  1. Rameez tinkering and painting are not the same i have a good tinker but not a painter (im yet to find a good painter) the last time i did a full paint job the painter had used low quality paste and now its bubbling in many places
  2. as they say there is a silver lining in every cloud and yours was the SL economy downturn mate ;-)) please document the progress like Sumiya and Master Don with pics and update us as well dude!
  3. Rameez if someone boasts of a '1 day tinekring job' stay away from them as in many cases tinkering involves a lot of skill and is time consuming especially in older cars where the rot has set in,if its just surface rust then 1 day day jobs are somewhat possible most fellows use a liberal dose of 'paste' and cover up and say tinkering is over and the reality is that after few months it will come up even worser than before!
  4. machan with this config your would be drinking a lot of fuel right?
  5. @ Magnum, are you refering to C12A GLX is that what you have? did it come with power shutters? a picture of it would be great
  6. what has jackson anthony done now?
  7. @ Master Don its so nice to see you restore in authentically mate well done!
  8. good luck dude ,it is quite an ambitious project i must admit but im sure you can do it where do you get parts for this? i assume you cant buy any in SL As someone pointed out AL has indeed become alive these days with restorations !
  9. i have seen a 2 door lancer some years back maybe in 1999-2000 period it was a green colored one,it was the flat light model not sure if its a 1973 manufactured one though good to see so many people being interested in the 1st Gen Lancers (L Light,I light, flat light and tube light!)
  10. Sumiya roughly when will you be finishing the project on ur 1974 Sunny? have you decided on a color for it? and will you be fixing an A/C? I have seen very few of these cars with A/C,not sure if they were fixed later or factory fitted ones?
  11. Like others have mentioned my take on this is that its not worth the risk imagine you take a loan and buy the car and some relative of the sellers tips of the relevant dept and your car gets seized, which is a hassle and you have to go to courts and all that and on top of it you have to pay the loan installments monthly even though ur car is impounded and will affect your quality of life big time! my personal advice is get a loan and buy car that you can afford to even if its a an older car like the Mitsubishi CB series lancers or the Trad Sunny's and believe me you will have peace of mind Just getting a brand new car for the sake of it is not worth it mate
  12. what cars do you drive back home in the UK mate as for taking cars out of SL , I dont think it will be possible as others have mentioned
  13. congrats mate where did you go? was it with AC? any pics that you want to share of the roads and the car?
  14. by any chance does anyone have the link to the service manual for the 1977/78 lancer and also for the Lancer GLX (4G15) 85 model
  15. This is really bad and it does happen in other countries as well once saw a UK documentary where they fixed hidden cams and gave cars to cowboy mechanics to repair and they purposely replaced more parts than needed and messed up big time in some other cases we should name and shame these places so that they will improve their service
  16. ah good luck Sumiya on ur journey do let us know how the B310 faired its always a pleasure to hear from other old jap classic car enthusiasts !
  17. Hats off to you mate and ur dad too I learnt driving in the same model too (saloon version) superb car did urs have a/c ?
  18. how about re-cond car sellers are they also going to be charded a high deposit like these? are we headed like the 70's era where cars were super super luxuary items ......... i hope not!
  19. whats the cost of this car? personally i wont buy a relatively newer car made in 1992 and restore unless it was dirt cheap, prefer to buy one thats running!
  20. moral of this thread : get down from your car and watch them fill the tank and keep your eyes on the petrol filling pump till its done!
  21. @ Fatjoe could it be a the old Fiat Mulitpla that your family had it too had the so called 'suicide doors' also can the OP get spares in Colombo for a fiat 500 ro 600 engine rebuild?
