  1. Additionally to glass panels & PC, I have seen some glass roofing tiles (size and shape exactly same with normal clay tile/"rata ulu") on old buildings. My grand parents residence also had same and was much nicer. Light intensity also reduced due to curving stricture. But may be expensive and not suit for matroska's requirement.
  2. Polycarbonate is a kind of plastic (PC is a thermoplastic polymer) and it is the same plastic type use for making CDs/DVDs.. Loss of transparency is very common when expose to UV radiations for a longer period (@ Outdoor applications). At the production of polycarbonate sheets , UV stabilizers are added. But time being UV stabilizers on the product react with UV rays and get finish & reach to end of their life time and then haze appearance comes. This is very common. Not only polycabonate , other plastics like ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) use for car dashboard trims also contains UV stabilizers. Time being UV stabilizer shelf life gets over and plastic surface starts to decay by making cracks. We generally say plastics don't decay easily, but there is a big role behind adding UV stabilizers. For plastic water tanks made by LLDPE (Linear Low Density Polyethylene) need required amount of UV stabilizers for at least 10 years, which protect the item at least 10 years until manufacturer's warranty period expires.
  3. Respect your parents thoughts same as iRage mentioned there and situation is more clear now. What I felt earlier was you are trying for a car without stable income for you. My apologies. I am much reluctant for loans. Within your budget, when you go for newer vehicle more possibilities are hatchbacks, non-Japanese vehicles. For sedans you have to go for some older models. Additionally to Proton Wira, just check the possibilities of Hyundai (Korean) cars which are not bad and probably you may find a comparatively newer one. My sister also changed her first instructor due to abnormal lesson for clutch pedal. (wedipura kakula pegeema)
  4. Congrats & welcome to the forum !!! I may repeat the same idea given by other members. (1) First learn how to dive properly and safely. Go for good Lerner. (2) For your busy sister, please help her by arranging a driving instructor whom does visit home and take individual lessons. Sometimes they bring their vehicle to your door step or after you buy your vehicle she can use your vehicle. There are many instructors(even lady instructors) appear on Sunday News papers and select any suitable polite instructor. (3) Minimize going for loans. Buy a vehicle affordable at this instance. Even old Corolla DX , Maruti may good at this point. But get assistance from a good mechanic or technician when you select/purchase the vehicle. (4) Be stable with a job first. Don't much consider what others think on you & appearance for social acceptance at this moment. Be Stable with your own income source first. Other things will automatically come to you. Below I got from FB junks , but I love that idea always. Just share it. Do stay in forum and that Ford Prefect may be good project after few years. (We too had a 2 Sri unit) Good luck !!!
  5. Create an account in photobucket. http://s1072.photobucket.com/ Then upload your images. Add links to your post in Autolanka. I previously used imageshack and uploaded hundreds of photos to Autolanka. Later imageshack switched to payment mode and lost all links for my both threads ;catalog thread and historic images thread.
  6. I am using two Viva Elites. Both are A/T and not air bag version. Maintenance is not difficult. Parts available with Unit#d Mot#rs/Janatha Motors/Thai Morots. Even you can buy used body parts(imported from Malaysia) from Janatha Motors at reasonable price. Most distance I traveled with Viva Elite is to Kandy and to Marata in last five years. (For long run I use dad's Axio) There is a separate thread here "Viva Elite Community" & visit there for more details.
  7. I have a Viva Elite and my brother in law had 2004 Swift A/T for 3 years. Space and comfort is obviously Swift over Viva Elite. 2011 Viva Elite is newer and 2004 Swift is older. For better comparison , do compere particular two units of Viva Elite and Swift. For an example, everyday someone park white colour 2004 Swift next to me. Car is in mint condition and millage is 60,000km (I see service tag inside). Interior in almost brand new condition. It is much better than the unit had with my brother in law.
  8. Thanks guys. That gentleman phoned me little while ago (I gave my business card before I leave,to contact me in case if he need any further assistance from my side) and thanked me for helping him. After I left he had taken all action on his family members and the vehicle also taken home safely. Now his family is ok and everything is under control. So I am happy too.
  9. Actually this family was really lucky. Even after vehicle is rolled over and flipped up, everybody could walk properly. No major wounds observed.(They might used seat belts). But they were really shocked. Two kids were in panic and they wanted mothers warm. Father was also in panic. Just imagine your vehicle just rolled over with your loved once and now it is up side down. I can understand their feeling as even I am still shocked after seen it. I asked driver father , can you remember any telephone number of any of your family member which I will make a phone call to them. He said "yes" but he could not recall his memory. He was walking here and there and could not think what to do next. I am sure he needed some mental relax for few minutes. Actually no serious external wounds other than the things I mentioned in my previous post. That is why most of people think you need not to visit hospital as soon as possible. So people simply ignore possible internal bleeding/internal injuries. I am sure they were having pains lot here and there but they were silence due to shock. Can you guys imagine what cause the accident? There was a rubble (granite) stock unloaded in a land and part of them rolled over to the road side. The car wheel run on it and driver could not control the vehicle and car rolled up side down. Simple ignoring can make big issues even within seconds.
