    Fuel Tank Repairs

if its a leak then i have had it done in the past and its a tricky process and a bit dangerous too due to the fumes in the tank even when empty, you need to rinse it several times before you can bring the welding torch near it many garages are wary of doing it though but if ur refering to repairing the float in the tank then thats easy to replace
  3. im not a fan of the Mulitpla GTAm but wish you well in your search!
  4. Well done and this once again proves the value of the AL forum
  5. nope if new members cannot create posts then the whole point of a forum is lost mate, you might as next start a membership fee for everyone to post next! as far as i know all automotive posts allow members to create new threads ,there are of course exclusive auto forums where you need to pay and be a member
  6. on a similar note i want to get down a windscreen washer bottle and tubing which is very cheap on ebay,if i get someone in uk to post it to me will it be an issue,do SL post open parcels and ask for Tax to be paid its a small box like the size of a small shoe box
  7. PM Sumiya on AL who is a great Datsun fan and is restoring one at the moment
  8. Rameez the high tension wires/leads are not that expensive for this car, also the distributore cap when i bought last was around 1250 if im not mistaken (Unit#d Mot#rs stuff) other brands much cheaper
  9. yes i thought as much there is no need to publish photos and if we use common sense, obey the law/road rules, have a roadworthy vehicles then we can reduce them (accidents) drastically)
  10. cheap and good dont go together You can try David Todd at Kohuwela he used to be very good at repairs ,he is a well known racing driver and automobile engineer
  11. so far he has done a good job on them GTAm
  12. Rameez there is a guy in Kirullapone somewhere opposite seibel avenue who does a very good job on speedo meters i have got things done by him ,i think when u travel from nugegoda towards colombo its on the left side and you can see the board too @ Dingy, you can buy the cable from Nilanka motors in dehwiela or Wellawatte,Pubudu in Galkissa or Hemantha motors in Maradana
  13. only once i went there to get the tints done but what i did was go by bus spoke to a few shops agreed on the price for the car and the tint and then took the car ,the fellows in overalls tried their best to get me to come their way but was firm in saying NO and went to the shop whic i had already agreed ,that was because i have been warned by people on dealing with the darley road, panchikawatte chaps before but even then as far as possible i wont go there by car as its a real hassle with all those touts and brokers it did remind me of world market in pettah those days
  14. its tough getting a good tinkerer Renault 4 is a real rust bucket but fn to drive how long have you had this car for? do you still get parts for it here?
  15. do you think they will have carburettors for the Lancer 4G11 engines (orion) if so please can you let me have their tel nos
  16. wow they still sell brand new parts for this in Japan thats amazing!
  17. Davy did you have a very stiff steering too i noticed that apart from the play the steering is quite stiff esp on one side compared to how it was few years back, could it be the worn out wheels and does it warrant a box replacment?
  18. is your car a tube light model? if so lights are a bit tricky to buy but you can get a cover made but please do check both the 'wattes' in panchikawatte they are bound to have fingers crossed! please post a pic of your car for engine parts try Hemantha motors and Colombo motors and many other parts can be bought from Pubudu in Moult Lavinia,Nilanka in Dehiwela or Wellawatte and another joint in Ratmalana
  19. There was a place called 'Autolite' in Panchikawatte which was kind of opposite to Hemanth motors and a few other light repair shops the names of which i cant remember now another option would be the pavment guys who repair lights i got few jobs done by them to the rear tail lights and it came quite good whats the problem with ur friends Tredia is the headlight broken as well or just the reflector a few Govt depts too had bought Tredias those days when it was introduced if im not mistaken
  20. Not many were sold in SL as Tredias were not that popular compared to the Lancers of that era like the C12 and C11 but its a highly underestimated car ,it even had an econo gear and had power steering too I guess the only option would be the 'watte' in panchikawatte or try the usual spare parts shops and they might point him to the right place
  21. @ Sylvi,do they still sell these new parts for Morris Minors? i do remember seeing new badges for Minors few years back in Panchikawatte though
  22. by Gods mercy you guys were safe and as Davy mentioned if it was in certain part oft the world within a month or two it would be back on the road and might even be advertised as 'a profesional owned mint condiotion vehicle for sale, come early to avoid dissapointment!' or something to that effect
