  1. Letter of credit means , simply buyer's bank and seller's bank do the transaction on behalf of buyer and seller respectively, when they are far away. This is the safest way to do such imports/exports.
  2. Eureka !!! Eureka !!! After waiting for months, found the correct heart from UK..... low mileage Volvo 1.9 Turbo Diesel T3 Engine pulled from a V40 A big thank to our moderator The Don , whom spent hours on this matter and helped me to find the correct engine. So T3 engine + gear box(M/T) and some other components are on the way. Thanks maersk & matroska for the information about VOLMEC. Already discussed with them and waiting for the goods and will decide future steps. More details....later. (Wish to convert this thread in to a restoration thread soon.)
  3. Warranty : 3 Years Or 100,000 KM Regarding safety rating difference between two origins of same model : "Nangi pennla akka denawada?"
  4. According to the agent, engine + gear box + some components from Korea and assembled in India. They import only 1.0L versions for Sri Lankan market (Not 1.2L versions). Below is the brouchre they sent me with quotation by email.
  5. Update: Seems Perodua still keep trying to improve caliper pin design . Replaced caliper pins for the second time at mileage 71,000km. At the beginning caliper pin design was with 2 ‘O’ rings , then no “O” rings and now with 3 “O” rings. New caliper pin set cost me Rs.8,300/= . (Unit#d Mot#rs) However second design (no “O” rings) worked me well for better mileage than 1st design did.
  6. Today I enjoyed a lube service at free of cost (both labour and material), offered by Unit#d Mot#rs, Orugodawatta. (Under 5 to 1 Lube Service Rewards: After five consecutive lube services, sixth service is totally free of cost) They offered me a voucher last year and I had five consecutive lube services with the voucher. 45000km,50000km,55000km,60000km & 65000km & today 70000km service (6th service) was totally free of cost which is valued Rs. 7857/=. Also Unit#d Mot#rs issued me a new voucher today. If you do regular service at Unit#d Mot#rs, please obtain your ‘5 to 1 Lube Service Rewards voucher’ from them. (Disclaimer: This post is just to make aware the members and not for any means of promoting Unit#d Mot#rs. Also please note that there were some terms and conditions.Mods, if this post violate any forum rules , please delete it. )
  7. As far as I know Semini Motors is the agent for VIC.
  8. 50km is not enough to check fuel economy. At least drive over 200km . Then test. Then repeat test for at least 2 -3 times. Then only you can have average fuel economy.
  9. From where did you copy and paste this segment? In which department of D*MO you are working in? How do you say Tata Safari Storme has become the favorite in the Srilanka? How many units can you see within day when you travel in Colombo? Go and check what happen to dashboards of Tata Indica? We had one Tata Indica bought in brand new in 2005. After few years dash board started to peel off (this was common with Tata Indicas). So D*MO used to collect such dashboards and issue cleaned one at Rs.3000/= those days. Stop doing garilla marketing here.
  10. Other than this, I have seen a red colour Prius with diesel number plates. Those number plates were genuine , but don't know they were taken from some other vehicle or not.
  11. Two months back I took my car to Unit#d Mot#rs for brake pad replacement and there was a Toyota RAV4 in next bay came for a mechanical repair. I was thinking why a Toyota is here and had a close look on engine bay and tags. It was a Chinese vehicle with physical appearance is almost RAV4 and owner had replaced Chinese Logos with Toyota Logos and badges and it perfectly fit in the logo /badge cavities.
  12. 05 years and 67,000km passed... Repainted bumpers , center wheel caps and first cut and polish job done...
  13. I have seen Janatha Motors had them. Tel: 071-3190234. Much appreciate if you can use existing "Viva Elite Community" thread for small matters, rather than open a new thread.
  14. Cockroach is an insect prefer dark environment always. That is why they appear in the night well. Since you are reluctant to use chemicals, make the environment unhappy to Cockroach. (1) In the night, light a lamp/s inside and surrounding area of the car for few days. It will make uncomfortable to cockroaches and they may tend to leave. (When I design my pantry cupboards, for wall mounted upper cupboards, I used glass panels for top. (It cannot observed from front side). So inside cupboards are rich with light. Cockroach never enter in to that cupboards. Now I am going to install some glass boxes for lower pantry cupboards as well) (2) Park the vehicle in different places for different nights. They may survive with the outside food and back to vehicle in the night. How about their population? Do you get everyday or rarely?
