extra care I just put them in my bag after a photo shoot. (Meaning with no moist reduction thing or anything.). I only have a cleaning cloth and a lens pen to clean the lenses. No other cleaning kit. So my question is; 1. Do you guys have same kind of issue? 2. Do you guys do anything to take extra care about your camera? – Reason is one of my friends told that he is using sealed bags and silica or something to reduce moist for his camera and lenses. Let me know if you have any additional info about this topic. Also the reason I gave to an agent is I’m scared of playing with the sensor. Appreciate your advise or info, KMeeg.
  5. As far as i know that's how it should be. Correct me if i'm wrong. Performance tires have a shorter thread life. Basically Performance tires give Better grip, Less comfort, High noise & short thread life. High thread life will only given with 'All season non performance tires'. I think the best thing to do is notice the reading of the tire rather than just going for brands. I'm not sure we can complain any popular brand like Pirelli / Yokohama / Michelin / GoodYear, etc.. if we read the markings properly and select the tire to our needs. Hope this link will help to understand; What Your Tire's Markings Tell You - http://www.cars.com/go/advice/Story.jsp?section=maintenance&story=tires-101&subject=tires This is just my opinion.. KMeeg. Adding more - If you are really looking for a particular brand which gives good performance try - 'Pirelli pzero corsa asimmetrico' ones. They have the speed rating of 'ZR'. For Impreza 245/45ZR18 (100Y) should fit.

  10. Hi Dilan, If i'm not mistaken i paid around same amount (Rs1000 - 2000) and they did Wheel alignment + shock-absorber test + break test. Sorry it was sometime back so cant remember the exact amount. But i was really happy with their service. They will provide the report for all these 3 type of test which we can compare the green values vs the values in your car. They also do headlight focus & alignment which is good too. It was around Rs500 or 1000 or something. They did a great job where i converted the regular headlights to HIDs in one of my Viva's (KL-0259 - not sure who is the current owner) and the light was all over the place. They nicely aligned it to most of the light to be focus on the road rather than on coming traffic.. Bottom line i'm very happy with their service. (I went to the Union place shop) KMeeg.
  11. I think its a Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser @ Zoo - https://www.flickr.com/photos/kasunmeegahapola/13914047139/
  12. Hi, I just check the new corolla in 'Toyota Lanka' site and the body looks like 2012/2013 Corolla and It does not say what engine it has but the Transmission looks like its CVT. It has the gear positions of P - R - N - D and then S + & - with steering shift + & -. Just for info - Here in US the 2014 corolla body looks different than 2007 - 2013 Corolla models. And the gear positions with 2014 CVT ones are P - R - N - D and then M + & -, with steering shift + & -. Here in US upto 2013 Corolla it had the old 4 speed auto gear box with gear positions P - R - N - D - 3 - 2 -L. For me the new model available in SL looks good assuming it has a CVT gear box which could give better mileage some where close to the Axio (Just a guess). Some images to compare - Link from Toyota Lanka - http://www.toyota.lk/cars/corolla/photo-gallery/ Link from a Toyota dealer where i live - http://www.mountainstatestoyota.com/new/Toyota/2014-Toyota-Corolla-Denver-CO-7b6415310a0a0049315ffdd0803cd9f2.htm KMeeg.
  13. Hi Udararaj, When i had the Viva i tried many times contacting Perodua to find out what is the scanning protocol that they use but they did not help me (or rather ignored me). If any of you guys try to find it, it will be great for others. What i'm trying to tell is I use a cheapo OBD scanner which i use often to diagnose the car. I only spent around $10 from ebay to get it when i was in SL. It comes with a software CD which you can use with a windows pc with bluetooth connection or any Android phone with an app like 'Torque' (I hv put the link below). There are many useful features available with this little gadget. But unfortunately i was unable to use this for Viva even though it exactly fits to Viva data port which locates under the steering wheel. So if any of you could find a cheap unit which supports a Viva it would be great. Below is some info of what i have. You may need to find a similar cheap device for Viva. The device - http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELM327-A-V2-1-OBD2-OBDII-Bluetooth-Adapter-Auto-Scanner-TORQUE-ANDROID-/291137389580?hash=item43c924040c&item=291137389580&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr Here's what you can use this for - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque Hope this helps, KMeeg.
  14. Oh i'm sorry.. I just search the specs for 2007/2008 Toyota Corolla in US market and noticed that they are all 1.8L. I was thinking that all new Corolla's are coming with 1.8L DVVT engine except for JDM's. Extremely sorry guys for posting without searching properly..
