  1. Righty-ho so this is a Genesis GV80 (my cue was refering the first sentence in the bible -the book of genesis.)
  2. I've been searching if the P10A6 on the City also has the same... I mean I'd expect it to but I could not find a source to verify.
  3. I'm yet to be in a City RS. But it looks a bit roomier inside. The Raize is rather spartan in that aspect. While I have not done any analysis into it yet the City specs suggest it's basically the FK6 civic's successor*. Different engine but it sounds like it's quite similar - not sure if it does have the wet belt though. Raize might not have the mechanical concerns related to that. What puts me off from the Raize is it's just quite tiny *this does not mean the new city did not replace the old city. But the RS variant has a strong Civic tenth gen vibe to it just like the 3rd Gen City Sedan was screaming 'I'm related to the Civic EF YO!'
  4. Back to automotive monogamy. Said good bye to the Y11.

@matroska Daily runner, yes, but the daily run itself is <15km lol. Couldn't hit the 5000km mark last year! That's less than 2500kms for 6 months.

All the more reason to keep changing oil every 6 months I guess. They say short drives make your oil degrade quicker.

Yeah I think the 6 month interval suits your usage. Mine has the maintenance minder.

On the topic of mileage , I had hit 50,000 Km last weekend (took me 6 years and 5 months). Did a hectic 400 Km ish run on Saturday spanning 3 of the 4 expressways [E04-E02-E01 and back] and somewhere along that route I had passed 50,000 without realizing it.

@matroska yep mine's too closer to 50K than 100K despite being 10 years old, I used to run Valvoline conventional 10W30 (recommended by Unit#d Mot#rs) - but starting from the 20th oil change I've decided to go for Liqui Moly synthetic 5W30.

The price difference per 4L is less than 5K so I thought why not.

  5. In the beginning when god created the heavens and earth..
  6. spot on! The older Hyundais are gradually becoming rare sightings..
  7. Hi Guys! Sorry been away for the aurudu holidays. Here's the next one.
  8. I have not spotted one at all in SL. Ok I'm going to type out the answer. This is a VW Scirocco
  9. 1. Yes. Step 1: Inform RMV that you need to change the engine and get a letter of approval. (Visit Werahera) Step 2: Make sure you have an invoice for the new/recon engine you are getting, clearly mentioning the engine number. Step 3: Once the engine swap is done take the car to Werahera and get it weighed. Other elements of the car is inspected, some inspectors will fail you even if a light is not working. Your wheel size etc has to be the same as in the CR. Most of the time unless you grease the palms of the inspector, they will find a reason to fail you. Some may not. It's all down to luck I guess. Step 4: IF all is order , they will update your CR with the new engine number - of course there is no 'one-day service' for this, currently it might take upto 3 months for you to get the updated CR. 2. Most of the time you won't. Emissions testing people will generally not care, they check only for the VIN number and not the engine number. When reselling the car, the potential buyer might be vary of this. If the next owner is going for a lease/finance SOME leasing companies check this, while some will turn a blind eye. I know at least one company that instructed the seller to stamp the old engine number on the new one (this is illegal btw) in order for them to proceed with the lease. If there is some legal matter such as an accident, if insurance is involved etc then it might be a problem. 3. You can replace your engine within 500CC difference of a capacity, given that it's from the same maker. You can swap a 1.3L engine with a 1.8L but not with anything bigger. 4. You mean mechanics? Well there are a few places that do engine swaps you need to ask around a bit on the forums and FB groups usually. But my question is why? I can understand swapping the engine on a 40 year old car, but a Yaris/141 from 15-20 years ago? These engines can take a lot of abuse. Unless you really want to burn some money and do a swap for performance improvements etc I'd suggest you stay away from them. 200,000 is nothing for these engines. They can be repaired. If you want to do an engine swap for the fun of it, do something like a 7K swap on an old European car or something like a KE20, B210 etc.
  10. WDY mean you're out? Trivia without Gummy is like colombo without kottu
  11. Been there! I see an obscure car somewhere, take a pic , plan to lay out a series of clues ...but within hours gummy and iRage crack it. Honestly though, I would not have thought of this if I hadn't watched the Late Brake show the day before. I'm sure that's where you got the idea as well.
  12. I think as soon as he saw that video he posted this ... if not for that episode I'd not have guessed this was from THAT manufacturer . I guess we never had one of these in SL. But I think @iRage was the first to crack this. So he should confirm the answer and take his turn
  13. Whaaaat! I did NOT know this some things are starting to make sense.
  14. Beautiful thing. I'd have loved to at least REVERSE a 406. That tail lamp is off though. I did not know the car in question existed in Sri Lanka .Quite rare globally isn't it?
  15. it makes sense doesn't it? The car in question reflects a bit of a German brands design language. It's a beautiful car I must say. This collaboration happened during the heyday of the Japanese brand - when they were arguably the flag bearer of the Japanese automotive industry.
  16. It is. The TPMS on the model, at least in my experience is quite paranoid and triggers a warning at the slightest difference of pressure in one tyre. The ONLY time it failed me was, understandably on one occasion when all four tyres had an equal drop in pressure.
  17. That's kind of true for all the Geely's - the MX7's and to a lesser extent the Pandas.
  18. Ridiculous by SL standards
  19. Ended up with a Y11 AD wagon for the workhorse assignments. Sadly it's time to let the starlet go...

      Goodbye and welcome!

  20. Carina GT will be easiest to source ... a few neat specimens were around in the car groups. Starlet GT - most of em are converts, that too not properly done. There was a 2001 XP13 up for sale recently , the owner was asking close to 5M for that which to me seemed ridiculous.
  21. IIRC FD's were around 4M even as late as 2018. FD1 all the way but good ones are like gold dust. Keep the FD4 as backup. Nothing bad with the FD3 but keep in mind potential battery replacements etc.
  22. well this is news that this exists in SL! Pretty soon we are going to lose track of all the Chinese EV's that are there. @Duan27 - can you confirm this answer as correct?
  23. "It is my humble belief that Japanese automakers may have perfected their craft in the late 90s." amen to that my good sir!
  24. This is very true. Few years back I managed to source an EP71 in a very remote farm. Inspected the car with the owner - his asking price was also low even considering the car needed a paint job- and yet I offered him a lower amount to which the guy agreed. Dude went inside the house to fetch some papers, and returned saying ' Denne na mahattaya, gedara kattiya kamathi na wahane denawata' I wanted to respond 'ehenam #$@$@$ da @$@$@ Ad ekak damme' but I had already wasted enough time so I headed back.
  25. argh! could be ideally music related or a boat. Since I missed my shot I'll skip the answer let's wait for someone else to pick the clues and answer...
