Hi Guys, Came early in the morning and broke the news to my colleagues and got all worried... A relative of one is working for the C** and got some more info. Situation is much worse. Yesterday itself they have received over 1000 complaints. C** has purchased a low quality stock of fuel at a lower cost. Issue is there with directly imported petrol. Not with locally refined fuel. And a certain percentage of petrol issued by I*C is directly imported from their motherland which is also not affected. That’s why the issue is occurring in random locations. Apparently the QA guys have tested samples before the purchase and advised not to buy the aforesaid stock. Despite this the C** officials have gone ahead with the purchase and the bad petrol had been in storage for months now. They must have started releasing it to retail channels recently. I know for sure that C** will keep on denying that there is a crisis. What my friend’s relative told was that this is primarily related to octane 90. However due to the panic the demand for 95 has gone up so high, 90 may be pumped in certain stations as 95. So I'm afraid a particular fuel retailor or a brand / grade of fuel cannot be recommended as trouble free, for the moment. And now that the news is out, C** will probably stop releasing the low quality petrol, at least for now. But since there's an immense stock left, they are likely to release this to the market may be at random or mixed with good fuel in the time to come. Why did we ever get born in this country...

E.g.: 1 There's an indian "Sports" bike ad running in Star World, in which the Japanese people jump up and say "Unbelievable" (in japanese) after reading some news articles. Fact in the news is that this indian "Sports" bike is selling 5 times more than its japanese counterparts in india. The real fact is... what's actually preventing these indians from buying a CBR is not the Indian bikes superiority, but the price difference... E.g.: 2 Just Watch and judge...

Also I have been seing about 2 2nd Generation Prius Cars and 1 black 3rd Gen in the Jaic Hilton Car Park (Residents Area) from way early last year obviously way before the new tax took effect. Paying about 300k in rent every month, I guess they are not the kind of people who'd worry about economy. Parked among a royce, a couple of boxters, 370z, 350z and many other expensive rides, these cars could either be a high-class fashion statement or owned by a few real tree huggers...

Now close your eyes and imagine how it may be looking from behind... That bendy back window and over designed tail lamps... Now put the pistol down or TG will not have enough time to bring one up at the farm by june...

Hi Selvanath, For a small SUV with a 1500cc engine, Terios has a decent pulling power (not for heavy off roading or similar power hungry activities though). Probably as a result I can't say its fuel consumption is all that good which could impact on the resale specially in the Sri Lankan context. So if its just re-sale value you are after, Yaris will be a better choice. Lower in Fuel consumption and IT'S A TOYOTA... What more a Sri Lankan buyer want... So resale would be good. Hi Car Lover, How many Kms have you done after the last ATF Change? Did you check the ATF color? Has it darkened a bit? Also is the ATF level correct? I had the same problem once, and found out this is due to some service guy filling up ATF over the recommended limit. Once I pumped out a bit of Oil, shifting became smooth. However I had the issue all along, not just in mornings till the tranny got heated up. I don't know what you mean by the OD ON light blinking. Do you drive with OD On? or how is it indicated in the Blue bird? Cheers, K9M

Thats a previous generation ML55, a white one ryt? One of my friends has seen the new ML 55 AMG in Jaic Hilton car park, spoken to the chauffer only to hear that "Mahththaya" had paid "koti 10 ta wada" (implying over 10M) to bring it down. Don't know to which degree that this is true...

Feel the same way... thats the only issue I have... Not bothered about the Prius. Heard CRZ has 122BHP. I know that its not much. But in for most of (less-fortunate)us in SL terms 120 -130 BHP on a car with a curb weight around 1100KG is a car with a fair punch.

Dude, even though I couldn't care less about this thread, have to mention that petrol heads are not the kind of people who just appreciate the engineering aspects of the cars and talk about how cool modern technology is... There are other terms to describe this type of people...

Hi Gobi, Honestly I don't have much of an idea on the current market value of a K11. However, personally I wouldn't pay anything over 1.2M even of the car is in show room condition. Other thing that appears to be suspicious is the Mileage. 50k for a 10 year old car is a bit unrealistic. Fairly certain that it would have undergone a mileage trim at the import process if its not been bought brand new, So don't bother checking that. What you may want to be aware is whether it has gone through another cut by a local chap. So try to verify that with the maintenance history etc. There is a lot of new car buying tips discussed in the forum so you might wanna do a search and try a few things before you confirm on this car. Getting to know the owners driving style, usage patterns is one quire important thing. Since you say "Mint Condition" just ensure thats not limited to the outer appearance and runs deep thru the mechanics as well. As for the fuel economy 11 is quite normal in city if the car is with a manual transmission. If it's an automatic probably the owner is not being honest. I closely know 2 of these cars, both automatic, well maintained, does 8.5 - 9 km\l only. Wishes for you to make a wise decision... Cheers, K9M

What do you guys think about the Chris Bangle styling and designs? (I know this has been discussed in length so adding) And now that he's out of it how it's now particularly with the F2 and F10 I personally don't like the 5 Series (E60) but love the F10. (E39 is my favorite though) Out of CB designs I have say that I love the 6 Seriies.