  15. I'm not sure what is the procedure for Viva. But when i take a car (Not the Viva) for engine tune up to Mr Dhammika first thing he do is change spark plugs and clean other necessary parts and fix his equipment (some complected machine with lots of wires and meters) to the engine and start the tuning process. Once the process is done he gives a print-out of his tuning values. As an end user what you get is improved fuel efficiency, increase performance and a smooth engine. KMeeg.
  16. Sampath, I see that they do replacing stuff and cleaning stuff. But did they check or did any engine tuning? You know like they fix that timing machine (the one with a flickering light) and adjusting air and gas and adjust certain things. To check whether the engine is tuned to give maximum fuel economy and optimum performance, set proper idle rpm, etc... (Sorry i have no idea about the technical terms). Doesn't Unimo do those after replacing Air Filter, spark plugs, cleaning throttle-body, etc... ? KMeeg.
  17. But the problem is many engine tuning pro's do not take Viva for Engine tuning. Eg. We normally go to Mr Dhammika for engine tuning but he does not take Viva for tuning. Also to not that the OBD scanner which i had did not work for Viva (not sure about the new ones). I guess that could be a reason that engine tuning places are limited. (Please correct me if i'm wrong).. KMeeg.
  18. Talking about fuel consumption the 2014 Corolla is equipped with DVVT 1.8L & CVT transmission which claims 12.3 KM per liter (29mpg) in City and 16.1 KM per liter (38mpg) highway. So i believe this would go head to head with Axio. But i don't think the suspension is as comfortable as Axio or JDM vehicles. Also to note that 2014 Corolla has a version called LE ECO which claims 12.7 KM per liter (30mpg) in City and 17 KM per liter (40mpg) highway. Keep in mind this is not a hybrid version which has same DVVT 1.8L & CVT transmission. But the prices may be too high for 2014 Corolla compared to what you get out of it. I think should be worth to buy 2007/2008 Corolla with lesser price, low insurance (compared to Axio) but high fuel cost (compared to Axio) and may be a Axio would be better if you plan to use it daily is fuel is concerned. Kmeeg.
  19. its a Nikon D610 with Nikon 70-200 f2.8 vr2..
  20. 2013 Chevy Camaro - https://www.flickr.com/photos/kasunmeegahapola/sets/72157644287614686/ PS - Sorry i'm unable to share the individual pics from flickr as i'm getting an error 'You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community.' So please visit the album from above link. KMeeg..
  21. Adding more to this topic if anyone can contact Darin (who is a member of this forum) he would be the best person to ask for performance mods (The only person in SL i know).
  22. I had the same thought when the dealership told me that. Even they have model cold air intakes in the show room. I thought they tell this because its not that profitable for them to fix to a car which is already sold. But after i saw that article in K&N site i started to realize that it can be true. But i have no idea how and why. May be someone who has studies automobile might have an answer to this. What i was thinking was when we fix these kind of mods to a 'Variable valve timing' engine it would adapt / change timing according to the extra air getting in to the engine, so additional tuneup is not necessary. But after hear that 'check engine light' thing from dealership and the article in K&N site looks like it might not be a DIY job. Anyone studied automobile can give some input? Like what could possibly cause a check engine light to come with fixing a cold air intake? Would it be the same for other after market air intake systems?
  23. Nice shots Magnum.. I've never seen a Lotus Elise in real life.. Wish had a chance to test drive but i dnt see them in dealerships also.. Also what are those vans? Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey (Shape looks same) but have no clue what that badge is..
  24. Many use cold air intakes to increase the performance but i'm not sure its DIY job. Long story short - car dealerships don't fix cold air intakes any more saying that in some cases this cause to give check engine light. Check below article about check engine light, notice that it says 'A properly installed K&N product should not cause the Service Light to illuminate.'. So if you plan to use it better to be installed by a good technician. Also be the same when it comes to cleaning it. Link - http://www.knfilters.com/check_engine_light.htm
  25. If i'm not mistaken Marino & Ceres both are AE100 & AE101 right? (Please correct me if i'm wrong). Only the body is different from the Corolla right? And i believe when you have a good condition Corolla AE100 it brings more respect (Not sure whether i used the correct word). I see a very good condition Corolla AE100 where i live (in Denver, US) and i believe the owner is giving very good care for that car and pleasing to see it every day.. IMHO Corolla AE100 is one of the best Corolla's built. (including KE72's). If i had a chance to buy a genuine low mileage Corolla AE100 with good condition i would not think twice A classic i love very much.. <This is just my opinion and i can be very wrong..) Back to main question. Is their a reliable source where a customer can check the genuine millage and the facts about the car when you buy from a Japanese auction? Something like carfax.com where you give the vin number and check (depending upon ur membership)? (Sorry i have no idea about auctions)
