  1. Watched it in the cinema a couple of days back and I think it's still not the best movie in the series if you only take the story into consideration. Dom, O'Connor and the crew seem too much like superheroes who can endure anything. But it's a movie that should be watched. The last 10 minutes just kept me thinking about Walker's death for days. I was sitting close to a lady who kept crying out loud non stop throughout the last scenes. It's only natural that Walker's death had a strong impact on the cast and whoever linked to the production of the movie as well.
  2. It probably doesn't work for shortened links. (your above link is shortened - this is how YouTube works for the "Share" option). The full link should work. Maybe we can ask MADZ to fix this.
  3. Same for me. Simply editing the post and refreshing the page fixes it. Probably a bug.
  4. 1. Yes, the same principle applies to engine oil and change intervals for engine oils are shorter in SL compared to many other countries. 2. In countries like USA and Australia, you will not find people changing engine oils every 5000km or so. The average service interval ranges between 12,000 - 15,000km and this too changes depending on which state you live in. Hotter or colder, dusty or coastal states have an additional service between the service interval. Most parts of the States and Australia are far less hotter (and a lot less humid) than Sri Lanka, therefore the longevity of the oil is shorter in countries like ours. 3. The firs thing to note is that the transmission only takes a few minutes to reach operating temperature, therefore the damage remains insignificant unless the car is pushed too hard. Also, in such countries, people warm up their engines for a few minutes before moving off. The oil circulating through the radiator ensures that the oil is never too cold to a point that the transmission is affected. Your argument is sound (and valid), but my opinion is that the damage remains insignificant, hence the longevity is not affected for an average car.
  5. Nice! Love the sport front bumper, side skirts and spoiler. But you can't get away with just two photos.
  6. Well there you go. Thanks for the info. I guess the CVT oil change on mine was done on the agent's recommendation, because the mileage, oil and the cost matches what they gave you. Any kind of oil breaks down faster when used in hot conditions and even in humid conditions. Sri Lanka is both, so oil wears out sooner than it would in a cooler and less humid country. There are many other factors as well (like idling for too long and repeatedly driving very short distances).
  7. My father uses a 2008 Demio with CVT. Identical gearbox to Sameera's. @Sameera, I think you should call up C0l0nial and get their recommendation about the service interval. Fookie is right, the US owner's manual does not have any information about CVT oil change interval. The interval might be different for SL conditions and C0l0nial might have a good recommendation, despite this being a JDM.
  8. The car was on the classifieds site twice, and was only active for less than a day on both occurrences. My father is really happy with the car and is taking good care of her. And yes, you guys should share photos! EDIT: By the way, just noticed that the AC controls are different in aruna1's car.
  9. I don't think the service interval is that short. The history of the Demio I got has a CVT oil change done at 40,000km with a bill of 26,000 from C0l0nial. I'm pretty sure my father told me that the interval is 40,000km. He also told me that the agent only recommends the Mazda genuine CVT oil only they import. Not really sure if there are others who get it down as well.
  10. Thanks fookie! I know that it has automatic headlights where they come on when it's dark, but not really sure about auto levelling. I'll ask my father and get back to you on that. I guess you mean the indicator with the headlight symbol with two arrows pointing up and down from the beam? If your headlights have auto levelling, you will see an additional set of wires running into the headlight housing apart from the high, low, turn indicator and park indicator lines. If yours has the indicator and it goes off with the other indicators, you probably have auto levelling headlamps and the system is working fine. Try switching on the headlamps while the car is stopped on a slope (facing uphill). You will see the beam adjusting itself for a brief moment of time. This is better done at night.
  11. He probably got it at a lower price due to the friendship with the registered owner. But it was sold at the same price it was advertised at by the first owner, so I didn't mind. Honestly, I was very skeptical at first, but my dad ensured that it's a legitimate deal.
  12. Most Mazda2s I see in Australia are manuals. And all of them are 1.5L. Remember the car that was in Kotte? This is that car! Long story short: The owner gave it to a friend who was planning on giving the car on rent, circumstances changed for him and he decided to sell the car. Coincidentally, the guy was a lawyer too.
  13. Here you go.

    Clutch System

Good question. In one word, the answer to your question is: Friction. The friction material used to manufacture a clutch has a very high coefficient of friction, which doesn't allow it to slip that easily. The pressure plate secures the clutch against the flywheel and itself, so that the clutch does not slip. As long as the surface of the clutch has enough meat (to grab on to both the pressure plate and the flywheel), and as long as the pressure plate is applying the required amount of force on the clutch, it will not slip.
  15. Fix it pens are usually for clear coat scratches. So if the scratch is deep that it has reached the base coat, primer or the sheet metal itself, then the pen will not work. In such cases you'll need a scratch repair kit which usually consists of the base and clear coat in bottles with an application brush. Some come as pens also I guess.

    Car Engin Scan Test

I give up... this guy just doesn't get it.
  17. What more advice do you need? The link I shared above has figures for the Elantra. And if you really did some reading up on the forum, you would find more info. Here's another one: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/13698-what-would-be-the-best/?p=207583
  18. The second trailer for Terminator Genisys is out and it's just jaw dropping! This is the movie to wait for this year for me, being the Terminator freak I am. Have a look:

  20. From OP's explanation (temperature coming back to normal when driving fast), it does sound like the fans are not doing their job properly. Usually, dual speed fans have a fan control module (especially when there are multiple fans). The module controls the fans simultaneously at low or high speeds. In this case, the fan motors will still have only two wires going into them. So it might be an issue with this control module as well, because the speed control module is what detects the temperature and engages the fans. If the fan motors only have two wires, you can directly hook them up to the battery and check if it works. It should basically spin really fast. If you decide to check this yourself, be careful not to get in the way of the blades.
  21. You should probably edit your post and remove the link. Providing links to other classifieds sites is not allowed. As for the ad, maybe the seller has a financial difficulty or something. Exchange will obviously happen with a car + cash to compensate for the balance. Don't worry about it. If your AC starts acting abnormal, have it checked out.
  22. Happy new year! I was concerned about this myself. Basically the compressor seemed to go on and off too soon. Spoke to a couple of AC workshops and they said it was normal. I changed my compressor (due to the old one failing) and the behaviour was exactly the same with the new one.
  23. Will do. Right now I can only give a month - December. Will confirm the dates as soon as I make arrangements.
  24. Everyone is welcome to join. Feels like we're planning too well in advance, because it will definitely be towards the end of the year when I'll be coming home. We should all meet up at the next get together which will hopefully be held when I'm around. If that doesn't seem realistic, then I'll keep you guys posted about when I plan to come. Looks like a lot of Lancer owners on the forum know each other. Actually surprised.
  25. For sure! We won't say no to the three diamonds. Wish you the same!