  10. On my journey from Kandy to Colombo yesterday noon, near Warakapola, I suddenly saw a Corolla 121 just met with an accident and flipped over. Still passengers were in side. Stopped my vehicle and ran there. People could get passengers out and someone could enter in to the vehicle and could turn off the engine. Young father, mother and two kids were in side the car and fortunately no major injuries observed. They were really shocked and panic and even not willing to speak. I observed some bruise marks with blood on younger son's (aged 4-5 years) face close to eyes and also some blood on his foot. I strongly suggested father to move to hospital as soon as possible as there may be some internal injuries/internal bleeding. I even happy to arrange them visit hospital but he was much shocked. When I repeatedly proposed him to visit hospital as soon as possible due to possible internal injuries, then one person there asked me not to disturb driver father and let him call insurance first. Nobody wanted to accept my suggestion and poor response from the driver father too and he wanted to search for house keys inside the car first. Waited for some time more and returned back to my vehicle. Still some people think that first job after an accident is calling insurance and not directing passengers to the hospital even after this kind of accident. I personally know two people whom lost their lives in two different accidents, without showing bleeding signs but due to internal injuries. One was whom helped all injured passengers to send to the hospital after their bus met with an accident (two buses crashed each other while both buses had two company staffs traveling for a picnic). After arranging to send injured people to the hospital, someone pointed that few blood drops come from his nose, but he ignored and continuing to help others. After few hours all other injured people were in live but this kind gentlemen lost his life due to internal injuries/bleeding. Did I make any mistake reminding them internal bleeding/injuries can happen after such an accident? Still I am thinking.....(My son also in same age of that younger boy.)
  11. If you really need it, even you can publish a small news paper advertisement. I have seen few such advertisements asking present owner of the vehicle.
  12. What is Refina exactly? Does Refina has some sub trim levels? In iRage's catalogue it says "Ct.II Refina". Does it go with any dealer option?
  13. Congrats on your project and car looks really great !!! I would like to add some point to Davy's method of pasting stickers. (1) First get the sticker design cut. (2) Then peel-off the unnecessary off-cut area from the back-paper of the sticker (leave only the final letters on back- paper which you wish to paste) (3) Get a masking tape (white paper tapes which use in house painting and they are freely available at any hardware shop) and paste on the sticker, to cover the entire sticker. (4) Peel-off the back-paper of the sticker. (5) Then follow Davy''s soap method to paste the sticker to car body and align the sticker properly. (6) Leave sometime to dry up the sticker. (7) Carefully peel-off masking tape. Then all sticker letters will be pasted on the car body same as they were in your original design and no need to align letters one by one. I am sure if you can re-paste those stickers in proper way, you will get original looking back. But sometimes you may need a new set of stickers or better to take it to any sticker guy to remove the sticker carefully, if possible.
  14. Recently I observed that rear wheel driven Volvo 300 series comes with front mounted engine, but with a gear box attached to the rear axle. Does gearbox shifting to the rear axle make any advantage?
  15. Reason may be it is too old with 206- plate. (More than 15 years on service)
  16. Yesterday had a chat with a Prim-mover driver. Until I never knew that this kind of heavy machines have special manual transmission system/gear shifting pattern which has 13 -18 speeds.
  17. Congrats and it is a good start . I have printed catalog of this Galant model and absolutely it is one of the best catalogs I have.
  18. What I saw yesterday, when I got in to the car..."Hmmm Misubishi Jeep Hard Top or Daihatsu ..." But it was,
  19. May be he is on a phone call.
  20. I think you say difficult to park the car without power assisted steering, means you feel uncomfortable to handle steering while car is stationary (while parking movements). As suggested by other members, please check your steering system. If everything is ok, you have to adjust with the vehicle. These vehicles are really lighter and once you are familiar with the vehicle it is comfortable to you. (I previously owned Japanese Alto 660cc without power assisted steering)
  21. I would like to add two more models. (1) Suzuki Wagon R Stingray = Mazda Flair (I have seen only 1 - 2 Mazda Flair here) (2) Suzuki Hustler = Mazda Flair Crossover
  22. It is mentioned on the board "eat-park-pee" there. So Hiace is on the way. Magnam mehe warooo...
  23. Wish you all a happy new year !!!
