  1. Small diesel vehicles were cheaper in day-to-day run before the diesel price hike , still it has a comparatively frequent and expensive service cost. I have a small diesel van, 8 seater, other than the higher pasenger capacity , now there is no extra financial benefit. With air conditioning turned on, it costs almost same as a petrol car per kilometer in the city.
  2. "i love bikes and do not want to get a 250cc as many of them are too old and in bad condition" ??Living under a rock or a in a deep well ?
  3. Some more info here about hornet from SL http://www.elakiri.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1075104&page=5)
  4. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_the_honda_hornet_Sensor_carb This says its about a heater in the carb, which i dont believe! I agree with Ripper here.
  5. Right on the spot! OP: if you are so worried about re-sale value : get a Japanese bike. and also learn to care about others and forum rules. There is so much you can learn about autos and people.
  6. Raleigh?
  7. Ride comfort : OK, but not super! pillion rider may hate for ever, you if you take a bad road! Im talking about the very first Hunk. Maintenance : Service each 3000km , full service with lubrication may cost around 1500.00 Fuel : Out station 40-45 Km per liter if you can ride it softly, no hard acceleration etc, on traffic : dont know. Hunk engines parts are mostly Japanese, so it will go longer than any other Indian bike, I had one and it did 45000kms without any failure or breakdown till i sold it. But I took care of it very well, it was like brand new when sold after 3 years. Sprockets n chain lasts about 14000kms, in my opinion, its a good indian bike with a very stupid name Checkout Yamaha FZ range too. but I dont think any of this comes near to GN or a CM in anyway.

  10. Thanks for your views again Sylvi, I now think my stand about idling with AC has no any solid evidence to say it harms an engine. About the link I posted above which is not that relevant to this topic, it says how bad is idling the engines, but even my dad has a different view , he keeps the diesel van in idle for 5-10 in every morning before pulling out to get it warmed up and never stops the engine casual stops along the road( 10 mins shopping etc). What do you think about that? Is there any real advantage by warming up the engine in the idle in the morning ?
  11. Sylvi, thanks for your post. and I found some people are very serious about the idling a car http://www.thehcf.org/antiidlingprimer.html
  12. I think, idling for long time surely puts stress the cooling system as natural flow of air is not available as if it was when moving. And idling while AC compressor is engaged and ac fan / blower unit consuming lot of power should be putting stress on the electrical system too ,because less electricity is generated and lot consumed. in that sense , idling while AC turned on is bad for engine.
  13. I dont know if it is designed to be like that, but its true that on long runs vanette/serena engine keeps relatively cool . May be because the good airflow. On the other hand when its moving on slow traffic or stationary , the temp starts to go up quickly , specially with AC turned on! In my van I have fitted an additional fan to the radiator to control this situation. The main reason I said vanettes better keep off express ways is its weak thin metal body. and its lighter rear has very little traction. So an emergency braking will result in skidding.
  14. Thanks Miniace, and yes the Vanette has every disadvantage that it is better not be on E01. BTW You got one nice job
  15. Anyone seen any Nissan Vanette vans running the E01 ? Not that I have plans to take mine on E01
  16. +1 Amen!
  17. Best thing we can hope is it to be a vehicle used to build the E01, now being taken away to else where.
  18. scary! hope they don't allow these "Magamaruwa travels" enter the highway
  19. cool , I need to work on the drive train n brakes too, both disks worn beyond service limit , I hope I can find replacement parts in breaker joints !
  20. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_kw=lancer&_kw=AC&_kw=vent See if you can find your stuff here
  21. Cool, I might need new Sprocket n chain soon too , busted a rear sprocket pin out, may be the old sprocket cant bear my wheelies attempts anymore lol DID gold link chain with Japanese sprockets may cost 10k-12k here. ( i thought 6-7k , just found im wrong there) How much did you spent on them ? and too bad you are selling the bike, well, we cant keep them for ever , can we ?
  22. Cool, this is something we all like to hear! imagine highways linking whole country like this, life in Sri Lanka will never be the same.
  23. Let me know if you need the electrical diagram for ax-1, actually I have the full NX250 manual which is 95% compatible to AX-1. cheers
  24. Thanks Biker boy, I think I'm going to rip it myself and take whats necessary for painting, as you said correctly , that's the only way to get to know the bike completely. and starting on 1st gear is so hard with the AX-1 ! believe me
