  1. there's a nice business idea embedded to the vid..
  2. someone said (in this forum?) that there has been a practice of mixing some bad quality fuel or some chemical as 75:25 and this time they've done it 50:50 to increase profits. You never know that statement is based on a true practice or some random gossip. However, nothing is impossible in this land and I can now relate the quality of fuel and the number of how much your car does on fuel threads in Auto Lanka. Can the bad quality fuel be a reason for some cars to return horrible figures in fuel consumption all of a sudden ?
  3. This law is already enforced strictly on retail business, even small boutique should have a price list. First time I heard it has also being enforced to vehicle market through that car sales guy. Whatever said and done, a good move.
  4. One car sales guy told me they have gone through tough times for not displaying prices of cars, when I asked why the prices were displayed with each car. This is a second hand car sale. Usual issue with laws here is they get implemented but not enforced peopely.
  5. Spot on Vishwa, told the same thing to that idiot but couldn't waste much time on it. Yes, as a result now car sales guys put up the price tag on the vehicles including secondhand vehicles.
  6. OP should know the model of the car had he read the description of the online advertisement where he took this picture oh hold on, is it a coincident that this very same picture is there in that site with their watermark in it. Another clever attempt of gurrilla marketing.
  7. Asking price should also make mandatory including paper advertisements. One idiot wanted me to come all the way to chillaw to know the price of his vehicle.
  8. Thanks guys for the responses. Finally decided to pump from flower road ceypetco and pumped 95. So far no issues and the reason to decide was couple of friends running 406s daily kept on pumping from that place and so far with no issues. Lot of vehicles of prime minister office and other cabinet ministries pumping from this station for those chits. So far no issues and keeping the fingers crossed.
  9. This isn't over yet as I witnessed about 6 more 406s and a bluebird in the garage plus he was getting scary number of phone calls for roadside assistance. Needless to say all due to bad quality fuel. Had a chat with one person where his car failed after pumped a tankful of 95. Have to take the 406 out tomorrow as golf gave up due to a leaky diesel filter housing and wondering what to pump from where. Any updates on reliable filling stations? Appreciate responses from euro owners specifically.
  10. I dont mean to be harsh but if you're too worried about maintaining a jap and having plans to run the car 20k between intervals and plans to commit suicide over scaresity of spare parts, please stay away from this euro, we would be glad that another 307 saved!
  11. Valuation is good to know whether the price you're paying is worth or not. It doesnt necessarily give an indication about the cost of a particular repair.
  12. T belt needs to be replaced in 80k intervals and cost is almost equivalent to Japanese counterparts. It won't snap just after passing 100k mark but if it does, the cost of repair can be a killer. Recon haedlights cost 8k upwards 16k depending on the quality. There's a Taiwan brand-new available for 14k. Genuine costs around 24~28k
  13. well said and don't think I need to update the prices any further overall I felt the market for D9 has gone up and D8 further fell down. I fetched little less than 1.0 mil for my D8 and there are GLXs quoting 1.7 mil and they do get sold.
  14. Seriously we should do something as they're playing with our money and getaway Scott free. Now, that's something which has to be stopped.
  15. Was wondering when they started issuing low quality fuel as I pumped on this last Sunday. I don't mind flushing whats left in the tank if it's believed to be of low quality coz the price of a pump is way higher than the cost of a tankfull
  16. Check the distance between the centers of left rear wheel and front wheel and compare it with the same figure of right hand side front and rear. Distance between tire and fender is not what you should be worrying but the measurement I told you. If the figures are somewhat different and the car has rear hyphoid type rigid axle as oppose to independent suspension, then the rear axle need to be checked.
  17. Which means IOC fuel too is affected?
  18. Aruna confirmed the hpi does 15 in city but not quite sure in what sort of driving/traffic conditions. managed to squeeze out 14/15 out of my 1.8 D8 in all outstation trips I did with it.
  19. I conform this too as Aruna's garage had about many fuel pump failed 406s all of a sudden. Usually, the pump comes back to life when tapped on to it at least to drive it to the garage but this time he couldnt do it Aruna told with me. Seems something seriously wrong with the quality of fuel. Not gonna take the 406 out for a while
  20. Haven't heard or not aware of any factory defects other than the famous AL4 auto box defect with the two solenoid valves inside the box. If this is manual you don't have to worry on that. As ziffan said, there's no issue with spareparts and expertise on repairs.
  21. Once bought a good recon one from panchikawatte around 19k
  22. Great, I thought I'm the only one of that kind. Lol. But have to admit that you've developed your tinkering skills improved.
  23. ^^^^^^ That can happen if the car is positive ground vehicle such as Volkswagen beetle.
  24. Car seems getting into good shape with new metal all around. I've noted a petrol tube, hope there isn't any petrol in it and the tank is taken off before you operate the torch.
  25. Earth the wire connector which is attached to the temperature probe/sensor. Then the gauge should indicate boiling Point. This way you can test the gauge and wiring