  15. Check with member Trinity.
  16. Mine also just passed 65,000km and I replaced all 3 belts around 55,000km at Unted Motors. They used genuine belts came with Perodua packing, and brand name printed on the belts were "Mitsuboshi" and "Bando"". No sounds and all three belts are running smoothly.
  17. Below is an another similar idiot. Few days ago, he wanted sudden access to my lane (left lane to right lane and I was on right lane) and suddenly shifted the lane. Fortunately I could stop my vehicle immidietly and narrowly escaped my car getting crash with his trailer.
  18. Thanks for sharing Crosswind. When I see this "Sayuri" , I realized it is not designed here and it is assembled here. It is not easy to design and make a prototype in good shape here. Look at simply, how many plastics parts are around it and can someone think the cost of a mould for making a single plastic item.
  19. You mean Corolla 120 series? Many. I used brand-new diesel 120 series (commonly called 121 diesel) car as my wedding car, 10 years ago. Most of the corolla models which are imported under agents (export model) has Toyota logo (T) on the shell. JDM version has Corolla logo © on shell.
  20. For me it seems like normal "U" hooked wiper arm. If you can show us other side of the connection much better.
  21. Vespa Sprint Veloce - 1969 Recently bought for my son, from Kids Unlimited,Kohuwala
  22. If so , I wish to get some other parts also from UK. What do you think about conversion to A/T with Volvo pars? Since even engine number is messed up by Volvo, we have to be assure the exact engine code. That S40 diesel model has different engine series T2, T3,T4 etc... http://www.partinfo.co.uk/files/TB17.pdf According to this engine model is T3.
  23. Thanks guys. So Don is helping me to sort out this problem and hope find a good engine from UK. Had a long discussion with Don little while ago. First of all we had to sorted out the engine number code. In this car all documents including shipping documents engine code starts with "B". But it should be "D". According to the wiki. (B for Bensin (petrol/gasoline engines) or D for diesel engines for Volvo engine codes) . So physically it it should be "D" and the mistake done by Volvo at the beginning. And this engine is made by Renault. Correct engine code should be D4192T. Few things still to clarify. And thanks Don for your kind support.
  24. Almost 4 years passed after I opened this thread. We wanted to stay her with Volvo Engine but no positive end can be seen. Car is idle in the garage over an one year period. We tried for a used Volvo engine but that is also not seems happy and also we don't have any reliability on that engine model as already two units of engine wasted our time and money. Also maintain this Volvo engine is not very easy, special technical people, special technical places, and special technical tools and cost also not worth. My uncle has different mind on this car than what others think on it. He has only sentimental value on this vehicle. He doesn't think about second hand value of the car. (Also it is no point for thinking on second hand value of Volvo car market here as value is lower than used Maruti Alto.)My uncle has a brand new diesel Hyndai Santafe and brand new Nissan Bluebird Sylphy at home other than this. But he want his old pride ride back. This Volvo engine type is a cancer for years (This is common failure of late S40 diesels of this model here). So we don't worry on removing a body part and save a life. Hence we decided to install a Japanese engine and convert it to auto transmission. It may be a do or die decision, but my uncle wish to spend few hundred thousand rupees than keeping her idle inside the garage for years. Also my uncle does not wish to sell the car to some other person with such troublesome engine and make the buyer in difficulty. So, guys please forget about secondhand values and other points against conversion, but please help me make success this project as much as possible. We wish to install complete set of Japanese engine with automatic transmission system. I have few questions to be sorted out and I am gathering information now. (1) My mechanic suggest Toyota 2C turbo engine or 3C engine. And he requested about two months period for the job as many small things need to carry out. I have seen similar project done with a 2C engine and it was for sale on Autolanka few years back. Originally it is like this.(This is not our car but similar one) Well known Volvo technician spoke to us and they recently installed a 3C engine to a Jaguar. What are the advantages over 3C engine over 2C engine? (2) When selecting another brand engine model, what are the criteria we should check/think? (3) What are the possible common problems/failures may appear later (if someone has any previous experience) So experts looking for your comments.
  25. Happy B'Day Trinity. (If you like to celebrate, I would like to cross the road and visit next building)
